ordered my books from waterstones and they came really quickly but unfortunately the delivery drivers damaged the spine of one of the books. I complained to waterstones wanting a new copy knowing the delivery drivers cannot do anything and they responded quickly and are given me a new copy while i return the damaged one. I really appreciate this type of customer service as i have been shopping from waterstones for 6 years now. Thank you Waterstones!

The shipping company apparently made my book swim accross the ocean to vienna and it arrived totally soaked. The lovliest employee georgina was able to sort the issue out and get me a replacement copy faster than sonic the hedgehog can run, i will put in a petition with the pope to make sure she gets declared a saint, and her pillow shall be cold at all times!
Online registration
I had to complete my registration membership and had a problem doing this. When I contacted customer support this was solved efficiently and I now have digital access to Waterstones as well as being able to use my card.

J'ai contacté deux fois le service clients et à chaque fois, ils ont trouvé une solution immédiate à mes problèmes (un changement d'adresse sur une précommande et une commande validée deux fois par erreur). Bref, je recommande les yeux fermés !

Damaged books replaced, great customer service
I received some books that had sustained water damage in transit. Michael in customer services replaced them for me with no issues. All my emails were replied to quickly and politely. Great experience, will definitely order from them again.

I don’t recommend the Waterstones website
I love browsing in Waterstones stores. There’s always a good selection of books and the booksellers are friendly and knowledgeable. I try to support British businesses so have been going out of my way to shop at places like Waterstones instead of Amazon. However, I feel like I am being punished for this decision. Having only placed around 5 or 6 Waterstones order, 2 orders arrived with damaged books. The first time I didn’t say anything as I don’t mind my books being damaged or used, it’s not eco friendly to get rid of them, but the second time I had to ask Waterstones for a replacement as the book was meant to be a gift. The spine was damaged and some of the pages were warped. The books came in a thin cardboard box with no padding so I’m not surprised I’ve had multiple instances of damaged books.
Most annoying of all is what has happened with my preorder. In early January I preordered a book with a publication date of 12th February. It is now the Friday 13th February and the book hasn’t even been dispatched (although they’ve just taken the money out). I selected 2nd class delivery, so assuming it actually gets shipped tonight it won’t come until Monday 16th at the earliest as there is no post on Sundays. This is appalling for a preorder. The entire point is to receive the item on the day of its release. If I had ordered it from Amazon, not only would it have been £1 cheaper but it actually would have arrived on the day of publication. I don’t want to seem like a Karen but I don’t think this is acceptable for a preorder.
