I was backer of their first premium remote, the X1 which was a total fail. A lot of promises that were not kept and lack of support. Still - I gave them two additional chances and they let me down again.

We are even that far, that Sofabaton blocks customers from giving reviews on Amazon if they are not positive.

At the moment, this is my track record:

- X1 (Kickstarter) lot's of shortcomings & faulty scroll-wheel - remote unsable in the meantime
- X1s (free of charge by Sofabaton) - faulty scrollwheel after barely any usage - unusable
- U2 defect display
- U2 (replacement) - faulty scroll-wheel after short period of time - unusable
- U2s (working for now - but not sure how long)
- U3 inconsistent LED backlight, missing features, that were there with the U2s, learned IR commands are not realiably submitted if they are mixed in a device that has also bluetooth commands, still missing features that have been requested already for the X1 (easy fixes)

Every product has severe design flaws, which are partly down to personal taste, but on a large remote like the U3, there is no reason to skip a stop button, when the U2s has one for example ... (and there are a lot others)

I am honest, I only purchased the U3 as my wife wanted to have it due to the virtual mouse feature, but I was again utterly disappointed by the product and the way Sofabaton treats customers by blocking reviews on Amazon.

I purchased a remote control and returned it, but the big issue is that customer service is horrible. They haven't refunded my money. They always give the same answer: they will pass it to the sales department. It's unbelievable how fast they take your money but don't refund it immediately, even after they receive the products.

I ordered and paid and within 2 days got a notice that the X2 was sent. And from there on ... nothing. Apparently they sent to a pickup box, but Austrian Post had no idea where the item was. I phoned Austrian Post 5 times. I wrote 6 emails to sofa baton - every time getting a 'sorry but you should contact Austrian Post' reply. sofabaton has taken zero responsibility for getting the product to me. Bottom line: I spent $400 on something that I never received `and the seller just keeps on pretending it's nothing to do with them. Disgusting.

Got a new TV and 4k player to only discover my Harmony remote was no longer supported. After some research settled on the Sofabaton X2. This is simply the best remote I’ve ever owned - and I’ve been a lover of universal remotes back to the days of the Marantz RC-2000.
The X2 has a terrific sleek build quality. It controls all of my devices perfectly. The IR repeater hub is amazing in how it sends out the signal. I have my components in a cabinet with a glass door but the hub makes it so convenient that I can lazily hit the button i need on the remote without pointing it right at the cabinet. Runs my Roku smoothly as well.
I do not have an overly complicated set up. TV, Blu-ray player, Roku and receiver. For me it runs everything without issue. Mostly use it for activities but occasionally switch it to run specific device. No problems. Have had it for a couple months now. Very happy.
A final note: initially needed a little help with setup and their customer service/tech support was outstanding.

Charged $360 for an X2 remote but 7 weeks later no indication of shipping. Customer service on chat was unhelpful and my impression is that it's a bot.

Will update this review with more info once it reaches a conclusion. I am hoping this does not involve a card chargeback but not very confident at this point.

*Edit* Eventually did receive the product and I am happy with it. Increased to 3/5, averaging 2/5 for customer service and 4/5 for the product.

*Edit* Aug 2026 Tried integrating with Home Assistant and was able to configure it as a "device" and add that to activities. This allowed mapping hard buttons to any Home Assistant action!!!
So happy with this that I've bumped the review up to 4 stars. Product = 5 stars, Customer Service = 2 stars.

Ik heb een universele afstandsbediening op deze website gekocht. Na twee weken was er nog niets opgestuurd en de servicemedewerker achter de chat antwoordde steeds dat zij het alleen aan de afdeling sales kon doorgeven. Uiteindelijk een refund bevestiging gehad, maar geen geld retour. Nu bij PayPal een claim ingediend.
