I want to give them 0 rating
I want to give them 0 rating. This company is big fraud. They said your bill will go down after installing our system. I paid less than 400 dollar with other companies. Since, I joined this scammed company i’m paying more than 600 dollars and again they send us emails that your account is overdue. When we rang them they said oh we are solar zero for this matter you need to call plus energy. I want to cancel my contract with this company.
it's very disappointing and misleading…
it's very disappointing and misleading customers that can safe money by installing their panels which I have done regarding now its ccomplete lying i have the panels for years I'm paying at least $400 more compared to when I didn't have the solar panels.
Panels havent been working and no updates on when they will be fixed
Panels havent been working since just after the announcement that they went into liquidation/new ownership - despite promises that operations would not be disrupted. Still have no working solar and they cant give us an update on when it will be looked at. really disappointing
Misleading
Misleading we were on the belief that we would save money, told only 2 bills ecotricity and solar zero not the case paying Ecotricity horizon energy charges plus solar zero charges plus solar zero monthly subscription took a toll on us financially . Contract should be null and void suppose to receive it once signed up this was 2024 didnt happen received it 10 months later 2025 on the 31st Jan opportunity to cancel didnt receive it.
Mislead intentionally
Since the start of this year I have had Solazero, they have mislead me with the benefits. I have paid more in electricity than I ever have. They sweet talk you and now they are jumping up and down about not getting paid. What have they done to their customers!!! You mislead people, this is what happens. Companies should take note….reviews are powerful. If you mislead people, it will be posted. The damage can be catastrophic. Solazero is an example.
Mostly great but just a few teething…
Mostly great but just a few teething problems because we were not a subscription customer and our install was all new to their process.
Overall we have an excellent system installed and now that we have ironed out those kinks of the very poor information received after the install was done, all is good in the hood.
I would like to say also that head office have some very good efficient staff who wore the brunt of less than proficient staff. They managed to get us all the information we required and you can ask no more than that.
Solar Zero in liquidation.
The company was great when you first joined, but things took a downturn over time. One of the key reasons for its decline, in your view, is the poor customer service, which you rated as far below satisfactory. If only the company had prioritized getting that right, it might have avoided the situation of liquidation.
Very expensive lease option.
We have been with them since approx 2016. The system has never produced anywhere near the power needed. On average it produces approximately 20% of our power,(only 7 panels - we were assured that was plenty!!!) and although the battery allows us to store power, we are still importing 100s of kWh a month. So no savings. We do save on the cost per kWH compared to other rates, as they have an agreement with ecotricity, however they buy back at the same rate, and most months we don’t export anything. Our power bills have not reduced over the time we have been with them. The one redeeming factor is that it works as advertised in a power outage, although only part of the home is covered and the battery is fairly small so we do need to be careful about power use. Not sure how long it would last in the event of a natural disaster when the power could be off for days….
JOINING SOLAR ZERO THINK TWICE
We decided to go with Solar Zero energy so our energy bill will be reduced. I DON'T RECOMMEND ANYONE JOINING.We pay $144 in network levy peak and non peak charges. Then $120 on ongoing monthly payment for the panels and battery. Then we pay about $690 for spot rate charge. This for electricity only. Before moving to Solar Zero our winter bill for Gas and Electricity was around $450. As opposed to $1200 per month. Feels like we have been SCAMMED! !!. We want to get out of the contract. Not sure how.
Scammer
Scammer! Sad to say that my fellow Filipina(From Christchurch) did the sales talk to us and assured us that we could pull out our account from them anytime that we are not happy with their services. Can’t even use our heat pump during this winter, we are scared that we will pay more. Not happy that we are expecting that we will pay less money which never happened, we are paying more than we didn't expect. It seems that me and my husband need to kick our ass to work to give our money to them.
Be Aware
Much of your power bill is made up of Network Charges and this can go up in price. It is your Energy Charges that have a fixed price for the next 25 years so in reality your power bill can and will go up. You pay this on top of the Solar zero bill which for me is $130 monthly and $149.50 monthly. My power bill from ecotricity is $230+ which includes my Network charges of $113+ and my energy charges of $75+. As a result I now pay $350+ for my electricity when I paid less that half that in past. Have another look at your figures making sure you look at Network Charges before signing up.It is not what I expected and I regret joining up as I am now paying way more than before
Solar Zero sales tactics are misleading…
Solar Zero sales tactics are misleading and they fail to disclose all of the associated costs. We are now paying more for power than we have ever paid in our lives and we are not huge users. Their customer service is terrible and they do not answer emails or come back to you when you leave messages. My best advice to you is read the contract right through, word for word and see if it suits your needs. The contract term over 20 years and makes selling your property impossible. Also be sure that you understand you pay for the solar panels (which you never own over 20 years) and you get a separate electricity bill.
Pay double every winter solar zero and Electricity grid !!!!!
We were enjoying Solar zero in Summer … where we only paid Solar zero fixed rent $207 every month and grid electricity was within $100 … which was almost same or lesser than usual bill so was happy
But during winter … from May solar is generating very little power which made us pay more than usual bill amount to grid plus Solar Zero charge of $207 which is much more than usual bill before solar installation
Now I don’t see any benefit of installation of Solar except for less carbon footprint and place like New Zealand where we are so close to sun … Solar panels don’t work for 3 months May till July … plus other low sun days …. Is this worth it ? We are paying more and no savings
May be for some people
May be for some people. I got a quote and looked into how this works. Essentially you take out a 25 year contract with them, pay a fixed monthly fee and the solar panels that they put on your roof for no up front cost, are guaranteed to produce most of the energy you need. HOWEVER, if you want to exit the contract before 25 years, they will let you take the system to a new house, or new owner may take over payments, but if anything goes wrong or you can’t get someone to take over the monthly payments before the 25 years are up, then you are liable to pay a lump sum to pay off the balance of the contract - in my case this was over $45,000. If you know you’ll never move, this is a reasonable way of going solar, but need to be careful. Took me an hour on the phone and reading T+Cs to get this information
Disappointed :)
Solarzero staff called my home, they made two appointments and did not show to either of them. The 2nd appointment someone made a pre-appointment call to change the time and made it a bit earlier. I waited in again all Saturday morning, I did not get a cancellation call just another no show. Very hard now to put my faith in Solarzero, I give you a zero rating, sorry.
Excellent installation
Had Solar Zero's Nothland install team of Ash, Sukh and Oscar at my house installing a 15 panel solar array, inverter and battery. A great team of young guys who know their job and do it very efficiently and with a friendly smile. They're part of a wider team that helped my family and I move through the process of signing up onto the solar energy journey. We're enjoying it so far. Kia ora, Vik.
Transfer of Solar Zero service after house sale
We arranged to transfer our Solar Zero solar system to a new property. Date was confirmed and was prior to property settlement. There was a problem with the contractor who was to remove the panels etc.
We dealt with a lady called Anna Phillips who went beyond our expectations to source a new date with settlement of the property looming. She was most reassuring at a very stressful time for myself and my wife, and we would like to thank her so much for her assistance with this matter
$avings depend on your house.
There's a lot to learn about what they offer because it is complex. Numbers aren't clear, because maybe your roof doesn't get a lot of light!
Essentially for me, my power bills are down 15% since install and I won't have any price rises over the next 20yrs. So by year 10, my bills will be down much more than 15%.
Also, they pay for all the maintenance and replace the battery after 10 years.
Very poor service
We have had nothing but issues with SolarZero. Their customer service is appalling, we've been waiting over a month for our installation to be completed. We've been misinformed countless times and staff seem very confused about the setup process. The people who installed the Solar equipment at our house damaged our garage, breaking a door stop and a door handle. (that are still unfixed). Deeply regret going with Solarzero.
Solar Zero on mobile app
The system itself works as promised. My only tech issue is that my mobile app will not report performance data. The app uses Vivaldi browser. PC access using Chrome is fine. Customer support was not able to help.
