Update: successful enforcement of CCJ against "JAMES DOUGLAS TRADING AS GOSFORTH PARK AUTO CO"

Background: HCEO successfully obtained owed sums from Mr James Douglas, the owner of 'Gosforthparkautoco' at his trading address in Indigo Park, Sandy Lane, NE3 5HE.

Note: even if Mr James Douglas ignores letters of court action, when a CCJ is obtained he remains liable and enforcement action can be taken against him and his assets regardless of where he is in the country and how often he changes his trading name (at present, he is trading as "Ist Choice Car Co").

If a car's mileage is 'clocked' a claim against Mr James Douglas can be made under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

TERRIBLE COMPANY

Bought my first car from here in 2022 and was totally scammed. The car had been illegally clocked which was not disclosed to me at time of the sale. A year later when trying to get rid of the car nobody would touch it as it had been clocked!! Went back to the company who offered me half my money back. I was desperate and uneducated about it at the time so accepted. I’m now aware that I should have been issued a full refund. Trying to action now is almost impossible as the original business is almost untraceable. As predicted the new company have ignored my emails to warn against action.

Any advice would me much appreciated!

Purchased a car that turned out to be faulty - so took court action against these fraudsters, which was successful, now enforcing the judgment. Does anyone happen to have their bank account details? Happy to share other information here if anyone needs them.

Just a heads up that if you are contemplating court action you should sue the sole trader of the company, James Douglas trading as Gosforth Park Auto Co.

Interestingly, James Douglas has renamed his company to Ist Choice Car Co, so you may want to include that title in your court action.

Disgusting service, wish I had never made a purchase. The sales person was full of talk about how many other people were after the same car, on the same day after it had been up for sale for 5 months 🙄 paid for a new steering wheel to be fitted and arranged pick up for the Saturday, they phoned to say the steering wheel hadn’t been fitted yet and the car hadn’t had a valet. Stupidly agreed to pick it up the following day and gave them collect the car a week on the Tuesday or Wednesday to have the steering wheel fitted and the valet done. No communication from them, phoned on the Wednesday only for them to say that they couldn’t do it because it was raining! And they would collect on Thursday, phoned Thursday afternoon to be told the person who would fit the steering wheel hadn’t come to work that day and they would collect it the next day. Asked for money back on steering wheel and money for a valet, was patronised and called ‘love’ on a number of occasions. Said they will refund the steering wheel but not the valet. Will be taking them to the small claims court. Only good thing is we will be purchasing two more cars this year - definitely not from these cowboys.

AVOID AVOID These people are awful and seriously dishonest!! I was looking to Buy an Audi from them but I was too far away so I got the AA too go and check it. The report came back with a lot of problems and body work issues even though it had been advertised as basically perfect,during the time it took they still carried on advertising it online. Anyway they tried to make me believe that the AA report was wrong and still tried to sell it to me. Now at the time I had put a £500 deposit on it to hold it while this was going on I had never been told it was non refundable so obviously I wanted it back and they refused and became very rude towards me,I've now sent two official letters stating I will take action and they have ignored them no reply I know they got them because they were signed for!! I will be taking them to the small claims court! Please do not bother with these people they are con artists you will regret it if you do just like I Have.

Do NOT buy from here - absolute shambles and con artist

My terminally ill dad bought a car from these scum bags trading in his fully working car, 3 months and 2 days, and less than 150 miles later the cars engine warning lights came on and the car couldn't change gear, car sent to a garage and told the transmission was completely ruined, there was a an O-ring missing and a new part badly fitted (in which there was no record of in the log book) spoke to these fraudsters who in turn told my dying Father that he should take ownership of the car now.
The quote for fixing the car was 25% more than what my dad paid for the car.
The car is now being scrapped, my dad is without a car and has lost his independence not to mention the £7000 he is out of pocket.
I hope karma deals with them hard.
Wouldn't buy from these b*as*ards if they gave me soemthing for free.

This so called company has a plethora of Motorhomes and Cars listed on Ebay which are all cloned from other users etc
I have reported them to Ebay so lets hope they make this circus leave and take the clown with them

This is a SCAMMER. They don't own any of these cars and they steal listings from private sellers on autotrader and facebook. They do not have these cars.

Avoid at all costs, doesn’t even deserve one star, the owner is the biggest con man going, cars not put through mot properly, older car with absolutely no advisories, then endless things went wrong with the car, went back on so many occasions, not helpful at all, don’t know how he sleeps at night, at least dick Turpin wore a mask, he should be done for fraud and closed down by trading standards. Please don’t get reeled in with his act, he should actually be on stage. No car there is road worthy, total death traps waiting to happen 🤬🤬🤬

Bought a car from this garage and from basically day one I’ve had nothing but trouble with the car. Faulty clutch, whining turbo, dodgy electrics when certain features are used and windscreen washer pump not working properly.
The owner of the garage just doesn’t want to know, says he will look at car but expects you to drop everything to fit his own convenience and doesn’t know how long he needs the car for to ‘look’ at! All he shouts is ‘car is perfect I drove it’ and it’s ‘passed MOT’.

Owner also wont listen and talks over the top of you when trying to explain the issues. I’ve asked for a full refund on the car under the consumer rights act 2015 but his response is ‘take me to court’, you aren’t getting a penny back from me’. This is for a car I’ve had for 14days! He also likes to put the phone down on his customers!

No courtesy car offered to help customer out and oh not allowed to test drive the car upon purchase only on tiny road leading to garage. I should have known!!

Bought a car from Gosforth Park Auto Co. After 2 and half months, the Logbook was still not received. DVLA confirmed they never received anything from the seller. No backlog on their part as they were processing applications from the end of July NOT as far back as 1st June. We ended up cancelling our planned road trip to Europe due to not having the log book.

Before buying the car, I called the seller about the car and asked about the smoker status of the owner. He was adamant on the phone that it was used by a non-smoker. He also confirmed the same (without being prompted) on our visit to inspect the car! After we bought the car, it turned out (several days later) that it had just been Odor Bombed to mask the smell.
If they didn't know the previous owner smoker-status, they should NOT have confirmed TWICE that it was owned by a non-smoker; the Car Dealership clearly verbally misled us.
The car was not properly cleaned either despite the promises made. Some aspect of the car he promised to fix before we collect the car was never fixed when we went to collect the car. By this time, we had paid a deposit and it was too late to back out.
