I've used Wards for the sale of both Business and personal properties and been very happy with their service.

Such wonderfully ‘personal’ attention - each time I even speak on the phone or actually attend an appointment . I am aware of their ‘listening’ skills and very much appreciate this - as I sometimes need to make the decisions that I have to think further about. Marina was very responsive, helpful and informative. She turned a few things round for me very quickly which I really appreciated, and gave me strong guidance which gave me real confidence through quite a stressful process. Their price was also really competitive.

The efficiency of Claire Blackman and her Secretary Andrea Taylor . They were knowledgable and helpful throughout the process and any calls or e mail queries were dealt with almost immediately .

Wards were very efficient in my conveyancing transaction and explained everything very clearly. I can highly recommend Geoff Goulding and his team if you are buying a new build residential property.

We didn’t personally use Wards, Clevedon for our house sale or purchase, but both we and the rest of our chain were repeatedly affected by their actions. Here’s what we experienced:

- Unnecessary delays: Wards stopped answering enquiries for around three months while the bottom of the chain re-sold their property. This wasn’t needed, as everyone else in the chain had already confirmed we’d continue once the chain was complete again.
- Slow communication: We were told Wards sent their enquiries to the other solicitor in “drips and drabs” over several months. This made it really hard for everyone to know where things stood or to plan any completion dates.
- Last to complete enquiries: Even after being part of the chain for seven months, Wards were still the last to finish their enquiries.
- Delays over a deed of variation: They held back a deed of variation until almost everything else was done, which caused a delay of more than two weeks while waiting for management company signatures. We later found out this could’ve been sorted months earlier.
- Poor communication on exchange day: On the day we were supposed to exchange, no one—our solicitor, the estate agents, or others in the chain—could get hold of Wards. At 4 p.m. they suddenly said there was an outstanding indemnity insurance payment, even though it had been resolved the previous Friday. Because of this, we couldn’t exchange that day.
- Hard to reach: Our estate agent, solicitor, and others in the chain all commented on how difficult Wards were to contact by phone or email, with some suggesting they might have been ignoring communications.

Overall, the chain was complicated and had fallen through twice early on (which wasn’t Wards’ fault), but the issues above made the final few months far more stressful and delayed than they needed to be. Out of the six solicitors involved, Wards stood out as the least responsive and the most difficult to work with.

Our business was very efficiently and professionally dealt with to our satisfaction.

The service provided in obtaining a new Will, new Lasting Powers of Attorney and Obtaining Probate for my late Wife was carried out in a very professional and timely way with information provided in a clear concise way. Rebecca Parkman was very helpful in all matters.

The team provided very thorough and detailed advice, ensuring we considered matters we might otherwise overlook or misinterpret.

It's been a long time since I've been talked down to. Considering I paid for the exact thirty minutes, it would have been nice to be listened to when I needed the information to stop, so that I could understand what was meant instead of listening to a conversation I had stopped listening to as I was lost. Several times I thought of putting the phone down but I thought maybe, just maybe there might be some compassion. Maybe I could take her on a lesson that she paid for and overwhelm her by constantly talking, taking her out her comfort zone and showing what "I know". Baring in mind, I used to spend 6 weeks on perisher courses where the information kept building, constantly, quickly, physically, and intensively as people's life's were dependent on us, we stopped when needed so that we knew that no person was uncomfortable!
That said, eventually, the information was given and explained with compassion at the end! Thank you.

From start to finish, Wards (Portishead) have been fantastic- friendly and personal yet extremely professional. We have just moved, plus made new wills, and would highly recommend them. We will definitely continue using them as the needs arises in the future.
