We hired InsideAsia Tours to create a customized tour of Japan (3 weeks) and Korea (10 days) and would hire them to do it again. Tim worked with us to suss out our likes, dislikes, preferences, and budget to develop an itinerary that met our goals in every way. We wanted big cities, small towns and villages, national parks, food tours, theatrical performances, cooking classes, culture, history, hiking, and architecture, including some unstructured, free time! We also wanted a full range of accommodations, from the very high end major chains to small, local places, including some traditional Japanese inns (ryokans). It was our first extended trip to both countries and we wanted a little tase of everything. We got it all!

We began each new city with a full-day local tour guide just for us, so we could get acclimated and to aid our understanding of what would would see or might do during the rest of our stay. The local guides were wonderful and made sure that we got the most out of our day, varying the pace and activities according to our energy level and interests. Amazingly, and unlike anywhere else we have been in the world, there was never any reconfirmation of time, place, etc., by the guides or company. That was totally unnecessary, as the guides were always reliable (and always early). At first, we missed the typical reminder texts that we get in other places, but soon realized there was no need. The guides were experienced, knowledgable, and top notch (and no tipping) - a great way to start any destination.

InsideAsia Tours also arranged our travel throughout each country, which is no mean feat! They included drivers, buses, trains, and metro/subway. The Japanese websites we looked at (early on) for all of those things were not easy to use and the English was not always great (or available), so letting them arrange all of those tickets was the right way to go. To get to some off-the-beaten-track places, we have to take a couple of trains and buses back-to-back in the same day, but everything went without a hitch.

The agency supplied us with pdf guides to every destination which included background on the place, its history, select cultural or other local items of note, plus lists of bars, restaurants, and places to visit (castles, parks, temples, markets, etc.). Reading this voluminous information prior to going was not only enjoyable anticipation, but helped us discuss what we wanted to see with our local guides on Day 1 there, as well as to select things to do with our scheduled 'free time'. There was also a lengthy 'intro to Japan' pdf that answered most questions a traveler might have and explained a lot of info you will need once there. Two examples: the indispensable little portable wifi router we carried with us everywhere and the phenomenal and inexpensive) Japanese luggage forwarding system that we relied on between cities (the train stations have LOTS of stairs - use that luggage forwarding, as the locals do).

We also got a day-by-day itinerary that clearly told us what to expect. Its included things such: as very detailed transportation instructions, an intro to today's local guide (with a photo), and any special activities they had booked for us (theatre tickets, cooking class, and so on).

When we arrived at our first city in each country, InsideAsia had left the wifi router and a complete package containing all transportation tickets (bus and trains) with the hotel desk. During our trip, every arrangement they made simply worked as planned (drivers, guides, buses, trains, classes, plays, activities, etc.). Thanks to their good planning, we made the most of every day and every destination. The experiences that we had were unforgettable and the stress of being in a new country where we did not speak the language quickly evaporated, thanks to the tremendous information supplied, the high level of organization and planning, and the reliable and lovely members of the in-country team. Of course, all of this comes at some cost, but we knew the cost up front, had developed it to meet our needs and budget, and recognized as the trip progressed that we got every bit of what we had paid for. It was very nice to have paid the agency for most all costs in advance of leaving home (other than some meals and souvenirs). That way, the in-country costs were minimal, and we did not have to think about costs.

We would not hesitate to do the same trip again or to engage InsideAsia to create another trip for us one day. It was a flawless experience from conception through to the end!

He was very familiar with South Korea travel already, and this helped us curate our itinerary. Also, their local partner was very helpful when I needed some help. Extremely pleased with our custom holiday. From hotel to train tickets to WiFi and detailed logistics in print and portal, G.E. made our trip so easy to navigate, so we could enjoy ourselves. Our second self-guided trip (mostly on Kyushu) with Inside Japan which was even better than the first! Rachel was an excellent travel consultant who put together a great itinerary for us. She was very inspiring and full of ideas and really dug down into what we would like. We stayed in some beautifully chosen minshuku/ryokan/hotels. She was very happy to iterate around properties and room categories for us and really got it right. Transfers, portable wi-fi (essential!), train and ferry tickets all sorted making travelling around pretty effortless. The recommended luggage-forwarding was superb. Japan staff were extremely helpful a couple of times during our trip. If going self-guided, it is worth asking for a consultant who has visited you chosen areas - we had a little issue before being allocated Rachel.

We enjoyed a well organised tour, visiting nice places and staying in lovely hotels. All the arrangements went perfectly even though we travelled around quite a bit and had a couple of internal flights as well. Care on the ground in country was excellent with very helpful and knowledgeable guides.

An amazing, memorable, adventurous and fun trip. Inside Asia did a brilliant job with organising the tours, hotels , private transport and planning the entire trip.
The hotels were a really good standard and excellent locations. The driver was so friendly and knowledgable. The tours they organised were some of the best I have done for many years. Inside Asia made our first trip to Asia an experience far beyond our expectations. From our first contact our consultant listened to our ideas and needs and was ready with suggestions for our consideration. The info pack we received was complete and reassuring. Accommodation was wonderful and always situated with easy access to points of interest. We learned much about Vietnam from our guides and have so many amazing memories of our trip.

We had a wonderful trip to Cambodia in February. Oona understood our brief perfectly and brought together a perfect mixture of the culture, people and nature of Cambodia. All our guides and drivers were amazing - very well informed, flexible to any changes we wanted made and caring. Highlights for us were cycling around the temples of Angkor Wat, the homestay visit in the north west, meeting locals in Battenbang who had set up their own small business' and a wonderful stay in a tented camp in the Cardamon Mountains. Highlight of our family trip to Vietnam were an amazing sunset cruise to a quiet spot in Halong Bay and our brilliant guides who introduced us to the country and culture so well . Rhys listened to what we wanted, planned and tweaked an amazing tour of Vietnam from North to South and then Cambodian temples near the end. He chose perfect hotels with pools and nice staff and there were no hitches at all with transfers or any of the plans . We definitely would have only seen half as much of the country if we had tried to plan it ourselves ( as we have in the past) . A huge variety of activities: cooking , meeting local craftspeople , circus, zip wire all made it a perfect experience for the whole family! I really would recommend booking through these guys!

We have just had an amazing trip to Vietnam and Cambodia with Inside Asia. Stayed in some beautiful hotels, visited some amazing places. Everything went very smoothly snd our guides were excellent.

We had a brilliant 2 week family adventure through Northern and Central Vietnam. The Inside Asia advice (Liam), booking, flights, hotels, logistics, trips and guides were all excellent. Highlights were the Vespa Tour in Hue, Street Food tour in Hanoi and exploring the caves at Phong Nha National Park. We have previously travelled with Inside Japan and found Inside Asia just as good.

Everything on the tour went really well, except for one activity the local hotel got wrong. People were there to meet and greet and did efficient tour guiding. A mistake at booking got us a free upgrade to a fabulous hotel. Overall, very happy with the experience.

I loved the temple stay and the day with the tour guide as I learnt so much. The tour was perfectly tailored with everything I requested met. I had the time of my life with each day filled with a different experience.

Our trip was amazing - interesting and stress-free. The right mix of activities and chill time.

All we had to do was enjoy - Lien put together a great itinerary.

Bespoke trip ran like clockwork and staff, guides and drivers contributed to an excellent trip

We were impressed with the amount of information we received prior to the trip. A lovely booklet of everything we needed to know bespoke to our trip, as well as info about the towns we were going to visit. We were also very pleased that train tickets and WiFi dongle were left for us at our first hotel in each country. What a great idea. It meant we could travel independently but without hassle.
