The guys there are super friendly, great guides to what’s required, honest, professional, knowledgeable, always busy, and do their best to accommodate.

Ian explained the process, gave me an exact price for the work and I picked it up 24 hours later.
Problem was blocked DPF on BMW 525D, I just expected it to come back as it was before the blockage. The difference was incredible, it must have been partially blocked for years but due to their attention to detail and their additional adjustments, it is a different car. Thank you very much.

EXCEPTIONAL. Highly recommended. I cannot thank owner Ian enough for going beyond a customer's normal expectations and helping me in EVERY area needed when my old 2007 Fiat Panda Multijet car was recovered to their garage after my steering had suddenly seized when driving it, and my usual garage near where the failure occurred, suspected an intermittent electrical problem which needed an expert garage to investigate. Another garage highly recommended Durham Remaps.

Ian at Durham Remaps ran the computerised diagnostic, and thoroughly checked over the car, discussed the car's history in detail, spent time trying to get an electric motor part for the steering, both of us concerned with the ridiculously high price of the part and no guarantee that something else would not go wrong with this old car, and needing further expensive parts which Ian wanted to protect me from paying / wasting my money (I'd spent a considerable amount maintaining this car yearly, and it was a big shock with this further serious incident / repair needed).

Ian had already offered me a generous pensioner's discount for the labour cost if I'd decided to go ahead with the repair - expensive for the part NOT the labour - and there to be no charge for the computerised diagnostic and his time spent trying to help me and in trying to source the part etc.

We decided not to go ahead with the repair. There was no pressure put on me to do so. Ian went above and beyond to help me by having all my car's contents (alot as included even the floor mats, seat covers, heated seat covers, everything one carries in a vehicle for winter maintenance, high vis clothing, snow shovel, screenwash, de-icers, tyre pump, folding seat, walking stick, car CCTV, personal items carried, etc) bagged up and dropped off at my home by one of his friendly, polite, helpful team, at no charge, who offered to bring everything indoors for me (I have mobility issues and Ian was not aware of this when initially doing his job (so he wasn't being unfair to any other customer by helping me more than he'd help anyone else); keeping the unrepaired car at his garage, transferred to him via the log book, to save me the circa £200 cost of any recovery lorry returning my unrepaired car home, and the further pressure and stress of me trying to find a buyer for spares or repair or scrap, with a lorry to take it away, and all that it entails.

Ian contacted his business contacts and one of them, a recovery company, picked up / paid for the car, the amount put in my bank the same day.

Ian took away all of the pressure and stress from me by doing everything needed himself, professionally, very quickly, efficiently with care and consideration, whilst being reassuring, calm, and understanding with me and my emergency situation. Never once did he make me feel I was a bother. Ian was just happy to help, refusing any payment and not rushing me into any decisions.

Ian is a very kind, friendly, genuinely lovely gentleman. His expertise and his garage and his staff are highly thought of by others in the motor industry, as well as their customers. I can see why!

Anyone who has Ian in their life as family, a friend or work colleague is very lucky indeed! Thank you for looking after me!

Grade A++ service from the lads at Durham Remaps, had my VW Transporter in for some work and remap done last week. All done within the day as planned and with agreed price. They also identified an issue with my intake manifold when doing the work, new part ordered and booked in for start of this week to be completed, again nothing but fantastic service from DR. Even after all the work completed the customer aftercare is faultless and happy to help with any questions.

Anyone looking to get any work or remapping done I couldn’t recommend them enough, professional and first class service start to finish.

Avoid at all costs, if you want your bolts snapping and parts not put back on properly go to Durham remaps, they brake wires and bodge work, when you call about problems he knows exactly what to say like he's been round the block a few time with shocking work, 1600 down and won't answer the phone, cos another 800 with someone else to sort there terrible work .

Absolutely shocking, charged £1550 Shreded a manifold bolt and made us pay over £250 for a new one when it was there fault, left all the inlet manifold leaking and blowing, didn’t put pft bracket back on , finally picked the car up, running rough they couldn’t map it up because of there shoddy work, taken to our machanic he’s had to take everything back off the car clean everything and put it all back on the put his tune on it, the cars now how it should be, avoid Durham remaps at all costs absolute rip off £1550 for a car to come away not complete absolute cowboys

In September 2024 they remapped my 1.6hdi diesel Peugeot Partner Tepee. Having given it 4 months and 1500 miles, I am pleased to report that my car has substantially better low rev torque, much better acceleration, more power climbing hills, engine runs much quieter and an improvement in fuel economy of about 8mpg. Overall I am very happy to recommend them.

A couple of years back took my manual mk 7 golf R to get a stage 1 tune , results were excellent and was well happy with the service
Recently I cook my Mk 8 golf R to the lads for a stage 1 tune and it had really good gains314 to 415 bhp and the car is a dream to drive, it’s awesome
Ian and Dan are the guys to go to if you want all types of performance work done as they are incredibly knowledgeable and you know you are going to get a first class result for your money
They are good craic as well and it has been a pleasure doing business with them and I am back next week to have a “ghost” fitted

Well what can I say,we bought a Range Rover discovery.2017 reg,not knowing it had some problems to say the least,so I though will dealers just give me a load of excuses or see a good company that can sort files/ the brain on cars.Durham remaps was my first and best choice,my car decided to drop a gear at 70mpg then going into limp mode,on the middle lane of the motorway durham remaps sorted it no problem.they were great as I was strested to hell,I will recommend these to anyone who needs a good friendly professional services.well done lads.*****

I have just finally finished having my SQ7 Tdi remapped with Durham remaps. Over a period of a few months i have been back n forth to them as the car wasnt right ( nothing to do with Durham remaps.. It was the car) .. It had nothing to do with the map it was the car and everytime i went up to Durham remaps (a round trip of 4hrs 15mins) they took there time to try and pin point what the problem with a constant data logging and looking a different things. It is very easy for a customer like me to be disheartened when something doesn't work as it should and think.. Oh I'll take it somewhere else but these guys Ian and Dan went above and beyond to help me with this. In the end i had a new high pressure fuel pump, lines, and all injectors tested and these guys were spot on with their diagnosis. My experince with Durham remaps was absolutely 5star and i cant praise them enough.. I listened to them with there constructive assessment of the car and in every occasion i went up we did make progress. The end result was 535bhp and 1029Nm of torque and i am so pleased with it, its an absolute animal. Would i recommend Durham remaps... 100% yes as i find there work ethics are alot better than most tuners as they take there time to make sure its right making sure your car has no underlying issues or if it has like mine had they take there time to offer advise and be constructive in what is required and its definitely worth the trip.
Once again i cant thank Ian and Dan enough and if you want your car tuning right visit these guys at Durham remaps.

Sad to see that there are negative reviews for there service.
I have had a BMW M50D that DR Durham Remaps completed a stage 2 remap and also regularly serviced.
The map, the work the performance and the servicing were absolutely top jobs.
I then had a Mercedes GLA45AMG which they completed a stage 1 and also serviced. Again phenomenal work and performance.
I have just had my Mini JCW stage 2 remap. The performance is more than I hoped for. I will be taking it back when it needs servicing.
Ian and Dan are always friendly, honest, helpful, down to earth, reasonable and decent.
I would recommend their skills and work to anyone.

STAY WELL AWAY IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING ABOUT YOU.....I HAD WORK DONE 2 YEARS AGO AND CONTACTED THIS IDIOT TODAY AFTER FINDING OUT HE PLAYS THE SAME OLD TRICK WITH MOST. I ASKED WHY HE LIED ABOUT THE FACT HE SOLD MY CATS ON WHEN AFTER THE SAME DAY HE TOLD ME HE BINS THEM. TODAY I SOLD A USED CAT FOR GOOD MONEY TO A COMPANY IN NEWCASTLE. I WONT NAME THE COMPANY BUT HE TOLD ME SOME INTERESTING FACTS. I WASNT HAPPY. ESPECIALLY AFTER SEVERAL 1000S OF CASH SPENT ON A REMAPP A NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM A DECATT AND SMALLER SUPERCHARGER PULLEY. AND EVEN THAT ON THE WAY HOME THE ENGINE MANAGMENT LIGHT CAME ON SO ANOTHER TRIP BACK UP ALSO THE ENGINE PAN FELL OFF HALF WAY HOME WHICH I SORTED. HIS COMMENTS WERE WE DIDNT WORK UNDER THE CAR?? REALY?? SO YOU DID ALL THAT WORK AND THE COVER FALLS OFF BY ITSELF? RIGHT NOW I NOTICED THE POST BELOW SAID SORRY YOU CANT WAIT IN HERE. HE IS RIGHT WHAT HE SAYS. Poor Service - Stay well clear.
I’m a real customer who took my Hyundai i800 to DR Durham Remap today. (Friday 10th March 2023. I live in Stanley.

Arrived at 12.55PM for a 1.00PM appointment to have car remapped to get rid of an adblue error (Car will not start after 200 miles).
Had little girl with me so headed over to Tesco for food and agreed to return at 3pm.
Returned at 3pm to an absolute attitude and a “you can’t sit in here, the waiting area is closed”. along with a “it’s not ready!”
I replied with “the least you could have done is call me, you knew I was coming back for 3pm”. Apparently it was 3pm if they rang me. That was not what we discussed.

Bearing in mind the temperature outside has been below freezing all day, my little girl and I left DR to walk round the block to kill time.
Around 3.10pm had a phone call, to say they couldn’t get the car connect, “no can do.” (Screen shot of incoming call attached, just incase there was any doubt I was a real customer or not).

My dash cam had been disconnected at the camera end and pointed up at the car roof and cables left hanging out under the dash.

Rang another local established remapping / garage and explained the situation.:: “Oh not another one from DR”. They told me to come straight down. They got connected to the car with in 20 minutes and all sorted within an hour.

Guy is well know for his threatening and unprofessional behaviour, especially when customers have returned with issues. He resorts to ringing the police when people get ticked off with the poor service.

Well presented workshop, nice logo / website etc. Just a bunch of cowboys.

Wish I had read these reviews before ringing them.

This is the second time I have had my BMW 5 series Touring into Durham Remaps, first was for a Stage 2 custom tune and this time it was for a full M5 style custom exhaust and got to say they didn’t disappoint, fantastic work guys, well impressed.
