Bought a £2000 garden furniture set that isn't waterproof or UV proof? MISSLEADING, MISS SOLD. THIEVES.
Bought a £2000 garden furniture set. It lasted a week until the sun had bleached all the beautiful wood effect off the table and chairs. I've been told that the product shouldn't be allowed to get wet and should be in the sun? WHAT IS THE POINT IN HAVING A FURNITURE SET THEN?! , advised the seller that it's obviously not fit for purpose. Misleading false statements such as 3 years warranty! UV proof, anti rust framing. The tables rusted. The UV proof is non existent. And now I'm being ignored.
If I could give 0 stars I would
If I could give 0 stars I would, visited bath garden center today just needed to pop in quickly with 2 very small children, noticed there wasn't any trolley's with child seats, so made the best out of the situation and put them in a pull along trolley one in a car seat and one sat in front, pulling them along no problem, thought it was better to have them in this than my older child trying to touch everything.
Was approached by a member of staff saying quite rudely the children shouldn't be in the trolley, I said I'm aware they shouldn't be in there and I take full responsibility if anything was to happen and suggested there should be trolley's with seat in them to which this member of staff replied well it's not really a place for children, so on that note I left without even getting what I needed, will never visit again!!!
I am not impressed with the price!
Last Friday I went to Lechlade garden centre. I purchased an Edgeworthia chrysantha for £34.99. Imagine my horror when I went to B&Q yesterday and saw the same plant (slightly larger) was being sold for £19.00.
Bad Service in the Cheddar Restaurant was…
The service in the Cheddar Store Restaurant was painfully slow. Waited 20mins in a queue to order food and drinks . Given the drinks at point of paying, after waiting over 40! Yes 40 minutes still no food, and the drinks were now stone cold, had to chase food order, twice!!to be told the Chef was just starting it, really, a cold ploughmans and a cold ham fried egg and fries. Oh and when ploughman's finally arrived it was just plonked on the plate and had items missing. Unbelievable!! I live locally and dined here when it was first refurbished, service was bad back then but put it down to teething problems. No excuses this time. A third visit is highly unlikely unless it improves dramatically.
Nice garden centre but would not recommend the cafeteria
Nice garden centre but often have to wait at the till for staff but when the do they are always very pleasant. We purchased a lovely Christmas tree here and they've had a good selection of Christmas decorations etc.
The negatives: since the cafe refurb, very slow service, wait ages for food by which time your drinks are cold. Aside the cake and sandwiches the main menu food is not good value for money and suspect not a qualified cook/chef in the kitchen as quality is very poor portions are very small. Main till staff are pleasant. Tables not cleared very quickly and often its pretty cold in the area
Very disappointing
Very disappointing. Visited today to buy a Christmas tree, whilst a plentiful supply and variety of trees it was very difficult to find a member of staff to assist us in wrapping the tree and taking it to the collection area - we eventually found someone who was very helpful.
We then decided we’d stay for lunch as it was 1 pm. The restaurant had about 6 tables seated, we waited for a member of staff to serve coffee as she was busy taking photos of the Christmas set up, we then proceeded to the till to order our food (fish and chips) and was informed there was a 40 minute wait as the kitchen was swamped with pre orders - none of the empty tables were reserved or laid up so I’m not sure who the pre orders related to. When we asked for toasted sandwich we were told that would take 40 minutes too. Overall a very disappointing visit and it seems the centre was very poorly staffed - very odd as I’ve received numerous emails advertising their festive promotions.
Excellent good value plants from Hillier
I’ve just bought three cordylines by mail order from Hillier. They were very good value, were larger than I expected and arrived in good condition. Most of the bad reviews on here seem to be about garden centre cafes. Just remember the cafes are a sideline, the core business of Hillier is selling plants and in my experience their plants are excellent.
Poor
Poor. They've ruined the restaurant by removing the decorative display on the lefthand side, so now people are sitting at tables right next to the que, so no privacy.
How can they get it skills wrong?!
They have also removed much of the indoor planting, which provided screens, privacy, and also significantly reduced the noise, as now there is no acoustic dampening from the planting or soft furnishings.
Now it is an open, reverberating chamber.
And that is if you have the patience to wait for cold soup, with drink served 10 minutes into your meal.
Utter rubbish now. Hillers has ruined it.
Ruined it spectacularly.
Well done! You can pat yourself on your back, management!
What have they done to the garden…
What have they done to the garden centre at Hermitage!! It used to be a nice little garden centre, not pretentious, just an ordinary little centre with a reasonable cafe.
Now they have opened a huge ostentatious department store - not only a department store but a food supermarket too!! It is awful. Full of nik naks and pretentious bits of furniture that I'm sure very few people buy.
The new cafe is cold and uninviting. What I particularly dislike is the way they leave their cakes and food open for everyone to breathe on as they walk through the store. Would you want to eat something that a hundred people have breathed on!
Needless to say I won't be visiting this place very much. Thankfully they still have the old restaurant open which is preferable to the new one.
Have second thoughts Hilliers. I'm sure many people would prefer a little homely garden centre to this monstrosity.
A day to remember spoilt
I took my son and daughter in law to Hilliers Aldermaston for lunch their lunches were quite acceptable. I ordered Welsh Rarebit thinking that it would be fairly moist - first it wasn't W. R. it was cheese on a rockhard bun. It was impossible to cut with the knife provided, maybe a steak knife would have been better, I didn't complain at the time as I was with my family - it was £9 + if I remember correctly the friend egg was good so was the 12 tomato which was worth approx £1-50. Very disappointed.
No dogs in the café inside
I was disappointed to discover that my 2 well behaved mini schnauzer dogs were not allowed to be with us in any part of the café inside at Hilliers garden centre near Hailsham East Sussex. We we told to sit outside in the cold on the patio. I can understand that they were restricted to a certain area in side but to make customers sit out in the cold is draconian, especially as the rear part of the café has the same brick floor as the outside.
In the past we have shopped and had coffee and food there with our dogs with no problem at all.
We were even taken aside and told by an officious member of staff that next time we visit to take the dogs in the long way round avoiding the inside seating area. There won’t be a next time!
While we were there we noticed a lot of sparrows flying around inside, hmmm I wonder how often their droppings end up in food and drinks??
Hillier Lechlade Restaurant - very poor.
Hillier Garden Centre, Lechlade. We had been there a few times in the past and decided to drive over there today for lunch which we had enjoyed in the past. The garden centre itself was OK but the restaurant was very poor. We ordered two Macaroni Cheese lunches that were advertised on the board. The lady on the till recorded our order but she was slow and hesitant (maybe she was new??) so we paid and went to a table. Whilst waiting for our food, the people on the next table sent their jacket potatoes back because they were not hot and they were given a refund. Then a member of staff came over to us and said they did not have any macaroni cheese so would we like Shepherds Pie or Fish and chips instead. Why did the lady on the till not know this? We chose the fish and when it did come, it was OK. One of the 'waiters' had a filthy white jacket on and another was wearing clothing like the outdoor staff wear. It was just as though he had been brought in from outside to help out. The restaurant has potential but needs a strong manager to sort out the issues and the staff - a smile here or there would not go amiss either. They all seemed miserable. Very disappointing experience.
Cheddar Garden Centre restaurant
Went to Cheddar garden centre today for lunch! I had the lemon sole goujon baguette which came out cold and a cream chocolate eclair which the cream was off which I didn't realise till I had taken a few bites!
45 minutes wait for food
45 minutes wait for food. After half an hour was given wrong order. Once it was established who the food was for it was just given to the next table. I had actually touched it!
Bring back Rosebourne.
Worst Christmas display ever. Used to be outstanding.
If this had been my first visit I would not return.
Staff being moved around also. Lovely lady on deli now moved to tills.
Needs better management.
Yet again
Yet again - no food, can't even make a Plowmans Lunch today due to unforeseen circumstances, yet again, this Cafe is really pathetic , staff minus slow. Queued fir 25mins just to be told sorry no
Plowmans, only sandwiches or cake. Why oh why are we not told prior to wasting time queuing what they want to serve -( nothing normally )have a sign saying what they CAN serve. A complete rubbish organisation
Hilliers Ruislip
Worst garden centre I have visited , so small , no cafe , not really anything worth mentioning. What they did have was way overpriced and uninspiring. Will not recommend or return.
Fab experience at the Hemel store
Had a fab experience yesterday at the Hemel store. Jaqueline helped us to pick a bush for my garden and gave us some really handy tips on how to plant to ensure it can grow and flourish. Will be returning!
Bought a sun parasol for £599 was over…
Bought a sun parasol for £599 was over £800. Not on display collected from warehouse.
Got home googled product name only £329 for the exact same product from Robert Dyas total rip off!
Checked some chairs and lights all available from other stores and sale prices at least 30 per cent cheaper everywhere else.
Can’t believe they are the exact products you can buy in other stores and delivered cheaper.
Do not shop at these stores unless you want to pay more for the same products.

We went to Aldermaston for a mooch about and for breakfast, the food was delicious and the staff courteous and very polite couldn’t fault a thing.
