Wow! What an amazing trip - 3 weeks in Africa just didn't seem long enough. The highlight was all the beautiful animals - from preparing food and feeding the Sanctuary's residents, to going on game drives in search for elephants, rhino and lions. I loved learning about them. The Sanctuary itself was a hive of activity, we got a variety of activities from cleaning enclosures to feeding the carnivores, and taking the cheeky baboons on long walks.

The research week we had at TimBila was my favourite - tracking elephants and lions, habitat sampling, game counts, camera traps + more. You really felt like you were helping their conservation effort. During the entire experience, the people were fabulous! Our coordinators were helpful, knowledgeable, super friendly and funny - we were always laughing. There were volunteers from all over the world, whom many I now consider friends.

I'd highly recommend this trip for a phenomenal African wildlife experience that will have you wanting to come back! A huge thanks to Matt at Totally Travel for arranging everything, from the bookings to providing timely information, and just making everything so easy.

Best trip I have ever been on!
I enjoyed spending time with the animals and meeting/making new friends from across the world. My favourite section was the carnivores! The workers were very friendly and always had smiles on their faces and made a lot of jokes. Who would have thought that cleaning cages and picking up poo would be soo much fun! I also enjoyed having great conversations and learning about the different cultures. I also really enjoyed spending time with the Wilson Family (owners of the Wildlife Orphanage). They were very friendly and made me feel at home. We had our meals together and even got to meet and spend time with some of their friends (They included us in everything) and give this really lovely family vibe (they were basically my 2nd family). The accommodation was lovely, the beds were very comfortable. I honestly didn't want to come home!
Everything went so smoothly, Matt was very professional and understanding when I kept deferring dates and changing programs so I could go with my friends. Even kept tabs on us throughout the trip in case anything went wrong. I am hoping to go back and will definitely be using Totally Travel again!

​This trip was amazing and is something I would love to do again. This was my first time volunteering overseas and was such an eye opener. The students were wonderful and very excited to learn, it was very interesting learning about the Cambodian culture. Accomodation was lovely and the meals were great. Lots of variety both western and Khmer. I also loved exploring the village and Siem Reap on the weekend. After 4 weeks I can honestly say I had a 10/10 experience and it was very hard to say goodbye to the people I met.

The Bali Turtle Conservation program was incredible. Commencing with the activities week was an excellent opportunity to learn more about the Balinese culture, engaging in a lot of fun and varied activities, and to form close friendships with the other volunteers. Volunteering with the sea turtles in Nusa Penida was also really fun and rewarding. It was so special to be part of the turtle's lifecycle, from assisting with relocating the turtle eggs to a safe place in the centre, to looking after the baby turtles, feeding and cleaning the shells of the medium size turtles, and preparing a larger turtle to be released into the ocean.

Absolutely the best trip I have ever been on. Loved the program and the organisations! I wish I was still there! Totally Travel is amazing and I will use them again!

Would definitely recommend Totally Travel. Matt is amazing at what he does. I went on the 3 month language & cultural exchange in France and got caught in the middle of Covid. Matt was such a big help throughout the process. Nevertheless I had a great time on my travels. I met so many new people and learnt a new language. Truly a once in a lifetime experience!

I can’t recommend Matt & his team from Totally Travel highly enough! It was my first time using them or any kind of travel agent. I usually like the control of booking everything myself but as a solo female traveller wanting to do a bucket list trip through Africa, I thought it best to have some help & I’m so glad I did! Not only did they help me organise my dream bucket list trip of a lifetime but they also helped me avoid being stuck there during the global pandemic crisis! I started by booking the Veterinary Wildlife experience in Namibia which that itself was just amazing, anyone that has passion for African wildlife should do it! From there I decided to piece together different tours with Totally travel’s help going through Botswana, Vic Falls, Kenya & finishing in Tanzania. They put me at ease about the whole thing, knowing everything including all my transfers between places was sorted so I never felt worried travelling through Africa alone. Sadly my trip was cut 3wks short due to the Covid-19 outbreak & I was nearly stranded in Zanzibar unable to return due to flight & international border issues! Panic started to set in but then Totally Travel came to my rescue, managing to get me on a last minute flight back home! They’ve also organised my credits for the flights & tours I wasn’t able to do, making the whole thing a lot easier than what it would be if I had tried to organise it all myself! I will definitely be booking through them again in the future!

10/10 It was the best trip I’ve been on. Being up close and personal with the African wildlife was unreal. Both the Kanaan research week and the Wildlife Vet Experience were amazing. The coordinators and vets running them were so nice and super informed. As someone looking into a career working with animals this trip has allowed me to learn so much more about paths I may take.
Totally travel were so helpful in making me feel reassured, safe and answered absolutely every question I had. I would definitely book again!

10/10. It was such an amazing trip. I did the Veterinary Wildlife program and it was one of the best experiences of my life. The whole experience is super hands-on and you get to experience things you never could have imagined you would experience! We worked with species such as Baboons, Cheetah, Caracal, Wild dogs, Mongoose, Meerkats, Elephants and so many more animals! You meet so many amazing people from around the world too. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND. The week of research at Kanaan was so much fun and very interesting. It really gave me an idea of what a career it research was. It is perfectly tailored to those (like myself) who are exploring options for their future as well as people who just want to have fun and help out and get involved. Super rewarding experience. Words cannot express how much fun I had. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Totally travel were absolutely amazing and super supportive along the whole process. They made the whole process so easy. I can't fault them. Will DEFINITELY use Totally Travel again for future volunteer endeavours. Truly an experience I will never forget.

My time in Namibia was absolutely incredible! I had the time of my life and can't wait until I have the time and money to head back again! My trip just flew by and I was so gutted to leave, I made so many amazing friends and learned so much more about African wildlife conservation and I really felt like I grew as a person in my time spent at the sanctuary. The staff and animals were all amazing, and I couldn't speak more highly of the whole experience! The trip went without a hitch, including travel, and I want to thank you for all your efforts in assuring that was the case! I will definitely be booking any further trips through you and have already checked out some of the other programs Totally Travel offers, and I'm keen to go on a few of those as well as soon as I save up again! Thanks again for all your help, you've been amazing!

10/10 It was an experience of a life time. Not everyone gets to say that you volunteered in Africa. I loved my time there. The people you meet are amazing and so nice (I now have friends all over the world), the coordinators are all amazing people who help you and want you to get the most out of your time. The activities you do are just one of a kind (cleaning the injured Rhino enclosures where the male rolled around in the mud bath I made him), its just mind blowing how much you get to do in a short time. Its something I will never forget and hopefully will end up going back too. The food was always amazing and they cater for all dietary requirements. I was so surprised on the high quality of food and every meal time was great and enjoyable.

This was an experience everyone should do at least once in their life time. The project is fantastic, the staff at Na Ku Se do wonderful work, their ethos around animals is admirable. As a volunteer you will be involved in all the day to day running of the sanctuary. It was hard work, dirty, dusty and challenging, but in return you get up close to wild animals, feed, care for, play with, handle, clean, groom, photograph and if you are lucky like me, get to help the vets and experienced staff with health and medical attention of the animals. Thank you Matt and Totally Travel for your professional organisation and approach to logistics of the trip and programme. I can highly recommend this project to anyone thinking of volunteering, particularly with African wildlife. Don't book a safari, be a volunteer instead, you see and do so much more.

The whole experience was phenomenal to say the least! The amazing staff and the amazing experiences with all the animals made it really hard returning home. I couldn't have imagined doing half the tasks I did while I was over there. Choosing a highlight isn't easy as there were so many, it's not often you can say you worked with Rhino anesthetics, or working with cheetahs and wild dogs for their health checks. Not to mention being able to go for a horse ride and be accompanied by Giraffes. The quaint little cabins we stayed in weren't fancy but they were comfortable and clean, and a great night each Saturday with people from all over having a party made the end to each week awesome.

10/10 The veterinary experience was amazing, very hands on. It was wonderful to be able to help with the amazing work the sanctuary is doing for all the animals. I never imagined that I would be able to say I helped with health checks on Africa’s wildlife!! On our first day, our group was lucky enough to help dehorn 4 adult rhinos, although it’s sad this has to happen just to prevent these animals being poached it is a reality these days and I can say I was lucky enough to help! I will never live down my favourite moment to everyone that knows me! I got to be up close with my favourite animal a cheetah multiple times, doing health checks and also being able to walk side by side this magnificent creature!! Another highlight is yes...another cheetah we had a cheetah that had become ill, unfortunately we didn’t think he would make it overnight but once morning came ready to start another day we found him up and pacing in his cage waiting to be returned to his enclosure as if nothing happened the night before. ​Kobus and Lauren are amazing vets who taught me so much about African wildlife and gave me plenty of hands on experience I will remember for a lifetime. This trip will forever be a trip of a lifetime and I wouldn’t hesitate to say I will definitely do the veterinary experience again. I don’t think anything will ever top this experience...until next time Africa!

10/10 It was the most amazing experience of my life, the people were incredible and the experience itself was like no other, I highly recommend to everyone who wants to work with animals. Meals were 10/10, accommodation was way better than expected. Two weeks wasn’t long but it was long enough to change my life. Thank you to everyone I met and especially thank you to the people that made it possible for this experience, being there and seeing and experiencing everything I did truly changed my views on life and the way I want to live it, I can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes me, not goodbye but see you next time Namibia.

I booked a volunteer trip with Totally Travel to Nepal in 2017. I was really nervous booking through an agency, but my mind was completely put at ease.

Matt was extremely thorough, professional and friendly, and he was always available to answer any questions I had, not matter how small. Even better, you are dealing directly with an Australian based company, so you don't have the added stress or anxiety of coordinating a big trip with an overseas organisation.

I went on my trip feeling 100% supported and aware of what to expect and this trip was one of the best experiences of my life!

The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, they were very accommodating and easy to deal with.

I completed a volunteer trip in Buenos Aires combined with Spanish course and absolutely loved my experience. The Spanish school was seriously excellent. The classes were small and intimate and also taught by great teachers.

I didn't enjoy my first volunteer project, so Totally Travel helped me to find another which was much better suited to me.

Communication was always quick with Matt. He made the whole process very easy for me and even helped me to connect the program with my university.

My housing was also organised by Totally Travel. I lived in a very central part of Palermo with a kind Argentinian lady her and her dog Cognac.

10/10 My trip was such a memorable and unique experience. I didn’t know what to expect but after settling into Cambodia I felt really comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed the routine of teaching kids every day and then being able to go off and explore and have fun on the weekends! I made so many new friends with other volunteers from around the world! The organisation was so lovely and friendly and I am extremely grateful for the experience. The locals were some of the most friendly people I have ever met, I would love to go back. Thanks Totally Travel!
