I am actually a Psychotherapist. Avoid this company at all costs if you are a professional. They regularly take money they should not take. And trying to get that back is a nightmare. I tried to join be they said I did not have the correct credentials. I have the academic credentials, however, because I had not joined an organization they deemed acceptable, at a cost of hundreds of dollars a year, they refused me membership. However, they still charged me, even thought they refused. It's a racket. I wrote about 15 emails asking for an explanation and for the money to be refunded. They ignored any mention the the money they took until the final email. Then gave me some lame excuse that it was for an account I had years ago, but was inactive. If you want robbed, join this lot.

I found a great therapist on here 3 years ago, recently that ended and I was able to find a new therapist I’m really have with. I was able to use the filter to find someone qualified in the type of therapy I was looking for. I found it super easy to use. The counsellors I have found were fully qualified, registered and experienced.

So far I’ll give it one star because you have to go through an application and it will take 24 to 72 hours. If you are in need of mental health care or going through a trauma who has 24 to 72 hours to wait. I think that’s ridiculous. Oh, and they also won’t email you back so don’t even try that. It’s really sad that you have to go through all this when you need assistance.

What's the point of having a website that allows you to connect to therapists who don't respond?

Psychology Today has outdated and damaging information about autism on their site. They answer questions like "can it be cured" and laud ABA as the standard of treatment. ABA is extremely harmful to autistics, making use of dog training techniques, excessively touching people and not providing autistic accommodations to people
who are hypersensitive to sensory stimuli (i.e. forcing them to vacuum without providing any kind of ear protection which can be extremely painful to autistics and can result in meltdowns). ABS denies autistic people agency and autonomy. Autism is not a disease to be treated or cured, it is a neurological difference. Without autistics we wouldn't have much of the technology we currently enjoy.

I didn't get any patients here.

I required a therapist, This website is supposed to make the search effortless but seems to be outdated. Almost all their referrals were given after entering my details and health insurance didn’t accept my insurance. I called 4 referrals who stated to take my insurance but did not.

IT DOESN’T SEEM AS THOUGH PSYCHOLOGISTS AND PSYCHIATRISTS ARE VERY DEDICATED TO HELPING PEOPLE. IT IS ALL ABOUT INSURANCE. NO WONDER THERE ARE SO MANY MENTALLY/ EMOTIONALLY ILL PEOPLE IN OUR SOCIETY.

I took a 50-question self-test on "attachment style". The website stated "After finishing this test you will receive a FREE snapshot report with a summary evaluation and graph. You will then have the option to purchase the full results for $6.95". Well, I guess they didn't lie, but their "snapshot" consisted of a single score ("69") on a single domain of a multi-faceted test - pretty much worthless on its own. This snapshot did not even include specification of my overall measured attachment style, let alone any interpretation of my results. I feel like they took my data and gave me nothing. I take a lot of online psychological tests. I understand there is an exchange and that companies will charge money for detailed results. But most companies give the basic results free. I mean, otherwise there is no incentive whatsoever to take the test (unless one wants to buy the result). I feel I was cheated here. My father worked for Psychology Today (the magazine) in the 1960s. They have really fallen since then. Online articles seem to be written by whoever - irregardless of credentials. It all just seems like one big advertising business to generate passive income. Really lousy. I can see from the other reviews that I am not alone in this conclusion.

I am a certified coach. I was told that Psychology Today allows coaches on their platform, but they are refusing to accept my credentials even though I am an ordained minister, certified mental health coach, and certified professional life coach. After contacting customer service, they approved my account then the next day they deactivated it saying I do not qualify to be on their platform.

My daughters pediatric doctor suggested going to Psychology Today website to find a therapist for her. We have sent emails to several with no responses from any except one. The one that setup a virtual consultation didn’t even show up for the consultation. No email, no phone call, nothing. I called her office and it just rings with no response. Thanks for nothing Nadia Holmes. Why are pediatric docs recommending this site for finding a therapist instead of loca doctors? After 6 attempts with different therapist. We are done. This site is horrible. I will have to try another avenue for my 15yr old.

How do I leave a review about a psychologist my partner and I had in through this company?
There is nowhere to leave a review. There has been no follow up or anything. Wanted to find out how to leave a review as when you talk to a therapist, you are seeking to get help and when the help is not forthcoming, if will leave you in a more compromised and vulnerable position. Any help/ direction would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a provider listed on Psychology Today. Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. They don't provide any way for clinicians to provide feedback or make suggestions about the platform, and when I contacted them with a complaint, their customer service reps actually ghosted me. I wasn't asking for Psychology Today to immediately change their platform to meet my expectations, I was simply asking for my feedback to be acknowledged and for assurance that it reached the desk of someone in management. In this post-pandemic era, many therapists are licensed in multiple states in order to provide teletherapy to patients across the country. Psych Today requires clinicians to create multiple accounts and separately pay for each account if we want to show up in search results for more than two states! This is a bad faith move and an enormous financial burden on small business owners, in addition to a sign that the company is hopelessly out of touch with the professional needs of contemporary therapists. Behind the scenes, this company is unprofessional and clearly doesn't prioritize the clinicians or patients it claims to serve. There are plenty of other sites that connect therapists with clients, and with service like this, Psychology Today will become gradually less relevant to therapists until it finally goes out of business.

Absolutely disgusting and discriminatory articles about certain mental health conditions which are already marginalised and shamed on a daily basis resulting in suicides and ostracisation. Shame on this supposedly "credible" source.

Impossible to contact the customer service, the website doesn't work. I subscribed to the magazine in November and still nothing... I am cancelling my subscription. Extremely poor experience and I feel robbed.

Today I went to contact one of the therapists listed as available and after writing a whole summary and expecting to hear back from that therapist, the office contacted me that she is unavailable but they have many other therapists she could set me up with. After asking several questions, the office basically admitted to me that they are falsely listing this very experienced therapist on Psychology Today as available but using a "bait and switch" technique to offer other less experienced therapists to clients as options.

When I contacted Psychology Today about the lies that were being posted on their website, I was shocked to get an email back from Charlie Scholtz saying that Psychology Today doesn't care. They only care if the therapists aren't who they say they are or if a therapist is legally not allowed to practice. So in other words, if they can't get in trouble for it, Psychology Today would be happy to knowingly print lies about therapists' availability on their website, even if those particular therapists list they are available when they are not. This causes hours and hours of clients calling and "being rejected" by therapists who were never available to begin with, as well as unending search time for people who should be getting more immediate care. This practice is very unethical.

Psychology Today is participating in sham behavior.

Total scam. Subscribed last December never received a single issue! I called in March of this year and was told the back subscriptions would be sent out...NOTHING! Called today to cancel and they are prorating the refund! This company is a joke!
