Second Review – First Review Removed ?

It appears my original review was removed following a complaint from Sinclair, which unfortunately reinforces the impression that genuine criticism is less welcome than glowing, scripted reviews.

For clarity, this review is based entirely on my own experience.

Sinclair also suggested my original review was written in the hope of receiving financial compensation or a goodwill gesture. (Communicated by Cupra UK customer services )That couldn’t be further from the truth!
I wasn’t looking for compensation, nor would I be interested in a Sinclair “goody bag”. I simply wanted to share an honest customer experience.

On Friday 5th, my wife and I visited Sinclair Cupra Swansea with one purpose – to purchase a Cupra Tavascan. We were not casually browsing or wasting anyone’s time. We were ready to buy.

The welcome set the tone immediately. As we entered, we were greeted with a “Can I help you?” delivered in a manner that felt more like “What are you two doing in here?” than a genuine offer of assistance. First impressions matter, and this was not a good one.

We spent around 20 minutes in the showroom, during which several members of staff walked past us. Not one smiled, acknowledged us, or asked if we needed any assistance. It was as though we were invisible.

Eventually, we returned to reception and asked whether we could arrange a test drive. The response was odd: “What, today?” followed by an explanation that most of the sales team were in Barcelona for a vehicle launch. The receptionist approached two salesmen, both of whom appeared completely uninterested and didn’t even come over to speak to us themselves.

We were told that the salesperson working on Saturday would call us, and our details were written on what appeared to be a scrap of paper.

Saturday came and went. No phone call. Exactly as expected.

This wasn’t a speculative enquiry or someone looking for a brochure. We had visited with every intention of buying a Tavascan. The sale was there to be made, yet Sinclair managed to lose it through nothing more than indifference and poor customer service.

As a director of a large company, I spend a great deal of time observing customer service and staff engagement. My comments are based on what I personally witnessed. The lack of professionalism, communication and basic courtesy was genuinely disappointing.

Will Sinclair miss one sale? Probably not. But poor customer service has consequences beyond a single transaction. People share their experiences, both good and bad.

Reading the overwhelmingly positive reviews here, I struggle to reconcile them with the experience we had. Our visit was so completely different that it leaves me questioning how accurately those reviews reflect the service every customer actually receives.

If Sinclair are happy to challenge or remove genuine criticism rather than address it, prospective customers should bear that in mind when reading reviews. Honest feedback exists to help businesses improve. Ignoring or dismissing it achieves the opposite.

Excellent Cupra Dealership

Excellent experience buying and collecting my new Cupra Terramar. Dan Ellis was excellent and knew everything about the product and was friendly and very professional. Also all the staff I and some form of interaction with were exact.

We visited the Gorseinon showroom in…

We visited the Gorseinon showroom in January 2026 to order a new Cupra Formentor. We had a long session with the salesman who went through detailed information about the car and answered all our queries. The buying process was explained clearly to us and we were given a delivery date in April 2026.
Before picking up the new car we phoned the salesman several times with various queries and he was always very patient and able to provide us with the information we requested. All the staff we met at the showroom were always polite and helpful. We picked the car up on 10th April.

Stress free car purchase.

Cupra cars are high quality with lots of technology, cupra Swansea staff are pleasant and friendly, easy to arrange a test drive, buying the car was easy enough not stressful with options discussed and fully explained. Pick up of the car was great as they had the car in the showroom under wraps to be revealed to us on arrival, Claire spent time explaining operations of the car setting up our phones etc. This is the third car I've bought from Cupra Swansea so they must be doing things right.

Pointless service plan?

Really poor experience trying to arrange a service on my car. No response arranging it for weeks and then when I do make contact the service items are not covered by the service plan. Customer service unable to tell me what is a part of my service plan. Really unsure why I cannot be told what is a part of the service plan when they provide it?

Good cars, not so good purchasing experience.

We have been Seat customers since 2005, purchasing from Garej Raymond, a friendly, professional, family run business, who it was an enjoyable experience to buy from. However since their demise, we have purchased our cars from Sinclair Group, our 'local' dealer, and have been disappointed with the purchase and service experience. If it were not the fact that we have been very happy with the brand over this period, and the distance it is for us (living near Llandeilo) to visit other dealers, we would have gone elsewhere. We did consider other brands (Volvo, Volkswagen and Lexus), but decided to remain with Seat/Cupra as we are happy with the quality and reliability of these cars, we were just disappointed with the purchasing experience. To confirm, we are pleased with the car we purchased.

THE SERVICE THAT MATTERS

From phoning and speaking to Martin the first time about the car I was interested in i thought straight away nothing was to much trouble for him and he kept me informed every step of way to me purchasing the car so we'll done afterwards the handover by Catherine again nothing was to much trouble so again top marks alround

Great customer service at Sinclair Cupra

Great customer service in the sales department. Terri the salesperson understood our requirements and was able to match our budget. She thoroughly explained the ordering process, and kept us informed throughout the whole process until handover day. She was knowledgable and friendly during handover, giving us a comprehensive introduction to our new car.

Everybody was so helpful and friendly from the first phone call with Terri to the day of collection with Tom. Also got a great price for my part exchange. They even sent me some lovely new floor mats after I got home.

Shocking from start to finish

Shocking from start to finish
Messed two names of finance my partners and her mothers so had to put it in my name.

Lied to by receptionist being told that nobody was available. But when I called back under another name I was passed straight

through

Had to take finance out with a third party company because of the lack of competency.

And to finish off they give the wrong information to my finance company now so they told them the car was on 14500 but in fact it was on 17800 so imagine the impact that’s having with millage restrictions

They had also sent me another customers finance quote with home address, full name and contact number so have concerns that my personal information may also be disclosed, huge concerns over GDPR breaches.

My partner also received an email from a member of the sales staff that was incredibly unprofessional and inappropriate

The whole experience from start to finish was awful’ took over 4 weeks to get the car due to staff lack of experience, incompetence and lack of communication.

Great experience at Sinclair CUPRA Swansea, everything was transparent and easy to deal with, shout out to Terri Key who was great at keeping me informed and answered any queries I had.
