A compulsive liar. Never delivered plants. Never delivered the promised refund. Thinks it’s ok to steal other peoples money.

I wish I had read the reviews first! Two months later and no plants and no reply to my emails or my eventual request for a refund. I feel gutted that I have given my money away. Please do not order anything from this site!

Much like the other comments below this trader is unable to fulfill orders.
It all started when I didn't get a confirmation or invoice for my order, a legal obligation I must state. My order didn't arrive and I emailed to request more information.
This back and forth went on for two months full of excuses as to why he couldn't supply the vegetables I had ordered. (Poor weather, not enough staff, not getting his tomatoes out on time, holiday, ill health) I'd had enough waiting and made this clear to him. I was asked to wait more weeks, promised the items were nearly ready, (I'd had this before) but when I insisted that I got a refund I was ignored. I pressed on the issue and was told he wouldn't refund me as he didn't have the money to do so. I raised a dispute through PayPal and thankfully got all my money back. This man came across as rude near the end when I had been nothing but courteous about him not delivering my order. I have contacted trading standards and I urge anyone else affected to do the same.

Why is it possible for this completely dishonest business to continue to trade? I had placed two orders with him and he has completely ignored my requests to explain why he has neither returned my money or fulfilled the orders. What can we do ?

Fraudulent business. The owner took our Paypal payment then made excuses for about two months as to why he can't deliver (Going on holiday, low stock, no business revenue, ignoring emails). He's now stopped responding to emails and texts after I asked him for a refund, which basically makes him a thief.

Ordered squash plants in May, still not arrived over 2 months later.. I have now requested a refund.
I wish he had just been honest and said he couldn't supply them and i would have bought them from elsewhere!!
I will not be ordering from him again.

I have never felt the need to write a review before but this company’s total disregard for it’s customers.

Please do not waste your time and money on this man. After three weeks of silence regarding my order I wrote a very polite email requesting a delivery date. I received a curt email saying “next week”. That was the 14th, today, the 22nd, I emailed asking for an update only to receive an automatic reply saying that he will be away on holiday and out of contact until the 31st as he has been stressed!

If he cannot fulfil the orders then he should have the decency to advise his customers accordingly and return their payments.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Don't use this company, find somewhere else. I ordered plants to be delivered in May, they were ordered on behalf of a school garden project. I called at the end of May, left voice mails and got a vague email response telling me the order would 'probably' be ready in a week (beginning of june) but nothing arrived.

I emailed to let them know we needed the plants for a school gardening project and were working to a deadline. No response. I then email to ask if I could cancel the order as I had got plugs from somewhere else (a nursery that actually had a product to buy). No response. I chased up to see if someone could sort out a refund. No response. Nobody answers the phone. Nobody responds to emails.

As it currently stands vegetable plants direct have taken £20 from a school garden project (funded by childrens fundraising) for plug plants they did not actually have to sell.

Rubbish and they should be ashamed.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY i ordered plants 2 months ago of a week delivery and they still have not arrived. I have sent numerous emails requesting information and laterly a refund and only ever get the same auromated reply ....... very dodgy company will just have ro write off the money i habe spent with them 🤨

I ordered my plants in may and received them today. Both very healthy and strong. There was a delay in email response but thats understandable as its a small company. This being my first order and after reading all the negative reviews I was happy they were proven wrong.

This company is the worst of all veggie plant companies I know. I ordered some peas from them back last year. I heard nothing more and when I contacted them I was told they were not fit to be sent out and he was growing some more. Once again I heard nothing, I contacted them again and where told it would be the following spring before they are available. I cancelled the order and asked for a refund. I was told that it would have to wait until after Christmas, why I wasn’t told. I still haven’t received the refund and now the email address just bounced back to me. It is disgraceful set of affairs. Never use this company, they take your money and don’t send on the goods.

I used this site for the first time this year, I got my order with some missing so I contacted them and they let me know that what I ordered wasn't any good (it was at end of season) but they would replace them when they send my onions. I have received good healthy plants, and had very good, friendly communication with the company. It's a small company and I've had no problems with them. I will buy from them again.

Very disappointing
Well over a month between order and delivery. Had to chase Mr Wheeler through Paypal.
Plants arrived very poorly packaged and in a distressed state. The plants were badly wilted and with very little root system. They cannot be planted directly into the ground but in pots. Chances of survival one out of ten!
We wont use this company again,

This company is to be avoided, took my money on 20th July, ignored my follow up email on 24 July asking when I could expect delivery and no response to my 3 letters dated 20th August to his various addresses requesting a refund.
The numerous poor Trustpilot reviews suggest that Keith Wheeler is a buffoon and incompetent.
I am becoming of the opinion that his repeatedly poor business performance is more serious and he needs to be stopped. Paypal will be informed as will Trading Standards and a Small Claims Court action is to follow.

I got an allotment this year so ordered spinach and rocket plug plants, they have been brilliant.

I've been buying from this company for 4 years and I have been happy with my plants every time. The key with this company, essentially a one man band, is to get your orders in before the growing season starts. Not wait until the last minute, and then expect to just receive your plants the next day when they haven't even been sown yet... 🙄
I will happily order from Vegetable Plants Direct and Tomato 🍅 Plants Direct again next year.

Well I think as a business it would make quite a good comedy, like the Faulty Towers of the Lettuce world! Except it's a bit less charming when they actually have your money and you have no plants. After 3 weeks when I checked up on my order I got a big explanation about the bad weather so I asked for a refund kindly and was told that it couldn't be issued as there was a list of people waiting for refunds and that he had some 'priority bills' to pay first and his accounts are overdrawn! Ummmm..... sorry but your financial/weather/business running problems aren't really my problem, we all have problems but you shouldn't be taking on orders you can't fulfil in the first place! I wish I had checked on here before ordering! I think I was one of the lucky ones who only placed a small £8 order and I did eventually get a refund but it's been a lot of running about to get it back. Seriously order your own seeds and you'll get your plants much quicker with less hassle.

Ordered sweetcorn plants on the 28th May, arrived today later than I expected. They were very well packed, in large box and newspaper all to be recycled. Larger than expected and all seem healthy. For 10% off for new customer and free postage I think they were good value for money.

This is the second time i have ordered from the company, hoping for better service this year. Yet again I have been let down with the same old excuses. I'm sorry but the bad weather was forecast well in advance to allow for seedlings to be protected, and other suppliers don't seem to have the same issues. My email requesting a refund has been ignored so far, and I am without chilli, tomato and courgette plants.
Take my advice, if you don't mind your plants being delivered months late then go ahead and order. i ordered for May dispatch, June 19th no sign of plants or a refund. And I do leave good reviews when deserved, I don't just leave bad ones, unfortunately I can't leave a good one for this company.

Update 29 June, still no response to my email, now in breach of distance selling regs as more than 28 days late, will I ever get a refund?

Sadly I must add my voice to those who say don't use this site. I had what seems like a typical experience of those going on this site - ordered in march for mainly spring delivery, knowing I was going away for a month in June but thinking things would be well delivered and established by then. Emailed mid-May asking where order was, no response, emailed again early June, got a reply far too late saying they could not do my order. I have had to buy bits and pieces as it became clearer there was nothing doing from veg plants direct, but it is not the same as having an order fulfilled in a timely way and it has completely mucked up my planning and left me without a lot of things I would have like to have grown (and which I ordered from VPD). I do get the impression that there is expertise and a wish to do the right thing in there somewhere but you can't run a proper business like this and let so many people down. Don't use this site until they sort themselves out.
