Could have been so much better
It started well but the more in continued the worse it went.
The course positions itself as free of charge but it isn't: your friends pay for your studies. It's an okay scheme on its own but it shouldn't be called free.
After 8 weeks of the course, I did not feel that I learned anything or that I could receive any personalised feedback from teachers with paying extra money for one-to-one sessions. Teachers even did not give any comments when someone's sets were explicitly offensive. We worked more on delivery but everything related to choosing ideas, building a story, polishing material, navigating comedy scenes in London for the time after the course.
As for the management part, we were told that we need to sell 5 tickets by the end of the second week and 5 tickets by the end of the fourth week, however, already on Tuesday of the second week it turned out that we either sell today or can't participate in the concert. Considering that I wanted to try the first two sessions before committing to anything, I felt that the rules of the game are being changed in the middle of the game and the communication about it felt quite aggressive.
Then, the communication about the timing was vague and on the day of the show we still did not know for how long it would last, in what order we perform, etc. The evening show was announced to be from 18:30 to 21:30. In real life, it was closer to from 19 to 23:30. People who came to see the concert from other cities had to leave earlier and did not have a chance to see the person they came for. The professional photographer hired by ultra had to leave earlier and could not stay until the end of the concert. The person responsible for the red light to warn performers about their timing so that they would wrap up on time was not doing their job very well and this has drastically affected the concert's timing.
I absolutely love the idea of getting fun experiences and collecting money for charities but fundraising is also a skill that not everyone has and maybe an online course or advice in this regard would help many.
In general, I think ultra has a great potential but I wish they actually did what they said they would do.
