My experience with Zero Deposit has been extremely disappointing.

After my tenancy claim was submitted, Zero Deposit initially assessed the claim at a reasonable figure. The tenant disputed this, and the matter eventually proceeded to TDS adjudication, where the final award was vastly reduced. While I accept that independent adjudication can produce different outcomes, the process itself was frustratingly slow and poorly communicated.

The biggest issue was payment. Following adjudication, I spent weeks chasing payment through the letting agent who acted as my intermediary. When I eventually contacted Zero Deposit directly (07/07/2026), I was informed that the payment had actually been approved weeks earlier (21/05/2026) but had not been made because of an automated internal system error. Their system had incorrectly flagged the claim as already paid, despite no payment having been issued. The only reason this came to light was because I chased it myself.

There was no proactive communication, no attempt to identify the error, and no urgency in correcting it. Had I not contacted them, I have little confidence the mistake would have been discovered when it was.

Throughout the claim there were repeated delays, missed timescales and a lack of meaningful updates. I repeatedly had to chase to establish what stage the claim had reached.

For a company whose service is built around providing a faster alternative to a traditional tenancy deposit, this experience fell well below expectations. Administrative errors, lengthy delays and poor communication undermined confidence in the entire process.

I cannot recommend the service based on my experience.
