I'm in my late 40s and I have been a fountain pen user for my entire life. I've got a number of expensive pens, many of which I have had for years. I've bought cheap pens for every day use and never really enjoyed using them. Last year I discovered the Mr Pen range of Italix pens. My first was a Parson's Essential, then I bought a Churchman's Prescriptor, and now I have just bought a Captain's Commission. I cannot put into words how good these pens are. They are great value for money and a joy to use. The build quality is as good, if not better, than pens double or triple the price.

Once used you will find it difficult to stop using them. I use to rotate my pens. Fill, use and then rest. With three Italix pens I find I am not using my other pens. I am just rotating between the three Italix models I own (Parson's, Churchman's and now the Captains).

Finally, the sales/after sales support from Mr Pen is also excellent. I look forward to adding to my collection as and when new models are released.

This pen is such a pleasant surprise. Nice smooth italic nib with an easy fill converter. Got the pen in a week all the way from the UK. I would definitely buy from them again.

The pen, a Parson's Essential is a beautiful pen with a very smooth nib at a reasonable price.
Unfortunately the nib is too small for me (I have large hands) but nib size was no secret. I simply should have observed the photos better. If this pen is not pleasant for me to write with, then it is fully due to lack of consideration from my side.
I am not happy with the pen but I am the only one to blame, hence the 5 stars to P.J. Ford.

This is my first italix pen, I chose this pen as I love writing with an italic pen but have found them difficult to find and often found they do not flow well.
On getting this pen out of the box and using it, it flowed so well that I was highly delighted. I chose the black one and have filled it with a black cartridge,will be sorely tempted to buy a different colour pen and fill it with whichever colour that pen is,so I can colour co-ordinate pen and ink.

Items were delivered with a little error, the response was immediately and efficient.

Heard about the Churchman's Prescriptor and the mrpen.co.uk website from an online review. Was very interested in the pen and found the website easy to navigate and that it contained a great of detail of information about the pen. The nib customization that is available at no extra charge was a total surprise. The oblique italic nib option was the deal maker for me in purchasing this pen. I'm looking forward to receiving the pen soon. The only place where I believe the website is deficient is in not allowing tracking of packages. In the US, most sites provide shipping tracking features. I wish I knew when the pen would arrive. It is an overseas shipment, so I know it won't be super fast; but I would love to know at least an estimated delivery date. Other than that, the website made for a satisfactory shopping experience and purchasing was fairly easy as well. I will definitely be back (have my eye on the Parson's Essential)!

Yes this is my second Parson's pen, (my son "borrowed" the first one) and I also have a 'Captain's Commission' another excellent pen. Both pens are excellent in every respect and each is a definite bargain at the prices charged, similar pens would cost at least double elsewhere. The nibs are very smooth and the ink flow is perfect, writing as soon as the nib touches the paper. I sometimes think "why buy a pen anywhere else". Thank you Mr Pen.

After questions from my students, I decided to improve the legibility of my handwriting by returning to the script I learnt at school - the beautiful italic hand. After practise with a good pen but which began to break down and to scratch with much use, it was time to change to the Rolls Royce of fountain pens: Mr Pen's "Parsons Essential".
There are many words to describe the writing action and the ink flow and the feel of the barrel and the distribution of the weight and the quality of the nib but one word covers all - superb. And I now own two : one for red ink and the other for black... and my students know exactly what I've written.

Purchased the Essentials fountain pen with a medium italic nib, took about 11 days to receive the item. Overall the pen is okay, it has a very smooth nib when the sweet spot is hit.

There are always interesting offers on some lovely (and some unusual pens). Service is superfast, and I've never had a reason to complain or be disappointed about my purchases.

Bought the Parson's Essential from Mr Pen. Shipped out the day I purchased it. Took some time to arrive in the UAE but well worth the wait. Pen writes beautifully straight out of the box. Had some initial questions around nib size, etc., before I pulled the trigger--all of which Mr Pen addressed almost immediately. Very pleased with the purchase and very satisfied with the service. Highly recommended!

This pen is amazing! I have the Italix medium point. The pin is substantial but not too heavy. It writes beautifully. It does not skip nor blot. The nib has been ground and set up to perfection. It will be my go-to pen from now on. I have many fountain pens, some much more expensive. This one writes as well or better than most of them. It is very much worth it's very reasonable price.

There are many sites for "pens", and some of them are U.S. based. For the most part they promote very expensive pens suitable mostly as collector's items or gifts for those who do not use them for professional purposes. For good, well-made pens meant to be used by professional calligraphers and artists, I find MrPen offers an excellent selection of reasonably priced tools. I am well pleased with what I have obtained from them, and fully expect to order more in the future.

Really tried to help to repair an old pen (more like an old friend had been using t for 20 years!) Sadly it was time to buy a new one. Bought a Captains Commission and after a couple of weeks now I love it!

Bought the parson's three. I requested to have different colors other than the standard set colors and I got it in the colors I want! Delivery was fast too! This is my second order and its just a matter of time before my third.

I got two Italix pens: a Parson's Essential and a Captain's Commission. Both arrived within a week, which is amazing for an international shipment. They look great, and they write fantastically. Mr. Ford does an exceptionally good job in grinding the nibs.
