Would have given no stars if possible. 3 power cuts in 5 days, numerous cuts in the last few months, normally 3 to 4 hours but one over 12 hours. No point phoning as staff unable to say why this keeps... Mehr ansehen

Shocking service, excuse the pun!

Unfortunately I have to provide a star however this is one more than they deserve! 3rd Jan application went in to have an EV charger installed. 1 month later after hearing nothing from them I called them to get an update to find that they had closed the application as they had heard nothing from me?? New application was submitted and all paperwork signed on 14th Feb. I need to be de-looped and have a fuse upgrade, they also recommended that my tails be upgraded from my supplier all would take approx. 6 weeks. Octopus have been out and done the work needed by them, however Northern PowerGrid have conducted 2 site visits to confirm I am on a 3 phased supply (something they already knew) and 8 weeks later still no work planned. My main issue with them is the huge wall of silence. Getting any kind of an update from them is impossible. I phone, I get promised a call back that doesn't happen, I phone again, I get promised a call back. This cycle never ends. ANYONE reading this thinking of getting an EV check your electrical supply first as you could end up in the same boat as me, the only ways I have of charging is either public or slow charge. Public wipes out any and ALL cost savings from moving to an EV slow charging is well slow! Honestly how this government thinks it can get rid of petrol and diesel engines by 2030 when the infrastructure and the organisations responsible for managing it are incompetent is beyond me.

Absolutely shocking customer service!

Absolutely shocking customer service!
We've had 12 power cuts in the last 12 months, but Northern Powergird consider this acceptable and say it meets their standards.
What incredibly low standards they have set for themselves and their customers.

Fuse upgrade for EV charger

As part of an EV charger installation, I was advised that a fuse upgrade would be required. The first part of the work has been carried out which was described as a 'downgrade prior to the upgrade' by the sub-contracted electrical engineer that carried out the work. He advised that the meter tails needed to be upgraded which has since been done by EON and that someone would be in contact about the next steps.

A week or so went by so I rang for an update and was told that the connections team would ring me. I was called and the lady said that I had not sent off the agreement form to go ahead with the work so this needed to be done (strange considering that part of the work had been carried out). I searched my emails and found the form and sent this back asking for an update. Since then, I have rang on numerous occasions and been promised call backs. I have emailed the northern powergrid representative who sent out the original forms when EON requested the update, but have received no call backs or email replies.

When I rang yesterday I was given the number for the sub-contractors. I have rang them and also received no call back or update. I really don't think it should be my responsibility to ring a sub-contractor to get an update for the job being ran by Northern Powergrid.

This entire process is taking a far too long and now there seems to be radio silence with no further updates. Why someone can't give me an update by replying to an email is beyond me. The lady from EON has also tried to get 'an urgent update' to which there has been no reply. This us simply not good enough and I am currently left charging my car at work or on public platforms. If I could rate this service as zero I would- shocking customer service.

Hopeless

As I write this review we are experiencing our 6th power outage this morning!
The system has been on and off repeatedly over the last two months. I'm told something keeps touching the overhead lines on the grid. Well isn't that what preventative maintenance is for ?!?!?
Maybe if they hadn't sent £300 million to the shareholders they could have hired a helicopter to check . Same meaningless apologies and lack of substance every time they respond. I lost a WiFi speaker due to a drop in voltage . Who's going to pay for that ....me !

External fuse blow out

After having a fuse blow out externally we cannot credit the service enough.
Fantastic service from the initial phone call to the engineer call out.
Swift action was taken and we had our power back on swiftly.

Customer service team resolved complaint very well

I work from hone. A planned power cut was due to take place at short notice but then, after making alternative arrangements to work incurring inconvenience and travel costs, the power cut was cancelled on the same day. Complained to customer services team - handled and dealt with very well.

Ongoing excellent service

Ongoing excellent service. We live in the middle of nowhere, and we have fewer and shorter power drop outs than might be expected. The one’s we have are predictable, wind/trees/overhead wires and always accompanied with prompt texts and updates.

Thank you Mid evening power cut to my sisters…

Mid evening power cut to my sisters home and her adjoining elderly neighbour, both vulnerable. My sister is reliant upon an electric bed, blanket and her phone being charged and struggles during a power cut for health reasons. Powergrid worked in to the early hours and finally reconnected the power. Their call out response and communication were excellent. Of course we are so sorry that neighbours may have been disturbed but we are so grateful that the problem was resolved. A big thank you to all concerned.

Congratulations to the team at Northern…

Congratulations to the team at Northern Powergrid for getting our electric reconnected over night after Storm Eowyn. We can see from the NPG interactive map that their teams are incredibly busy but for us their performance and method of communication has been so better than after Storm Arwen. Thank you to all involved.

Egregious Apathy, Incompetence, and Complete Ignorance of Customer Complaints, there are no words that truly describes the disappointment.

I honestly don’t know where to start…

I've been in contact with Northern Powergrid multiple times regarding an ongoing issue with frequent power outages, but despite my repeated attempts (around 8 emails since their last response), l've received no meaningful response or resolution.
My concerns have been completely ignored, and the “apology” I received, if you can call it that felt insincere at best.

It's been extremely frustrating to deal with such a lack of accountability. Not only have they failed to address the issue or offer any proper solutions, but their silence on the matter has had a serious negative impact on my mental health.
The lack of response has left me feeling as though my concerns don't matter, and frankly, it's disheartening.

When I've asked for clarity, compensation, or direction on how to escalate my complaint, I've either received vague or no responses.
This ongoing disregard for customer concerns is not just unprofessional; it's damaging to those affected by their service.

I even contacted the complaints department and not once have I had an email from them to even acknowledge the complaint.

I've been patient for far too long, but at this point, I'm being forced to write this review hoping it’s taken seriously.

If they truly cared about their customers, they would be responsive, take responsibility, and resolve complaints promptly.

If you value your time, peace of mind, and expect any form of accountability from a company, I highly recommend avoid contacting Northern Powergrid.

They have failed to meet even the most basic standards of customer service, and I am thoroughly disappointed.

Northern Powergrid's blatant disregard for their customers is nothing short of disgraceful.

They've shown zero accountability, zero urgency, and their complete failure to resolve this issue proves they couldn't care less about me and or others looking at similar reviews.

This company is a joke, and I wouldn't trust them to change or let alone hold a lightbulb.

I really am unsure as to where to go from here to take it further, but i'll continue to voice my frustration until this is addressed.

EXCELLENT RESPONSE

Thank you Northern Powergrid for excellent service today. Our power went off shortly before 5 am. Reporting the power cut was very easy to do. Initially told it would hopefully be sorted by 6.30 am. I felt this was optimistic, so not surprised to be told more likely to be noon. However, a few minutes ago (approximately 7.20 am), power was restored. Particularly impressed as the weather conditions are so challenging currently. We are very happy.

Excellent service very professional with great communication

Our electricity went off at 12.00pm 31st December. After ringing up immediately the response from them was amazing they came out straight away. The engineers worked tirelessly through high winds and in the dark having to replace broken cables, replace electricity posts damaged over time and connected us at 23.45 to see in the New Year. Today 1st January Electricity went off again at 13.00 and came back on 20.30. Would like to thank the gentleman who came to our door with hot water to have a hot drink and cheered our 2yr old grandaughter up. The telephone calls keeping us updated and asking if we needed anything were very much appreciated. Thank you for all your hard work.

Contacted Powergrid and was immediately…

Contacted Powergrid and was immediately reassured by Simon who helped me through my anxieties. He kept me informed of the situation and finally phoned me back when the power was back on to see if we were ok. I don’t know what I would have done without him, he was a star. Thankyou so much.

Onsite straight away

Came home to no electricity power called 105 who advised people on the job already, they were drilling for a hour or so then I got electricity. Well done workers for sorting it quickly.
