Frustratingly wasted of 2hrs of my life
I couldn't get the QR code on my gov account to link to the app on my gov ID app on my phone.
Useless ID verification process
The ID verification process is terrible. If the app fails to verify you, you are stuffed. We contacted the gov helpdesk and were told the only option was to use an ACSP. We contacted a number of these who said they only provide this service for their clients. This effectively leaves us out of options.
ETA application
Used the website to apply for an ETA to enter the UK.
Through the app it was fairly easy to apply.
Not sure what they will do with all the information.
An ETA costs £16, which I find a bit steep for a weekend in the UK.
We were all approved within minutes.

Trying to verify my identity on Gov Uk One was challenging.
It gave up on me the first time around, because it said I was using a different browser - but it had told me to go to my phone, which I had obediently done.
Eventually, I decided to re-start the process, and made it work. But I can see why people end up frustrated.
On Google Play, the app is full of 1-star reviews.
The coding needs to be fixed.
And I note the government has failed to claim the Trustpilot UK Gov site, so it can't respond to reviews...
I'm not looking forward to having to repeat this for other government services.

Contacting them by phone results in "we can't tell you why" and e mail results in "we have referred the issue and no further contact will be made"

Absolutely diabolical system to book driving tests
Absolutely diabolical trying to book a driving test for daughter. Webpage has blocked me for trying too many times! If service was available this wouldn't be a problem!! Absolutely rich that they are blocking legitimate people trying to book tests, stuck in ridiculous system, meanwhile fraudsters have taken all of the tests and sell slots for hundreds of pounds!!!! How is this corruption legal in the UK in 2026??

Absolutely useless. Pretty much sums up what I would expect from uk Govt. As the saying goes, he who expects f all is seldom disappointed. Spent ages going through the whole process to change Driving license address - get to last page and it freezes, and tells me to contact DVLA.

Terrible service, really unclear instructions. Didn't recognise my id. I went to post office in silver street Edmonton the surly post office lady didn't tell me what my number was (she barely spoke English). Then it didn't update automatically on my account and I'm still chasing around for the verification number. Emailed companies house. They gave me incorrect information. Absolute joke

This is the most ridiculous piece of s*** Ive ever come across. 3 years ago when I renewed my DL it was easy - now it is totally IMPOSSIBLE> I enter my NHI number, I enter my DL number I enter my email address and then a security code, I enter my phone no and another security code, then I have to match my photo using their app on my phone, which NEVER works. Give up. resort to paper, then what so you need to identify yourself? FA. cannot believe they can put this garbage out there.
Not fit for purpose.
I will join the rest of the reviews saying I would give 0 stars if possible. Have spent hours trying to prove my identity to get access to services. They could not identify me via any of my banking details despite all details being correct. Advised to download their app and was then told that they could not accept my passport as photo ID, even though that was one of the options, and to use a driving licence which I don't have. Final advice was to go to Post office for manual ID except I am housebound/disabled. Customer support said it may be due to a recent change of address and to update it VIA THEIR APP. The one I cant get access to. This site is not fit for purpose
Dreadful service
Poor support options - no agent seems to be able or willing to help. Have been unable to access my hmrc account for over 6 months now and gateway access codes dont work, neither do the apps and you cannot validate identity due to hmrc discrimination against people from Northern Ireland. Perfect example of why digital ID wouldn’t work and would be dangerous for the people of the UK

Absolutely awful.What a waste of money. Went on to renew licence, what should be a simple 5 min process ended taking me on a road to nowhere. Still could not complete. Use the cash to fix the potholes instead!
Gov.UK Log In
The Gov.UK login and identity verification system is extremely poor. When the process fails, no explanation is given and there is no guidance on how to fix the issue. Countless emails to Gov.UK One Login is a waste of time as the only response is numerous questions. Despite this, Companies House issues overdue notices and warns of offences, even though the failure is caused by the government system itself. Penalising users for a platform that does not work properly is unreasonable. This service urgently needs clearer error messages, proper support, and a fairer approach!
Pretty cool service
Many people who don't live in the UK are amazed by the gov.uk website: all government services in one place. It's far more complicated in countries like Spain for example. I always have to reset my password to use it for some reason, but this is pretty straightforward. Just ordered my new driving licence and it took a few minutes, I like the fact that you can just use your passport to confirm identity, and connect your photo, so you don't have to upload another one.
Warm Home Discount
Been trying to ring the Warm Home Discount line to claim the £150 they say I'm entitled to. Just need to ring the number they give you on the letter they sent you in the post. Easier said than done: every day I have been ringing, the robot voice says they "can't take my call at the moment, ring later." I rang between 4pm and 6pm as they said it's the less busy time: still they don't take the call. It's a scam, it's just a tick box exercise, pretending they want to help you in these difficult times.....Why do you have to ring?? Jokers.

Would give zero stars if I could. Tried to renew driving licence through Beta version of .gov twice. Totally useless!!! It cannot verify my identity despite using existing driving licence and then passport. Seems to go okay until I provide my address (lived here 29 years). Tried the webchat for help - worse then useless. What a scam - site is full of bugs

GOV.UK One Login has not be working for 3 full days
The error is always the same "Sorry, there is a problem, Try again later"
Update: this lasted for many many many days: the issue was related to my iphone which gov.uk app did not like somehow: I lost so much time: the support did not help.
So, dear GOV.UK developers, you perfectly know from your logs what is happening: give proper feed to users when your app do not work!
