This review reflects one of the worst..

This review reflects one of the worst veterinary experiences someone I know has ever had. The vet was shockingly rude, cold, and dismissive, showing zero compassion for either the owner or the animal. Basic questions were met with attitude, and serious concerns were brushed off as if they didn’t matter.

The lack of care and professionalism during the visit was alarming. What should have been handled with urgency and expertise was instead treated casually and carelessly. The animal ultimately died, and the way the situation was handled left the owner devastated and angry.

A vet’s job is to protect animals and support their owners during difficult moments. This clinic failed on every level.

The good and the bad

Always very caring. Time taken to examine my dog identified heart condition which is now controlled with meds from cardiac specialist.
He also has undiagnosed arthritis for which meds are prescribed by Parks. Sadly they have now decided to charge £15 for each monthly insurance claim, for each condition. Muliple claims are not allowed My dog is now over 10 years old. I factored in that the cost of insurance would rise as he got older, that I pay an excess each year and now pay 20% of the cost of each claim. What i didn't factor in was a minimum of £180 a year for the vets to process the insurance claim. There is absolutely no way of avoiding this if I want to claim. They have me over a barrel. This to me seems ethically and morally wrong. To say it is standard practice now does not mean it is compulsory practice. The cost of medication from the practice is more than double the cost online, so a massive mark up and profiteering. However, even if i buy online, i need a prescription and for the vet to process the insurance claim. I repeat that they have all of us over a barrel. I am very disappointed. Luckily the cardiac specialist doesn't make this charge as well

Racism in the veterinary profession can…

Racism in the veterinary profession can significantly impact the experiences of Black, Asian, and minority ethnic (BAME) individuals, leading to feelings of alienation and insecurity. Studies highlight the need for greater awareness and action to address these issues within the field, particularly in low ethnic diversity professions like veterinary medicine.

They helped the stray we found.

They helped the stray we found.
We called early on a Sunday morning because the stray cat that visits us was looking very unwell. Within 20 mins of calling for advice they took him in to administer emergency care (infected abscess from a dog bite). No payment required!

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!

I am giving 1 star just because there is no possibility to give less than this! They have killed 2 of my cats (1 year apart) and dared to deny any wrongdoing. Unfortunately there is no way of winning with them in court without having pockets of money and that can take years!
They don’t test properly, their ‘specialists’ are uneducated and inexperienced at best or neglectful and lazy, all advice is hit and miss with only objective - to drain you out of money and not helping your pet.

In addition to 2 dead cats, they have released my dog after spaying still under anaesthetic, unable to walk or stay awake!

They do not listen to their customers who know their pets and know that something is wrong! AVOID!

Expensive or extortion ????

Been a customer of the park group (Leicester) for over 20 years & have always been more than happy with my dogs care (only 1 exception) never been the most economical to use but the level of care & 24/7 365 availability is a large part of my always being registered with them.
Todays vist was fine & of the usual standard, that's until i got the £73.92 invoice for a medication that's
readily available from Animed for £19.69. Profiteering at is best, they should be ashamed.

Only good things to say about Park Vets

Unfortunately people tend to write about bad experiences on these things and not the good.
We took our dog Molly to Glenfield for 14 years until she passed away.
Our dog Lucy Marston is 20yr old and I have nothing but respect and praise for the team here. She recently had an operation and the care and love she has received is second to none. The ladies on reception are professional and polite. The vets and assistants really care about your pets.
Thank you for all you do!
Mark is amazing! Get him to move back to the UK. Keep him! 😊

Park Vets Whetstone: the Good, the Bad & the Horrendous

Park Vets at Whetstone is a veterinary practice which has good & extremely bad points. The standard of the veterinary surgeons in consultations is, in my experience, excellent. However, the general management has serious failings. The practice boasts RCVS commendations but one has to assume that the RCVS restricts itself to vet performance. 3 problems have arisen in the last year. A relatively minor failure is dealing with persistently barking dogs in what is a comparatively small waiting area. It is an issue which recurs regularly & which staff ignore, to the detriment of intimidated waiting animals - & their owners. There are Pagers & a safe outdoor area &, at least sometimes, unoccupied rooms but staff take no action. Much more seriously, early this year my much loved cat had to be put to sleep. I authorised cremation & return of her ashes in a casket. Subsequently, it was discovered that she had been sent for mass incineration & no ashes existed. Park Vets actually criticised this description, saying it was instead anonymous cremation after which ashes were scattered in the Garden of Rest. On checking this with the crematorium concerned, it was found to be untrue: mass cremation did indeed occur & ashes were not scattered anywhere. I dread to think where they ended up. Park Vets made the original error, had no follow-up procedure for individual cremations & gave an entirely false impression of what had happened. And now? Returning from a vet appointment 2 days ago, I realised I had not asked for test results on a sick cat. I rang to ask about this & was told receptionists could not respond to such questions & a note would be added to the vets’ action list. A vet did not ring. I rang twice the following day, to be told exactly the same thing, despite my explanation that I was concerned for a sick elderly cat. No return call was made that day or, even worse, the day after. Park Vets Whetstone are indeed the location of the Good, the Bad, & the Absolutely Awful.

Well what more can we say about this…

Well what more can we say about this vet group ? Amazing , we had to rush our cat Bubbles in on Sunday as she couldn't walk on her back leg they saw her within 20 minutes of the call (yes we had to pay £250 up front ) but we get that back from insurance and why shouldn't they they are not our pets vets we usually use so am pleased they saw us, they kept her overnight done xray and saw she had broken every bone across her foot, the next day I had a call from vet who explained a few options and we went with what he recommended she is home now as comfortable as she can be and still have to go back every week for 8 weeks . We can't thank you all enough even down to the admin staff who are sorting our insurance for us you are all amazing can't wait until we can add both our cats to your surgery in Glenfield unfortunately there are no spaces for obvious reasons . Again from myself Phil Dell and my wife Shantel Dell and of course Bubbles thank you from the bottom of our hearts your amazing 👏 xx

They claim to care

They claim to care about animals but even though I have insurance they won't see my dog unless I have £155 to give them upfront.
I told them I don't have it and my dog really needs to be seen but was told unless I pay the dog has to suffer.
I HAVE INSURANCE FOR A REASON!
If I crash my car into a brand new Audi I don't have to pay out of my own pocket and then claim the money back from the insurance company and they're just dealing with piles of metal.
Imagine claiming to be in the business of helping animals then turning sick pets away even though they're insured because your greedy money grabbers and the owners don't have half a weeks wages to give you.
They should be ashamed!!

To everyone who owns a cat or dog..do…

To everyone who owns a cat or dog..do your vet homework first and check out vets who offer emergency cover and what they charge. We got directed to Park vets -Glenfield via our vets out of hour service. We thought we would give them a try as our dog had a deep cut to her inside back leg. On phoning we were told the consultation would cost £200 for a Saturday afternoon visit. To say my other half took a deep intake of breath was an understatement. When we got there it was quiet but got busier. Eventually we got called in for our consultation to tell me what I already knew. They would have to have her in to clean and stitch wound. Asked how much it would cost.......sharp in take of breath. Other half nearly on the floor when a total of between £800 to £1200 for a clean and a few stitches! Op due to be done about 5pm. Well we left her there..it needed to be done. I got some earache in the car home. I rang about 6.30-op not been done they will ring me when it is. 9pm rang again as not heard..op not done. At this I decided to go and fetch the dog home. Lady I saw very apologetic and the op would be done by morning should I wish to change my mind.Had a few emergencies in. I left paying about £235 ish as dog had been given some jabs. When we got home dog was in serious need of toilet facilities in both departments so not sure if she was given opportunity to go whilst there 7 hours.Lack of communication left us twiddling our thumbs all evening. If they had said the surgery delayed we could have got other farm jobs done and gone to bed. However as it was we left and went elsewhere the next morning. Bill next day from different vet just over half of what we paid Park. Price was for visit, consultation and antibiotics. Not been stitched up either way dog or us, as would now need old skin cut off. Wound is healing nicely. I think the pricing is over the top and would not recommend this vet practice. They are relying on the fact you need a vet and at any price.Would be interesting to know if registered clients get a better deal?

Money grabbing

Took my jack Russell to parkvets Cardiff for his flea treatment
And to check a loss at fur on his back
I was told the consultation fee of £31.49 on the phone when I made the appointment and asked if I had other pets,I told them about my yorkie and that I was thinking of booking him into be neutered
It was suggested I bring him in for a free nurse check to check his weight etc
On arrival Leo was seen first
And we went from a consultation fee to flea treatment to steroids and mousse for his back £80 expensive just for that but fair enough IF that's what he needed
I asked the price at this point so all ok so far
He then looked at my yorkie I said isn't it the nurse for the free check and was told he can do the free check so all good
He weighed him, then to get his heartbeat wanted to leave the room with him for the nurse to hold him
Baffled me as he's tiny but the vet insisted ,I then heard my dog yelping in the next room
Checking a heartbeat he said so what was he doing
He brought my dog back soaking wet and yelping telling me he needed a scan and blood tests umm for what ?
He then told me as it had taken longer than usual he would be charging me a consultation fee
At this point told him I wouldn't be paying that
He became aggressive in his tone and told me his boss said I must pay
I told him no and paid my bill for Leo and left
All they care about is money not animals and the free nurse check is clearly to fleece you out of more money
