Tailored Support from a Compassionate and Dedicated Counsellor
My experience receiving counseling from Saba Hassan was fantastic.
Within a short time she had a good sense of my illness, and symptoms, and was able to recommend treatment that had a profoundly positive effect almost immediately. Her compassionate and encouraging approach gave me the confidence to keep trying and I was able to make huge progress with her help.
Also, I always felt like Saba was genuinely committed to seeing me do better.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have found her.
Cast a wide net
I connected with several therapists to see what worked best for me. They laid out their working methods and styles, and asked for my expectations for therapy. some people I clicked with, others I didn’t. I settled on a great therapist in Oxford, Saba Hassan. Easy to talk to, very insightful using a wealth of resources and different methods. I looked forward to our sessions each week and she gave me the tools I needed to help myself.
it can take some perseverance to find the right person for you, but stick with it and you’ll find a gem, like Saba :)
Waste of time
Literally haven’t found a therapist on it and I’ve tried for 2 years. It shows “therapists” and “psychologists” and show they are available but when you email or call they say they aren’t taking new clients. Or they don’t even respond! It’s a literal joke and waste of time. If you are looking for quick help for your mental state I suggest looking else where at a reliable and real website.
PT Does not Vet Therapists nor Allow Reviews
This review is based on PT’s “pay to play” vetting methodology and that they don’t publish therapist reviews. It is relevant to my experience with one therapist, found only on PT, with no other online presence or site. Jessica Jackson of Strung Together LLC in Niles, MI is the therapist in question.
My ex and I, in couple’s therapy, were initially delighted by Jessica’s engaging, vibrant, light personality. She has a beautiful warmth and ability to communicate compassion that is impressive and enviable. Soon, Jessica made frequent cancellations, limiting access to consistent treatment. My former partner is an addict, and frequency is key when dealing with someone with that disability.
I felt that my partner, who was the patient of record, experienced prioritization and favoritism simply by virtue of being the person “on the books.” I have often wondered if, had I been patient of record, the reverse would have been true; this would be equally problematic in a couples scenario.
Jessica, and I’m so grateful for this, often noted that I should investigate the possibility I have adult autism. I am pursuing testing. It was often noted that my communication style expected clarity and a literal approach. (As an educator I believe the baseline in communication should be simplicity and clarity and this preference could, of course, be magnified by my possible autism.) However, instead of finding common ground between my straightforward style and my ex’s much more implicit style, I was told that I was the one that needed to be aware, to adjust.
There were several times I used words and psychological terms, like DARVO, and Jessica either didn’t know what they meant or did not know the correct meaning of them. (When I used “DARVO,” she responded with a comment regarding sexual deviance, for instance.) I chalk this up to the fact that she’s a wonderful child therapist and has less couples training. Again, my review only refers to my singular experience in couples therapy.
My final difficulty in therapy was dismissiveness, and not cautious and fair investigation, when I mentioned I felt my time was being purposefully manipulated and when I noted I suspected my ex is a narcissist. Instead of unpacking and talking, I was told to be cautious with my use of such terms. My ex was a verbally, emotionally, financially, and physically abusive narcissist. I had blinders on due to a challenging childhood. Had I been legitimately heard when I shared these concerns, I believe I would not have remained in the awful situation I was in for as long as I did.
After my breakup but in the midst of court with my ex, I emailed Jessica, given her role as a carer professional and as a neutral party. I told her I was fearful of my ex and wanted time-stamped documentation “just in case.” I did not hear back. Things escalated with my ex and I emailed again, for the sole purpose of documentation.
This time. Jessica wrote back and in addition to being dismissive about my safety concerns, actually slapped me on the wrist for contacting her. She noted that she “doesn’t go to court.” She also stated she’s not a lawyer nor a judge and does not give legal advice. I of course know and respect these clear facts. However, given she felt she would be above the law should she be called to court was very scary to me. I had reached out to her not as a judge or lawyer but as a woman. I had assumed that she would prioritize the physical and psychological safety of another human, a former patient. I admit fault if I overstepped in contacting her and in that I made assumptions based on her demographics- that a gay woman, a democratic feminist, would prioritize protection of a victim. Do we not always, as a practice and out of the burden of caution, assume a potential victim is at risk when they say they are?
Again, I believe I would not have stayed in my relationship- one full of lies, abuse, aggression, if I had been properly and neutrally heard during therapy. I reiterate with all my heart that Jessica is a fantastic one-on-one teen therapist. I believe she’s doing important work and literally saving lives via her sessions. However, based on my experience, I could not recommend nor endorse engagement in a couples therapy format with her.
Effective Marketing, Lacks Clinical Credibility
PsyToday is a great marketing site that seems to have lost credibility over the years - especially when they decided to start listing temp-licensed and interns in a way that does not draw direct attention to that difference. Far too many people have been directed to these people who have little to no experience. Additionally, listing clinicians can claim whatever specialty they like - with no proof or metric to determine any level of mastery in that area. Highly misleading to the public.
Rachel Bates on Psychology Today only cares about her money
Rachel Bates is on Psychology Today just to milk money from her clients and least bothered about how her actions or suggestions are going to mess her clientele’s lives. In our case it felt she just focused on one or two things and kept bringing those repeatedly. In lots of areas it felt she assumed things and had some biases. Regarding information sharing with Social services, she was requested to let us know before providing any feedback to social services but she didn’t care and shared the information without our knowledge. She also stated to enrol with Insurance companies when we started the sessions but didn’t enrol even after a month and we had around 12 sessions with her. It just felt she was mainly focused around making money and no empathy towards her clients like us. Never recommending her. It also feels she is superficial when it comes to her knowledge and subject matter expertise.
Mary B
Mary B. Seidel a counselor:
As the owner of "the Goldens," I must address the inaccuracies in your complaint and your account of the incident.
Your unleashed dog approached me and my dogs at the end of the park. I asked if your dog was friendly, as you were approaching us directly. You confirmed that your dog was friendly, and when I asked if our dogs could meet, you also agreed. However, when I unleashed my dogs, you dropped to the ground.
You did not mention that your own dog was off leash or that you initiated the encounter. Additionally, you failed to acknowledge the presence of the man with the Corgi who was also there. Instead, you chose to portray me as unstable, falsely suggesting that I unleashed my dogs aggressively toward you upon seeing you.
As a counselor, you should understand the seriousness of making false accusations, especially when there are witnesses and evidence that contradict your story.
Spreading false information about someone is never advisable. It appears you sought to present yourself as a victim by fabricating a story. If this provided you with some satisfaction amidst what must be a challenging and sad life for you, so be it. Please be aware that your post has been screenshot, and any footage or witness statements have been preserved.
Gwendolyn Wendy Williamson is a horrid person
Gwendolyn Wendy Williamson is listed as a therapist on their site. She has harassment me on facebook for the past 2 month. I created a new profile and thought i blocked all of her fake profiles and then she attacks me from her business page. She is also very messy with her clients information. She sent me a snapshot of our messaging but at the bottom included the snapshots from her phone of her client Roseanne Rice's insurance card, her schedule with other clients and Wendy Passport information as well. I would not trust this person with my personal information.

I was misled by the company when they offered me 6 months free membership but charged me for those 6 months I'm very disappointed about this.
Betrayed by therapist!!!
I used a psychologist named Dr. Charles Rubio, based in part because I found him endorsed on Psychology today.
I would not recommend him to anyone, and I would certainly not give him permission to privately discuss anything with family.
Dr. Rubio was my therapist for two to three years. During my sessions with Dr. Rubio, he asked if I would allow him to contact my daughter, who was the main subject of our therapy. I verbally agreed to this, thinking it would be similar to family counseling, where I would be privy to the conversation. However, he later only gave me HER email replies, cutting of his comments to her. I felt it somewhat strange at the time, since he was my therapist, acting on my behalf, and with my permission. I felt I should have had full knowledge of the entire discussion, but I did push my request.
It became clear, as time went by, that he had reinforced her feeling about me, for example telling her he agreed that I was judgmental. This was verified by information she sent me (a print screen of his email). Instead of assisting in reconciliation, he was criticizing me and providing ammunition such as comments like “your mother does not seem like she is trying to achieve reconciliation.” Really? Trying to help me? Additionally, I was unable to get him to provide me with the entire conversation in May 2024, which I felt was an effort at self preservation.
I would never recommend as I feel his methods are questionable at best
I was seeking help from a therapist and…
I was seeking help from a therapist and attempted to use Psychology Today as a referral service. It was recommended that I reach out to at least 2 or more therapists as possibilities. I reached out to 2 therapist, stating my issues and need for help. They both posted very positive profiles and messages. They also encouraged people to not be afraid to reach out and take the very important first steps to reaching out for help. I took that step and reached out. Silence, I received absolutely nothing from either therapist! I find this unethical and unprofessional!! Psychology Today needs to vet these therapists more thoroughly. Their unprofessionalism and unresponsiveness could cause serious damage to potential clients seeking help for their mental well-being. Shameful!!!
Gwendolyn Wendy Williamson is a…
Gwendolyn Wendy Williamson is a mechanical materialism- philosophical idealist that tries to convince her patients that there really is a Kantian thing-in-itself nature to reality. Solipsist. Then she goes after her critics on the Facebook ,talking about threatening legal action.

I was seeing Chris Randolph as I needed…
I was seeing Chris Randolph as I needed an outside therapist while attending Seneca Center. When I was doing the pre-first appointment paperwork it asked what I had for insurance and I put it down. I had also spoke to him on the phone and told him and he said it was fine. Three appointments in and two weeks into my 4 weeks at Seneca Center I get a notification from Chris that he is not getting paid by my insurance and is canceling our sessions unless I can prove he will get paid another way. That is classic patient abandonment. It is malpractice. And to top it off he complained because he wasn't going to get paid for the previous meetings, and told me to let Seneca Center know I no longer had a counselor, which would have gotten me kicked out. I disagreed with his deduction that he wouldn't get paid and sent a message to my insurance co and forgot about it. I completed the program but am unable to continue with the needed therapy because I have no counselor. I tried another counselor two weeks ago, had our first meeting, had a horrible weekend, missed the 8 am meeting, and she abandoned me for missing the appointment (Rose Mylott). Also patient abandonment, also malpractice.
Good luck getting any coucelor or…
Good luck getting any coucelor or therapist to call or email back out of over 50 in my area I got 2 responses. First one wouldn’t get enough money from my insurance and second one is in limbo and wants an interview before becoming a patient! For real- waste more money to determine if I’m good enough or not- wow
Excellent articles
Excellent source of information in general for non-psychologists. (Not a replacement for professional advice though.)
fraud
I am a psychologist and I requested to remove my profile from their website. Surprisingly, following my request, I received communication from two people to learn more about my clinical practice and fees. Initially, the correspondence appeared legitimate, as they briefly talked about themselves and expressed their emotional difficulties clearly. However, upon further interaction, it became increasingly evident that these were not genuine.
This manipulation of communication, veiled under the guise of a prospective client inquiry, is unacceptable and deceptive.
Nqobile Nzimande-Modau
I would strongly caution anyone from going to see Nqobile Nzimande-Modau. She is extremely negligent and slack in her approach, particularly when it comes diagnosing disorders. She is clearly very inexperienced, regrettably, to the destruction of a person’s mental health and relationships.
Not worth the money, but more importantly, not worth the emotional turmoil and strain she puts on your mental health.
Marina Pouliadi - unprofessional
I would avoid this person if you come across the name. She was incredibly unprofessional on every meeting in some way or other, from eye rolling to her own troubles clearly effecting her mood. A lack a common sense, general knowledge and understanding of society is needed in such roles and unfortunately Marina is extremely out of touch and lacking in maturity.
