Reasonable call out fee but won’t declare a labour cost per hour. When the plumber arrived the repair costs for a simple job were eye watering. Do not use unless you have to!

Complete scam. Charged £500 for adding an extra join to my cold water for a dishwasher and cutting a hole in a cupboard. I asked for an invoice but they wouldn't leave until I'd paid and then only sent the invoice justifying the price afterwards (which is written down as something it isn't). Avoid avoid avoid

Avoid "George the Plumber" at all costs. If you are reading this thinking about booking them, stop right now and look at the rest of their Trustpilot reviews. They have a pattern of doing this to people, and I wish I had checked here first.

I called them out to clear a blocked kitchen pipe, and it was a masterclass in terrible service. The plumber arrived completely late, spent an hour messing around achieving absolutely nothing, and left with my kitchen pipe still completely blocked. Despite fixing zero problems, I was hit with a massive bill: a £48 call-out fee plus an outrageous £180 for "labour" + VAT. To make it even shadier, he pressured and forced me to pay the total £228 balance strictly in cash.

Before management replies with their usual line:
I know you love to respond to negative reviews claiming, "We have no record of this person being a customer." Let's clear that up right now. You use a massive web of subcontractors so you can legally distance yourselves from your own terrible service. I called the official phone number directly from the George the Plumber website. You sent the plumber, you took the £228 cash, and you own this disaster.

2 young men came and changed a ballcock in my tank in the loft.I had no water at all as it was switched off owing to it overflowing so felt obliged to pay the asking price of £450 for an hrs work done by one of them while the other one sat on the stairs. I do not recommend these people as their prices are extortionate

Should have cowboy as company logo. Beware George the plum will damage your property overcharge laugh about it and when you complain I think they pass the phone around with each other claiming to be managers. They could not manage to turn off a tap

Outstanding customer service from start to finish. The office staff kept me updated about my appointment, and the plumber arrived right on schedule. They repaired a leaking shower, checked for any additional issues, and made sure everything was working properly before leaving. Professional, reliable, and reasonably priced.!

Found a local plumber on line James plumbing, to change a ball val in cold storage tank in attic, no web site or address, rang the number which was answered and told to press 4 to get through. Plumber turned up, inspected, said tank had a crack as well as needing new ball valve and then tapped info and photos to send to his “office” for quote. Received WhatsApp quote from unnamed company for £2700!!! Advised him this was a rip off and I’d find another plumber. He then said he’d help by just fitting a new ball valve and lower the water level below crack. When it came to pay, after 11/2hours, he had to contact his “office” again. I then received a payment request; Dear Client, you received a payment request from

These companies are a scam and total rip off, James Plumbing doesn’t probably exist, George Plumbing aren’t plumbers they’re an employment agency I suspect employing self employed plumbers all over the country. I assume they pay the plumber £80/hour and charge customers £200/hour. So be warned DO NOT USE ANY PLUMBER ON GOOGLE WHO doesn’t have a a web site and contact address
and direct telephone number. There are lots of James and George plumbers listed on Google for every part of the country, so it’s obviously a huge bogus sham set up. Checking George Plumbing and Maintence Ltd it’s only been
active since incorporation 19 June 2026 and owned by Mukhammadjon Sabridinov from Uzbekistan

I was really impressed by how honest and transparent this company was. They explained the problem with our boiler's plumbing connections in simple terms, gave a clear quote before starting work, and completed the repair efficiently. Everything has been working perfectly ever since. Great workmanship and friendly service.

Excellent experience all around. We needed several small plumbing jobs completed around the house, including fixing dripping taps and replacing some worn pipe fittings. The plumber completed every task to a very high standard, worked efficiently, and treated our home with respect. It's clear they care about providing quality service, and I wouldn't hesitate to call them again.

Very unprofessional, totally scammed by these so called plumbers, demand over the top payment but won't give you an invoice, unless pushed. They change their contact number as soon as you complain.

Terrible guy. He pushed my cat sitter to do a service an overpriced job. He charged £58 for the visit and nothing sorted. It was pretty simple to solve it

You win some, you lose some. This was a loss. Do not use this company, just don’t. Nearly £300 for a leaky pipe…it still leaks. I’ve had another plumber/kitchen fitter look at the work done and he said that was not the work of a plumber. “George” outsources the work to third parties who are not up to scratch. 5 star google reviews are a smoke screen, and on this website you get the full picture. Not good.

charged me £1700 for a quick bath leak, when you ring this number "george the plumber" it takes you to a different person each time, they sub contract the work out it seems, goes back to a "Taher Shar" who actually carries out "5 day plumber courses" who pray on vulnerable people.

Communication good- plumber arrived on time. £48 call out (which is understandable). Quoted £800 for a shower light. We said was too expensive- so he charged an extra £20 for cancelling the job. This was for my elderly parents who just accepted this additional cost. When I tried to call to complain- the call was constantly‘cut off’. Appalling that companies such as this are allowed to operate. I just hope that future customers check this site before using this company.

Avoid avoid...I cancelled my appointment as I sensed something was not right, now they won't stop calling me from different numbers claiming the appointment is still on!!

Advertised as a google 5 star review local business!! Communication was ok and a plumber turned up on time. Then told me it would be £585 plus VAT to fix a leaking pipe in the shower. Really fully taking advantage of being in a stressful situation. Less than an hour's work. Awful experience. Worse still when I gave a low star honest review on google it was rejected so "George" your local friendly plumber will continue to rip people off unless people check Trust Pilot - and in emergency plumbing situations unfortunately few will - they look like a great company.

George quoted £687 + VAT to replace shower and leak under the bath together with replacing pipework. He was to check if there was anything else. If he found anything he was to get back to me to discuss any increase in price. His English was very poor and I believe we didn’t understand each other.

Invoice came and it was as quoted but no pipework was carried out. I believe I have been scammed. Do not use this company or a plumber called George!

Extremely poor service. Gentleman came to my house within an hour and said he could fix a shower leak for £710 (inclusive of call out fee- which in hindsight is far too expensive, especially when it only took him 1.5 hours and didn’t need parts) - but accepted it as I was in desperate need. I paid by card on his departure and asked for an invoice, which he agreed to send. The payment went to his personal name which I thought was weird, and didn’t get a proper invoice (just a payment receipt with his name only, with no reference to the company name). I’ve called over 10x since as well as sent an email, and have asked for a proper invoice of the work they did and inclusion of the company name and they keep promising to call back or send it, but they haven’t. Very dissatisfied. Not 100% sure it’s a legitimate company based on how poor correspondence has been, the number having changed 6+ times on google in the last 24 hours, and the fact they have 16 reviews on google but 73+ years experience. I thought I was helping a small company out but from what the worker told me, the company has over 200 employees… so not sure why it’s so hard to create a simple invoice.

Further update: 01/07/2026:
The company has agreed to refund me in full after I called another plumber and he said that, apart from a few tiles being removed and replaced, he couldn't see any evidence of work having been carried out by this company. I will update my review if they return my money.

After complaining and a lengthy WhatsApp exchange which included some veiled threats (??), this plumber agreed to refund £150. I have since found at least five other people who were charged exorbitant rates for an hour or so of work (i.e. £500/£600). After refunding £150 of a £730 + bill, the plumber told us to 'delete this review'. I will leave it here so other people can be aware of your quite frankly scam prices before hiring you. Be warned, it seems this person is paying for Google ads to be the top result so you phone them in an emergency. They promise fast service, but they're actually based nowhere near you (Swindon). So drive hours and then charge hundreds, demanding full payment on the spot. Dishonest, unprofessional, untrustworthy.

Original review 29/06/26: Charged £730+ for an hour and a half of work, demanding full payment from my partner on the spot. Messed us around all day, first saying they'd arrive at 3 pm, then 'by 5', finally showing up at 6.30 pm after multiple chase calls, all while I had a leaking pipe.
