Signed up for my insurance and paid the £500 for the first month, never received an email from them about it. Tried to sign into my account on the web to cancel my insurance and it wouldn’t let me sign in so tried to do forgot password, won’t send me an email for that either. I have no way of confirming anything about my insurance and no way of cancelling it either

Had a drunk and/or elderly (I think) jump a turn on a rainy November day and ruin my bumper on an 8k JDM Toyota crown, they got a 3rd party to assess and I got 10k back, it took a couple of months but they couldn't fix but I got more than the value of the car. I work from home so didn't care about the time. I would use Elephant again the advisors spoke perfect English, were sympathetic, the online console was good and turned a 8k down the hole catastrophy into a minor event. It took ages because the car had to be assessed.
If you got a generic common car things will move fast if you got a 15 YO Japanese car with rare parts and someone hits you; be expected to wait not cool if you are someone who needs your car for work, you need a courtesy car.
Go for Platinum and no excess, it cost about the same, I went for excess and when you toggle its nil or a few pound more a month.

At renewal they contacted me to say they had deleted my details and could I provide them with my bank details. I didn't want to renew as it was dearer than other quotes. I tried to log in to my account online but couldn't. I assume the account details were also deleted. I called their call centre after 15 minutes I gave up and carried on with my new insurance. They are charging me for two months insurance. Passed my case to debt collection. For insurance I didn't want or need. Last time for any Admiral or elephant insurance for me.

This is the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with, I have an ongoing claim where I had an accident and have been without my car since June and still to this day they are doing absolutely nothing to fix it. My car has been sitting at Audi for over a month and they have been waiting for the go ahead to do the fix and Elephant are doing absolutely nothing. I will never get insurance through them again.

I would give no stars if i could. I was with the company for close to 20 years. I admit my own laziness (lack of interest in anything to do with cars) meant i didn't bother looking for another. But suddenly the premium went up this year, by nearly £200, with absolutely no explanation. They do an annoying auto renewal thing and bury the info in an email - so you suddenly find out and it's too late to do a free cancellation. Well i got a much better deal with Hastings Direct - so i have taken the cancellation fee hit - and just strongly advise any of you looking not to go with these guys.

New Scam ALERT- we bought insurance for our 17 yr old for a car we bought after he passed his test, about a month later these scammer from Elephant want a V5 document as they assumed we had the car from before and just whacked another £310 as we bought the car for our child and did not have it before. Just made up on the spot by the looks of it as you cant do it online and have to speak to them.

Id give less than a star. Be warned almost impossible to cancel auto renew and they will charge cancellation after you asked not to renew. No number to call only AI chat which pushes you around for hours don't reply to emails. Even in the account you can't use the call icon as it doesn't give number out.

Following an incident where a third party drove into me whilst I was parking up Elephant insurance did absolutely nothing to fight my corner despite me giving dash cam evidence against the third party’s word I have now lost eleven years no claims discount, it makes me wonder what do they do with the money I pay them every year. I am going to be changing my insurers now and wouldn’t recommend these cowboys to anyone.

This company is an absolute joke - reported an incident where someone hit my car in October 2024, they have done nothing to contact witnesses, taken the word of the guilty party with no investigation and closed the claim. Bunch of robbing cowboys - so not insure with this company. A score of 1 is even too high for this ridiculous excuse for a company.

I am not a policy holder, but was hit by a third party who was one of their policy holders. I had some frustrations with the garages my insurance company advised me to use for my repair. I had a call from Kathy O'Toole this morning who could not have been more helpful. Kathy explained that she worked for Elephant and said they would be happy to deal with my claim direct. 2 hours later, thanks to Kathy everything was sorted and settled, without doubt a trure professional and expert service recieved. I would not hesitate to recommend this insurer, if Carlsberg made Insurance Companies, this would be one!
I came here to badly review elephant but after actually seeing their whole review history is a joke. This company must be shutdown. What an embarrassment for the whole Admiral Group, Yes Admiral and Elephant are both the same group and worthless to deal with. I had to cancel my policy due to their incompetent/ lack of services, their exorbitant prices charging me £1500/month, when I'm paying now £600 plus much more protection and benefits than ever before. If you ever be in an accident, good luck, you must get a lawyer. Total avoid them

My teenage son was hit by a car in February 2025. He was admitted to hospital with a head injury, bleeding, and amnesia. Elephant Insurance, who represent the driver, have refused to even respond to any correspondence from our solicitor for over five months.
No contact. No investigation. No liability decision. Nothing.
Even now, with a formal 14-day warning issued by our legal team and criminal charges brought against the driver, they remain silent.
In my opinion, this is a company that does not care about victims, follows no professional standards, and is actively obstructive. Avoid at all costs.

Avoid Elephant Insurance – Unethical Practices
I had an accident and didn’t even make a claim on my own vehicle, yet Elephant Insurance told me they were cancelling my policy. Strangely, the following year they tried to automatically renew my insurance without my knowledge. Their emails ended up in my spam folder, so I never saw any notice or communication.
Despite not agreeing to or using any new policy, they referred the matter to a debt collection agency, without so much as a phone call, which resulted in a negative default on my credit file. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour.
Stay well clear of these crooks — their shady practices have long-term consequences.

I cancelled my insurance policy as I sold my car. I contacted elephant on the website to cancel but called them to clarify when the last payment would be. I was told the last payment would be 1st June. The money came out of the account no issues before I cancelled the direct debit.
I have been away for a while caring for a family member thinking this was all resolved when I got a text message on 4th July from a debt collection agency saying I owed admin and cancellation fees. A massive total of £34.11 that elephant felt needed to go to a debt collection agency.
I spoke to elephant who denied the fact I called to clarify saying there was "no record of my call"
I asked why nobody called me to inform me I owed money and I was told that "elephant policy is that we don't call, we do all by email"
Very concerning and unprofessional practice if you are elderly or not IT savvy
I ensured that I checked everything was above board before I paid.
I will never use this company again.
I have no issues paying the money if it's owed. I am so angry that I checked and clarified and then my personal details were shared with a debt collection agency. Shameful.
Wish I read the rest of the reviews on here before I used them. Husband is now cancelling his policy with them. No trust in them at all
Also the company they use for debt collection was identified as spam so I would really recommend that if this happens to you call elephant and get verification as it seems the company they use do not have a good reputation at all either

After being with Elephant for YEARS, my insurance doubled (without any warning/notice).
Website and chat function now takes ages to get on to. If it loads at all. Awful compared to previous phone helpline.
Even when I cancelled, then was refunded (some of) the charge and assured I didn’t need to do anything else, one month later the money was taken again. When I went back and checked the the previous payment had been cancelled, yet I was refunded.
So I now have no account. Have since cancelled the DD at my end. And now owe them the refunded money back. What a shambolic system.
Avoid Elephant. Nothing like the service it used to provide, at literally double the price.

I’ve been with elephant for several years now. I had a lapse in insurance policies and lost my no claims but I’ve still always found their prices competitive so I returned to them last year.
I’ve had just had my 1st renewal and it’s approx £250 less that last year, I’ve also recently had some big expenditures and didn’t have the full amount for a one-time payment so they’ve given me a 14day extension which is very helpful too.
