Next day after many phone call to supervisor , told him what happen, he finally dont want me call him, only text massage only. I am paid and have not receive invoice yet, sounds like not professional company. Once again do not use them
HEED MY WARNING
HEED MY WARNING! DO NOT CALL! DO NOT HIRE! Scammed on a spring replacement. Paid $2300 for a $500-$600 job. They charged me $1400 for springs that cost less than $100. Then found out the technician did not even tighten one of the springs so it was essentially just an ornament and not performing any function at all. Please, please, please do not hire or you will be scammed!
TOTAL F-ING SCAM!!!! STAY AWAY!!!
Don't know where the Hell they are getting a 5 star reviews. Needed a spring replaced. I was told it would cost $700 to $850. I repeated it back to the tech and he verified the price. After service was rendered the total came out to be $2,000!!! Told me that the original quoted price was just for the springs. WTF!!! Should have just watched a youtube video and done it myself. Ambulance ride would have been cheaper!!!
Do not use this company in Washington…
Do not use this company in Washington state I was quoted $375 for labor $285 for the spring and $85 for two roller drums for a total of $830 paid with a credit card was charged for 3.5% processing fee of $29.50. Total was $859.50. After leaving my husband and I noticed that our other two garage doors have the same markings as the two roller drums that he suggested that we needed to replace. So there was nothing wrong with our roller drums. Also, I checked the ring camera and this guy was here for 33 minutes. How do you charge $375 for 33 minutes you’re not a lawyer! We were scammed and taken advantage of please find other options
I got taken advantage of
I got taken advantage of. Google reviews are fake. $900 to install a $200 opener and only installed the head unit. Used everything else from the old unit. Really a bad move.
Beware of this company, parts scam
Beware of this company! Big parts cost scam, they charge $875 for a $100 dollar garage door spring. $250 for a $25 dollar roller, I paid $2700 for a spring replacement, after talking to 2 other local companies should have been a $500 repair. Tech insists that his springs are rated for 75k cycles but was not willing to send me the part # so I could look up the specs. Do not use this company!!
BUYER BEWARE OF PRICE GAUGING
I was hoping that the bad reviews were a one-off but I have to share my experience. The reason that I gave 2 and not 1 star is that the response to my request was very quick and they were able to have a technician arrive within couple hours. The work they did seems to be good and it was done quickly. The BIG NEGATIVE was on the pricing. Lightning Garage subcontracted this work to Bulls Garage. The technician called as they said they would to let me know when they would be arriving. I needed to get the springs replaced on my garage door as quickly as possible so I decided to give the first responder the job. The quote they gave me was high. $275 for labor and $175 each for springs that costs $47 for two at Home Depot (which I discovered later). So the total cost was $625. I needed to get the door fixed so I ok'd the replacement. As mentioned, the work was done quickly and as far as I can tell, it was done properly. Later on in the day, one of the other companies that I had reached out to finally came back to me with an estimate for $200 less. I found some old records and another company had done the same job for $340 ($285 less). Addiitonally they charged me a 5% service fee for paying by credit card. It's a 3.5% fee to them by their merchant account platform provider. All in all, I was taken advantage of because of my immediate need by almost $300. When I complained to the Lightning Garage dispatch about this, they said they would let the office know and someone would reach out to me. The person that reached out was the technician from Bulls Garage. He said he quoted me what the company's prices were. He was willing to show me another paid invoice that charged the same price. So I asked for him to ask that someone from the company call or text me to explain how they can justify a $300 mark up on a pair of extension springs. I have yet to hear from anyone either from Lightning Garage or from Bulls Garage. Their other pricing may be ok, I was even ok with the labor charge (even though that is on the high side too for the simple job this was) but the parts price that they charged me for the two springs were way too much. Do as I say and not as I do. Even when rushed get couple quotes to compare and have an idea of what the parts cost are. For what I paid (almost $700 after the service fee and taxes), I could have bought a brand new garage door opener and contracted with HD or Lowes to have it installed, not just replace 2 springs.
Tech came and said I needed new rollers…
Tech came and said I needed new rollers wanted 350.00 I said never mind he the said 250.00 I said too much he then wanted 200.00 cash so he did the work and I was told he would send receipt to my email and text it I got neither called twice and haven't heard nothing don't use this company total rip off
Lightning Garage Door in Shelbyville
Lightning Garage Door in Shelbyville, TN is great! They made an appointment same day. Technician called to say they would be a few minutes late, talked to my husband and fixed the problem over the phone. He was knowledgeable, courteous and kind. The world needs more like him! Do not use Lightening Garage in Pelham Alabama for anything
I called them yesterday (May 5 2026) at 5 :15 PM. Told the lady on the phone it was the belt and I needed it replaced. She said, yes we can do that and scheduled with me for a tech to come between 8AM and Noon the next day. I'm retired and usually dont get up at 7AM, but I got up to be ready for my tech. At 9:40 AM he called me and said he wouldn't be able to be at my house until noon to 2pm. I was nice and said I would make that work. I went to Physical Therapy early so I would be home by noon. The tech calls me. again at 2:15 saying he would absolutely be at my house no later than 3:30. At 4:11pm I asked if he was still coming via text. He texted yes and claimed again traffic and weather was a poblem. I'm watching tv, storm tracker is in the I65 headed south through Pelham I see 3 cars on the road and no rain. He finally showed up at up 5:15. I had the ladder still setup from the night before and showed him the place where the teeth were stripped off the belt and told him I need the belt to be replaced. Said he wasn't usually allowed to do that, he wanted to replace my lift motor and all the pull track. Said he had to call his boss and see if he was allowed to do the repair he had the parts on the truck. I was so infuriated I told him to fix the belt as I requsted when i called in, I was not buying a unit from him. He needed to call his boss replace the belt or leave. I told.him I would.be in the house so he could.knock and let me know. 10 minutes later I went back to the driveway and he was gone. I spent the entire eday waiting for this guy to show then he wants to pull this trash? BAIT AND SWITCH I called the office , got the same lady and explained what happened, she aplogized profusely and said she would have someone from management call me within the hour. It is niw 2.5 hours later. They obviously could care less that their rep strung me along all day, I got up early rearranged my schedule. And waited all day for this alleged tech show up 9 hours late and try to force me to buy his opener. He actually asked if i wantwd.to replace the belt myself!?!? WTF i just had shoulder replacemwnt surgery less than a month ago I can't do it myself!
DO NOT USE LIGHTENING GARAGE DOOR FOR ANYTHING!!
Service was poor
Service was poor. Utilized wrong brand remote that intermittently opened one garage door only. Attempted to upsell for brand new garage, when keypad reset was only needed.
Got completely ripped off
Got completely ripped off. Fake google reviews. Charged me $550 for a quick repair
I just got screwed
I just got screwed. Their add shows a bunch of phony Google reviews with 5 stars.
Asked to have chain tightened. He tried to sell me all new parts for $750.00. Then charged me $150.00 to tighten chain. And the the arm that pulled the door broke loose. He would not com back without new payment. Scammers. E-mail is phony stay away
Absolutely awful experience
Absolutely awful experience. Our spring needed to be replaced. They have on their site 15% off for spring replacement. I was never offered the discount. Their repair man did not have a bracket to properly fix our door and proceeded to drill through the door, leaving bolts sticking out of it, cutting the bolts unevenly. They want payment ahead of repair and do not do what is right to fix the issues they caused. Stay away.
I would give them a zero star if that…
I would give them a zero star if that was an option. This company is straight up a scam! After dealing with them I do not believe they are a legitimate company. I got their number through a google search. I called them and they immediately sent a technician out to my home. The technician first quoted us a price of 600 to 700 to fix our garage door. Our door would not open automatically, we were having to open it manually. This is what we wanted to be fixed. He wasn’t supposed to do anything without telling us how much it would cost first. Because we had limited funds to pay him with, so we wanted to be sure we had the money to pay before he did the work. He did the exact opposite. According to him he put new springs on the door, which it didn’t need because we had just replaced the springs, and he also said he put new cables on the door. He then told us that instead of us owning him 6 to 700.00, we now owed him 1,400.00 and our garage door still didn’t work. We were then told in order for him to actually fix the door so it would open automatically again, that would cost 3000. We did not have this much money. I tried to call his manager to resolve the situation. The technician became very irate, and confrontational when we told him we were not paying the 1400 because he never told about the price increase before he did the work he claimed to have done. I was never able to speak to a manager and the technician finally decided to accept 1000 as payment because that’s all we had. So we were out 1000 and our garage door still didn’t work. The next day we called a local company who came out and had our door fixed within 30 minutes and charged us 125.00. Lightning Garage Doors was at our house maybe 45 minutes, took us for 1000, left our door still not working. This company is clearly a scam!!! I’m going to file a complaint with the BBB!
Suspected ripoff!
I called them for a free estimate. They came and charged me $48 for a "service call." Their estimate to replace a 0.5 HP motor was $799 with 25% (senior discount). I asked about new rollers to quiet door some. He said $79 per roller (i.e. $800 per door just for the rollers). I got another estimate (actually free) for $500 for the motor and said new rollers were about $12 per roller. I then did my homework on Lightening Garage Door and saw that many have been ripped off!! Do your homework!
Bad company to do business with
Very deceptive charged $3200 to replace garage door springs, pulleys and garage door opener. Would not give an estimate. Lesson learned, never use this company
If I could give 0 stars I would
If I could give 0 stars I would. Complete rip off. Charged me $1824 after he replaced my springs and pulleys. He burned up my motor by running the door up and down for 2 hours. Then tried to sell me a new motor. I told him to leave. I’ve filed a dispute with my bank credit card.
I had 2 garage door openers installed…
I had 2 garage door openers installed in January. One of the operating buttons did not work. I have called numerous times and they never return my call. Now one the brackets broke. Left another message was told "will be escalated to upper management". I still have not heard back. I'll be taking them to small claims court.
Predatory practices
Predatory practices: We were charged over $2,500 for what should have been well under $1,000. Avoid at all costs.
