Buying a lease extension is a very specialised process.

It is fraught with time frames and unextendable deadlines.

The procedure must be adhered to absolutely.

Some years ago, I bought a lease extension on another property that I own. I went to our family solicitor who said that he was able to conduct the extension for me and was willing to do so.
Sadly, the solicitor did not know what he was doing which caused me great inconvenience, enormous stress and unnecessary expense eventually necessitating us having to go to the Lease Extension Tribunal in order to get the matter ratified.

When, at the end of last year, I wanted to purchase the lease extension on another property I naturally did not want to go to the same solicitor and did not know where to source a company who could get the job done efficiently, smoothly and at reasonable cost.

Through searching on the Internet I found The Lease Extension Company.

I called them, spoke with their Client Services Manager Jo and as a result of that conversation instructed them to act for me.

They have been brilliant, sourcing a surveyor and solicitor for me who have conducted the whole matter with specialist knowledge and expertise.
The surveyor had previous experience of dealing with my freeholder’s surveyor and because of their excellent relationship he was able to secure for me a very favourable price for my lease extension. This, coupled with the fixed reasonable fees of the solicitor acting for me together with The Lease Extension Company’s fixed reasonable costs, enabled me to make a significant saving on the purchase of my new lease extension.

Very happy with the service provided by The Lease Extension Company. They have made the whole process very easy from the beginning to the end, with the reminder emails, follow ups, keeping the record and advice. I would definitely recommend.

1 If you think you can call and get put through to the person you want to speak, think again. The receptionist tells you there is no response from (name of the person, two different ones in my case) and she will leave a message on their 'answering machine'. *It may have been called something else, but the implication was the same.
2. If you think having done (1) above you will get a call back you may not, you may have to go through the whole procedure again. So 24+ hours could have gone by, and you still won't have spoken to anyone.
3. Don't be surprised if the person you finally get to speak to informs you that she will have to finish the call in a couple of minutes as she has a meeting to attend. Although she knows you are 78 years old and in need of a bit more clarification, she doesn't offer to call you back later to assist you.
Finally, you can call the receptionist if you like and grumble to her that you are not happy with never being able to speak to the right person straight away, but if you do, she will listen but, nobody from the company will ever contact you again.
Actually, it felt to me that having given me the standard info, there was no follow-up service and no customer support of any kind.

We renewed our leases as group as we all own a share of the freeholdand we all received a great service. We received excellent service which was prompt and everything was properly checked, the fixed fee was truly fixed and no question was ever unanswered. We had tried before to undertake our lease extensions with a firm of solicitors directly and but it took so many months and we got no where so we moved to the Lease Extension Company and received a great service and completed our lease extensions easily. Super impressed by this company. I always knew what was happening and if I had any questions they were always quick to respond and help out. The solicitors were very good (unusual in my experience!) and the surveyors were able to get me a better deal then other negibours who used other people . All round very thankful I found them.

Before using the company I did a lot of research and quickly realised I would save hundreds of pounds using their fixed fee. I was skeptical and looked at comparable companies but found that what they offered was not comparing apples with apples and that only the lease extension company use the leading specialist firms for a discounted fixed fee, not in house less experienced solicitors. I can confirm my solicitor has been outstanding and truly one of the leading experts in this area and I am impressed with the whole service. The client service team are always avialable and very professional the surveyor was again truly an expert and I would highly recommend saving yourself time and money and using this service. Equally if you do a lot of research you will see the huge benefit you will receive by doing so. I have recommended them to my neighbours who are now starting the process with them.
