Best thing ever
I look at all the complaints and for me it was the best thing I ever did. Although I miss the sport I can at least see highlights on YOUTUBE. If I really want to watch a game at the local PUB. No contracts that bind you, I can choose what I want to watch with other teaming services. Feel sorry for the people who is tied up in contracts. One fundamental principal DSTV is not gasp is "GIVE THHE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT" not what you think they want. They also underestimate the intelligence of their subscriber base. Sorry DSTV we have suffered to much for so long. "RIP"

Is there anyone out there who is able…
Is there anyone out there who is able to assist me please coz I've spoken to four DStv consultants already but I'm still stuck with the problem of not being able to watch any programming on the streaming app. Ten days now already. I get as far as "Welcome to DStv. Please wait while we get everything set up.." And that's it. Stuck on the blue DStv stream screen for hours on end. Literally. I've done the reboot uninstall install clear cache sign out sign in rigmarole but to no avail. Can anyone who maybe experienced the same problem advise me please?
Dstv streaming is rubbish
Absolutely pathetic and unprofessional service, streaming app hasn't been working for days, but when you are complaining, the first thing dstv wants to do is selling you insurance for your decoder...? Seriuosly guys? Empty words from the service agent...for me dstv is wasting money and time!

DSTV Streamer is the pits.
Wow this streamer must be the worst streaming platform on offer. Honestly doesn't work, especially when it comes to watching live games. All my other streaming platforms work, but DSTV, the pits. Only got for sports now I can't even watch that. I'm going to cancel my subscription. What an absolute waste of money.

Unwatchable (live) streaming service
Just to add to all the other various complaints...
It's bad enough that DSTV are 'selective' on which TV manufacturers they 'support' for their app, and even selective on specific models on those they do..... I own a Panasonic (brought with me when I came to SA) - who may not make the LATEST models, but they make the best quality products on the market. BTW - my TV does support likes of Youtube, Netflix etc, but NOT the DSTV app.....
So, whilst their app for Android and IOS does seem to work ok-ish for live streaming, in order to watch live streaming (ie. sport as, WHY else would you be paying their extortionate 'Premium' package, and they pretty much have a broadcast MONOPOLY in the SA market/geography...And VERY ironically, their recent Ad campaign bangs on incessantly about "choose choice"..!!) I have to resort to watching on my (HP) laptop, via a browser-based session and, plug my laptop into the TV to watch the big sports events on a bigger screen
So, here's the thing: even though their Ad campaign - also goes on about 'streaming your favourite events in less than 10 mins' and they clearly show/claim to support streaming to hand-held devices AND laptops/desktops. However, they are apparently TOO LAZY to produce an 'app for Windows' and TOO STUPID/LAZY to at least set up the HTML5/RTP (browser) session with sufficient read-ahead buffering to make up for their - frankly pathetic - streaming infrastructure/service, the same way their Android/IoS app covers up (mostly) that poor service. I occasionally have screen-mirrored their app on my Android phone to my TV which does not NOT suffer the same streaming 'under-run' that the browser session does, but screen-mirroring has its limitations when it comes to 'high movement' (screen/frame change data) such as rugby, football etc, and the image quality can suffer - understandably.
So, despite SEVERAL conversations over the last ~12 months with DSTV support, who in my experience are useless at the best of times, they repeatedly insisted blaming my Broadband provider ( "60Mbps fibre service", which DOES deliver that bandwidth level), my machine - high-spec HP EliteBook - and then even blamed the browser, even though I stated the SAME under-run occurs when trying Chrome, Edge, Firefox etc.
Having worked in IT (Network Design and Unified Communcations, IPTV etc) for 32+ years, I tried explaining to DSTV that even a '60Mbps fibre service' may normally have the occasional very short (milliseconds, normally) congestion at aggregation point(s), where some frame-loss can occur, or at least Jitter measurement will change, and that the DSTV device App (like YouTube, Netflix etc) has been designed with read-ahead and/ior Jitter busting buffers to cope with this, and they COULD do the same with an HTML-based session and solve the UNWATCHABLE 'service' I currently experience daily. But they were simply not interested... I might as well be speaking Greek to them.......
So I gave up trying and I for one hope that the Canal+ development will see some big change, both technicallly and culturally, and their arrogance (born from being a monopoly) to the various issues raised by large numbers of customers, will be addressed fully as an outcome.
For now, I have the prospect of TRYING to watch the US Open Golf over the next 4 days, with the streaming dropping out as much as every few minutes..... There's a great few months of sport coming up - T20 Cricket, 'The Euros' (football), Wimbledon, The Open, The Olympics, and its all likely to be largely ruined for me by a company that is - unsurprisingly - losing customers in their droves.
Simply put: it's a good job DSTV don't make beer, as their company Xmas parties would be the worst ever ('p***-up-in-a-brewery' etc.)
PS If reading this far (!) you might be thinking 'why not try an Android emulator for Windows', and run the DSTV app etc. I tried the two most popular emulators, and tried a fair amount of settings for both, but could not get the DSTV app to 'be happy' with the 'device'.
PPS.... and NO, I don't see why I should put up a satellite dish (+ pay MORE for Premium) when I have a perfectly good broadand fibre being paid for, plus the Western Cape weather (storms) coming through in next 3 months mean that even a satellite signal will likely get disrupted quite frequently. Nor have I entertained the idea of a 'streaming' box to plug into my TV, as a) the cost of the device and b) I can see plenty of complaints online about those too.......
Update (27/06) after enduring the torture/ruin of my (live) viewing of the US Open, then the T20 Cricket and the Euro 2024 (football), with the latter two still in progress plus Wimbledon, The Open and Olympics coming up, I will now try a Google/Android streaming box (kindly donated by a family member) with my TV.... :-((

DSTV is a scam! last month we paid
our package which included the top up, sadly we still we lost we didn't get data for the whole month.
Action taken
We called DSTV at first the consultant said the SIM was in active she had escalated the matter .
But still we data wasn't loaded instead we were told the data has been depleted 🤯 kanjani ?
Today I paid my package but still the signal is green "Kanti What's up"with DSTV?

It has been a month now since I paid but dstv Internet hasn't been loaded. I have been calling them and I even went to one of their branches in Umhlanga but still nothing happened. They keep on telling me the same thing that my matter has been escalated. This is the worst service I have received from dstv. They don't care about their customers. They are such a big company but their service is very poor.

DSTV approves/appoints only 1 local service provider in Bloemfontein - who provides absolutely the WORST service imaginable. Since Mond morning, just after 9, till today Friday 16:37 still the same unable to watch tv, I phoned 3 times today, to make sure they were going to come and address issue (all positive, we on our way) only now to hear, sorry- no such luck, hopefully tomm morning.
The fact that DSTV allows such behaviour from their service provider(google rf technologies bloemfontein and read reviews) - speaks volumes of the company DSTV
