Untrustworthy, Worthless Company

This company is shady and no accountability for their terrible business… All the cons you find on the net are true. Please trust the negative reviews they’ve had. They take your money without providing any actual service.
Not a single text message was able to be performed. Frequent dropped calls, poor call quality, missed call notifications, and glitches within the mobile app.
Difficult cancellation. They weren’t going to send proof of my cancellation! I had the representative stay on the phone with me until I received an email to confirm my cancellation.
The customer service representative ignored me and was dismissive.

Terrible product

Terrible product. Deceitful and shady. Advertise a price when paid in full and then add bogus "Recovery Fees/Surcharges" to inflate the price and any "discount" they were advertising.
Plenty of options out there, I strongly encouraging shopping around and staying away. PS - Everything in "non-refundable, and all sales are final".

Straight up scam

Straight up scam, Don't fall for it. You need to register your brand in order to send text messages but they will not give you a warning every time you submit the brand registration and will let you register multiple times. I was charged $4, 8-times of 10DLC Brand Registration = $32, I called for a refund and they said they can't give you a refund, plain criminal operation. Stay away users.

SMS Registration process and the brand registration fee is set and charged by mobile carriers, Grasshopper does not keep any of this fee. Don't sign up for this service. You need to call to cancecl and even if you don't make a single call on the platform they will charge you. Very poor service for a B2B company.

Perfect Customer Care

I had a great experience with Joselin Yadira from Grasshopper’s Customer Care team. She was amazing—extremely knowledgeable, patient, and professional. She made everything clear and easy to understand when helping me with my Toll-Free registration.

After our conversation, she followed up with a thoughtful email that showed she truly cared about making sure everything was resolved. It felt like she genuinely wanted to help, not just close a case.

Excellent support like this makes a big difference. Grasshopper is lucky to have her!

Cancellation took 20 minutes

Cancellation took 20 minutes, 3 call transfers, and 5 levels of verification--scammy. They definitely rely on people not wanting to go through that and just hanging up and paying. The customer service reps were nice--the absurd process is definitely not their fault.

This software does exactly what I wanted: make and receive phone calls and text from my cell phone and PC. The customer service is great and responsive.

Just don't bother with this company, save your time and money

I'm so disappointed with Grasshopper. The lady who helped on the phone was decent, but the company is terrible. My phone number took more than 10 days to get ported, and that was only after I prompted them for an update. I sent them all the info they needed and then when I asked for an update, they didn't respond until after I called them.

Then after that I wasn't able to receive any phone calls or texts. Then the lady spent around an hour or two on the phone with me, patiently fixing the phone call issue. And I was able to finally make and receive calls.

And there is also the issue with the text messages, which they said is fixed where I can RECEIVE the messages, but I still can't send them until I register my number. This part of the process was not made clear when signing up with Grasshopper, and just note that all VOIP companies require this. You basically have to register your number and provide a clear opt-in and opt-out procedure which can take up to 30 days to approve. This is a very unclear process with Grasshopper, and they use AI to review the information before you submit, and the AI keeps changing or giving unclear feedback on what is missing.

It's extremely time-consuming and not at all simple like how they claim on the website. It's been about 3 weeks since I started the process to switch from my previous carrier to Grasshopper so I can keep the number (it's a business number and for my clients' convenience I didn't want to change it). And I still can't receive text messages even though they said that it has been turned on and when I log in to the Admin portal it says explicitly that I can receive text messages but that I can't send them until my registration has been reviewed.

Just don't bother with this company, save yourself the wasted time and aggravation and try something like Nextiva which has a rating of 4.8 here on TrustPilot. Grasshopper has 2.1. I'm very close to giving up on Grasshopper and moving on to something else.

This business should be force to close by human rights…

Don't use Grasshoper please if you just start a business. Even if they are unable to help you to met their conditions to use the phone number provided, They will keep your account opened and charge you the full price for usage... and on top, they will charge another full next year again for something not activated. When you call to get some help and refund, the only thing they repeat is thar it was part of the contract and can use their service for another year...and I should have clearly asked to close my account. And repear that I can use it for the next year now because it's paid... how can I use it lol 😆... I requested to talk with manager, company owner, complaint department to be answer as a silence over the phone. In those difficult years of financial hardship I did pay for air, their services cost them nothing to provide. I will have no money this month to feed my kids because I did not write the words "close my account" in the email while THEY are saying in same email that they cannot activate my number... I hope people that works for this company will understand that they are supporting a business men that has no hearth for customers but for them too! Call to cancel is not an ethical process when you cant use a service.
This business should be close.

Couldn't even complete registration…

Couldn't even complete registration because the site automatically opens a chat and takes me away from the page I was on. Forcing me to start from scratch just to keep having the same issue where a chat pops open and I can't leave it without leaving the site. Fùck these people they can't even make a website.

This company is a rip off

This company is a rip off. They scam you for money by posting misleading free trials and services. They claim to provide a free trial. Signed up for a free trial and they still charged my card. I spoke with customer service before the trial was over to ask why they charged my card and also to let them know I wasn't able to use the outgoing fax service only to find out they don't have outgoing faxing available, only incoming. They did not provide the service outgoing faxes. Why would I donate over $22 to them for something I can't use. Terrible Rip off company.

Avoid Grasshopper at All Costs – Terrible Customer Experience

Grasshopper has one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve encountered in years, especially when it comes to canceling your service.

What should be a simple click-to-cancel process turns into a deliberately painful maze of bureaucracy and frustration.

First, you can’t cancel your account directly from your dashboard. Instead, you’re forced to submit a ticket, call a phone number, wait on hold, and verify your account through an unnecessarily long security process. And when I say verify, I mean they’ll ask you what feels like a dozen questions, allegedly for "security purposes" - just to stall the process.

But the worst part? Once you finally cancel, they delete your account access immediately, leaving you with no ability to review billing history, past messages, or any account details. Then- insult to injury - they charge your card anyway, citing fine print in their terms and conditions about billing cycles. Even though I canceled the same day my billing cycle started, they refused to issue a refund.

When I called to dispute the charge, I had to go through the same absurd process again: get another case number, wait on the phone, verify details I no longer had access to -just to be told, robotically, that there would be no refund.

Bottom line: Grasshopper is built to trap you, not serve you. Their cancellation process is intentionally obstructive, their support is scripted and inflexible, and their billing practices feel predatory.

I would never recommend Grasshopper to anyone. There are better options out there that respect your time, money, and autonomy. Don’t get stuck like I did.

Adios, Grasshopper. And good riddance.

Horrendous when it comes to canceling

Horrendous when it comes to canceling. I no longer need the grasshopper number for my business. The company deliberately makes it difficult to cancel (no way to remove auto renewal or to cancel subscription without calling). They don't provide refunds so even if you won't use their service they will still keep your money. I highly recommend going with another company. I'm pretty sure this practice is against the Click-to-Cancel FTC law. UNETHICAL!

Turned our service over to a new SIP…

Turned our service over to a new SIP provider on the 27th of June. Gave the new provider a Letter of Agency to work on our behalf. We only had the one SIP number with Grasshopper. The "renewal Date" (which should never have been able to happen) for them was supposed to be the 14th of July, This morning I got a notification that Grasshopper was trying to charge for another year of service. After jumping through hoops, got on the phone and after they tried to "Sell to keep my service" they told me that the charge already had gone through and I had to pay for the whole year Over $450.00 for a service that I do not have with them any longer. Will never deal with this company again. And I will spend my days scouring every review website and report this to everyone that I find, so others do not fall prey to scheme. Even if I stop one or 2 people from signing up for their service, It will keep me happy. Just so you know, I NEVER post reviews, so this is how bad it has to be.

Cancellation Nightmare — Avoid if You Value Your Time

We had a Grasshopper number sitting unused for months — literally just kept it alive because it was tied to our email footer. Finally got around to canceling and ran into a wall of deliberate friction.

No way to cancel online. No simple chat. They force you into a 15-minute phone call with hold time and scripted stall tactics. Just to cancel a $20/month number we weren’t even using.

No refund, no grace period, no accountability. The whole experience felt like it was designed to squeeze another billing cycle out of frustrated users.

If you're a lean business trying to keep ops clean, Grasshopper is not worth the hassle. Way better alternatives with honest offboarding and not oozing short term greed. The other poor user reviews of this company are evidence this company cares little for the long term satisfaction of their customers or their own reputation and are only focused on short term profits, wish i had read these reviews before joining.
