Been over 8 weeks not recieved my order. I have tried contacting them a number of times but I haven't received a reply. Very disappointing. Just hope the order is on it's way!

Placed order on 23rd March 2020. Still waiting over 7 weeks gone. I can't get into my account but they sent email stating not to worry and deliveries can take up to 7 weeks. During the wait I've seen these posts and realise they went into receivership at Christmas. So why were people after that getting emails enticing them to order? Stealing money from innocent people under false pretences is a crime. I've written them an email but doubt like everyone else they'll reply so in a week I'm going to do a chargeback on my card, I I informed them of this too. Very unprofessional they put out emails enticing people to buy when they knew they were closing!

Placed my order on the 2nd of March, I did not realise at the time of placing my order that they had gone into administration. After waiting 10 weeks they finally arrived today. I had attempted to contact them numerous of times with no luck but they emailed me last week to assure me that my order would be dispatched. All my books arrived bar one but they told me I would be refunded the amount of the book. It's a long wait and not ideal that they aren't very good at communicating with their customers.

This is not a closing down sale, this is theft of people's money for orders that they dont seem to ever be able to fulfil. I've been waiting over 8 weeks for my order. At the time of ordering it said to expect to wait 3-4 weeks. No response to emails. I understand the challenges they are facing due to redundancies/ COVID etc. But if they cannot communicate with customers to offer some reassurance that their orders will eventually be received, then this is completely immoral.

I ordered a large amount worth over £80 on 23rd March. I received 1 book quite quickly and nothing else since. I have called the customer service number that no one answers and I get charged for as its an 0345 number. I have sent 4 emails to their customer service team and had no reply from. Really disappointing as many of the items were gifts. A simple automatic email reply would suffice to reassure people that they haven't been forgotten.

Used many times in the past and been happy. Now I placed an order on 19th March. I received a quarter of it at the end of April. Now its 8 weeks since the order and I am still waiting. All info to seek help is contradictory. Says log on to your account then says you cant. Says email customer services only to get a reply that says the mail box is not monitored. Doubtful I will see my order or my money back. Money was for learning materials for home schooling my kids. Shouldn't be taking orders they cant fulfill

All my books arrived today in perfect condition after waiting over 11 weeks. Great prices but shame about slow delivery the uncertainty!

To be honest, they don’t even warrant one star. My order was placed on 11th March, money taken and order confirmed. That was 3 months ago and despite several emails and attempted phone calls, I have had no response. It was advertised as a closing down sale, however it has been a complete rip-off. I am considering further action.

I'm getting really worried about my order now (ordered 20th March), reading all these reviews. I only recieved 2 books from my order and spent almost £100 - money which I can't afford to lose....

Update: The day after I posted this review, I recieved an email saying that the items will be delivered the next day. Everything was delivered today except one item (rose gold money box) that is missing. No point enquiring about it as they don't pick up the phone or reply to emails or even respond on here! Some of the items would have made home educating my child a lot less stressful had I recieved them on time. Sad to have had this last bad experience from what has been a great company.

Still waiting on my order been 4 months with nothing been emailing and phone going dead not Evan ringing 😡 45 pounds I dnt no weather il get it back from my bank so looms luke I'm down fumming but a lesson well and truly learned dnt trust and pay less it's through PayPal and u can get it back 😡😡

Have now been waiting 10 week and still not received any of order. I phoned up 2 weeks ago to be told wait another week and it should be dispatched.. waited another 2 weeks and still nothing I phoned again to this time be told wait another few weeks will be dispatched by the end of the month! Its a joke to see people have been receiving orders who ordered after me! Dont see why they arent being fair and fullfilling orders by dates placed.

I have just had to file a PayPal dispute as I've been waiting over 10 weeks for my order. I put my order through on the morning of 26/02/2020, I haven't heard a thing since. To all the people on here saying we're moaning and being impatient, I really think you need to understand that there are customers here who have been spoken to rudely, lied to and constantly fobbed off. There are many who have had wrong items delivered, missing items etc with no chance of refund or rectification. There are also many who didn't know The Book People had gone into administration because this was hidden very well by them (probably the administrators) when they were happily sending out promotional emails etc. So to sit behind a keyboard and say stop moaning goes to show how ignorant some people are. It's all great for those that have received their orders or were lucky enough to get the 'lovely lady' on the phone but there are many of us who have been screwed over by all of this and we have every right to MOAN about it!

I'm still waiting for the books I ordered almost 3 months ago. Anyone linked to this company should never work as a service provider or in retail ever again

I ordered a lot of books in March and have recieved just one. I am prepared to wait as the customer service shown over the many years I have used them has always been excellent. Please dont forget we pay such discounts for our books and the people dispatching them are doing so knowing they are losing their jobs. Stop gripping they are doing their best

I placed a large order on the 3rd of March and had been quite concerned about this order due to the long time it was taking. I didn't receive any communication from them directly, but I phoned up a couple of times and the lady that answered was easy to deal with and assured me it would be fulfilled shortly - although in both cases it took longer than she said for it to arrive.

Well the parcels all arrived today - about 20 mins ago and everything was there except for one item that I was told was out of stock and they said they have refunded - but this will take a few days to show up on my card statement. So I cannot confirm this yet.

The condition of the items was excellent and everything was new as expected with no damage.

Sad to see this company go and I appreciate all of the hard work that has been done in such challenging times. The only reason I have removed one star is that it would not have taken much to send out a weekly update to let people know that there was still people there working on this - would probably lead to less calls from customers too.

Waiting over 2 months for my order. No contact from company and no longer able to track my order

I placed an order on the 2nd of March, and have finally received a dispatch email today! Looks like it's coming in 2 seperate packages. I'll update my review if/when they arrive. It does seem like they're working their way through them though, if slowly.
Edit: arrived today, all present and correct! Thank you book people!

Just wanted to give other customers some hope of receiving their orders. I placed a large order on the 2nd March when the estimated delivery time was 4 weeks. I phoned customer services last week to be told that my order wasn't ready for dispatch yet but that it would be coming. The lady I spoke to was lovely and very professional but I didn't hold out much hope of receiving my order and was ready to contact PayPal for a refund. However, on the 4th May I received an email to say that my order had been dispatched and it arrived by Hermes this afternoon. All the items were there and in perfect condition. Thank you to all the hard working staff at the Book People, I am so sad to see such a long standing company go into administration, I have been a customer for many years and have always been very impressed by the level of customer service offered. Good luck to all the staff and to everyone else receiving their orders.

Leaving a review, incase it might help other people. Ordered on 29th February, sent a few emails and couple of phone calls. Was assured my order was in the warehouse still.
Last Friday 1st May I had a knock on the door from Hermes delivery lady. Two boxes arrived, I had no dispatch email and only half of the shipping paperwork inside. The items just arrived, two of them were missing and I haven’t received a refund. For the amount missing I’m not chasing it. They are completing orders but there is a long wait. I was just about to open a dispute with PayPal before they turned up. The books are lovely and has definitely kept my children happy during lock down. Such a shame they are closing and feel for the staff who are still trying to get the orders out.

Absolutely disgusted. I ordered and paid for items on 4march and after a couple of weeks I was promised I would receive my order in a few weeks however, I have not received any items and have had no responses from my emails asking for a refund!!
