my pick up time was 10am with reserved suv they made me wait till 1pm and gave me a impala sedan instead with charge of suv $350 the sedan was $150 when i booked the suv at that time they said they will adjust the price because they downgraded instead they charged my card double $799 i called them they informed me that it was a mistake but operators somehow run away and hang up the phones while i wait they know theyre at fault and running away from it i will never rent from drivo fox or ace ever again
My husband and I rented a car at the JFK airport. It was absolutely the worst experience we have ever had. We did not want to purchase their insurance so we provided a copy of our car insurance instead. They said that was not good enough because there wasn’t certain language on the policy. They said legally it had to say. Thank God, I was able to get a hold of my insurance agent who was able to provide what they needed. However, this process took an extra 45 minutes renting the car. I was not the only customer dealing with this issue. At the same exact time there were two other customers having the same issue as I was. I even overheard one gentleman say that he paid for their insurance and they were still making him pay an additional money on top of it. Once we returned the car and returned home, three days later we received an email stating that we had done $800 damage to the vehicle and that we needed to submit a claim to our insurance or use the credit card on file to pay for the damages. We did not damage the vehicle. I called my insurance agent and followed the instructions he gave me. I would never rent a car from this place. They are scam artists at the highest level.
Stay far away, I flew to JFK Airport in New York and rented a care at Drivo rent a car. I told them I had insurance and they said no problem.
I get the bill from American Express and they charged me an additional $150 for three day of insurance. I put in dispute with Amex and they said it was in the documents. I never received an itemized bill at the time of check in. They are scammers,

I’ve rented many cars and never had a problem. I should have known to not go with a company I’ve never heard of and just stuck with the companies I knew and paid a little more.
Not the greatest experience. We reserved a full size SUV. When we arrived they had nothing available. Waited over an hour and they tried to give us a small SUV which we agreed to. Went through all the paper work and signed everything only to find out they were giving us a mini van which I did not want. He said the small SUV I had agreed to ended up having an oil leak or something and they couldn’t give it to us and thought we’d want a van since we had two young kids with us. Finally agreed to a mid sized sedan. The agent said we’d get reimbursed the cost difference, never saw any sign of that. Upon making the reservation our plan was to drive to Canada from New York City to see family. Wasn’t aware you’re only allowed a handful of states to drive in, outside of those few states there’s different fees and penalties depending on the state, and some some states they flat out don’t allow and will report the car stolen if you drive to. The agent told us there was a $35 fee per day for driving to Canada. We thought he meant the days we were actually in Canada which was 3 days so we kept the reservation, only to find out that fee for some reason applied to all 7 days we had the car. We also got charged for an entire tank of gas even though it was returned 80% full. Would have taken at most $10 to fill at the gas station, instead got charged almost $100 to fill. Choose this company I had never heard of because it was the cheapest. I should have known I was going to get nickle and dimed to death and to just go with one of the well known companies and pay the little bit extra to avoid all these ridiculous fees. I guess you live and you learn. I haven’t yet received my charges for the tolls we went through on our trip. It’s been about 3 days since we returned. I’m sure that bill will be outrageous as well. Also reading on other reviews of getting charged for supposed damage days or weeks after return. I’m crossing my fingers that doesn’t happen to keep after all we paid already.
The only positive experience I had from this company was from the shuttle bus drivers to and from the airport. They were pretty top notch!
We will NEVER rent from this place ever again. when we picked up the rental we clearly told them that we will decline all insurance but somehow they tricked us into signing the agreement electing all the insurance options. Not to mention all the other things they try to charge you. This place is a total scam.
I'm very glad I chose this car rental company. Everything was handled professionally and efficiently — they booked the car within 10 minutes of my call, and handed it over just 10 minutes later. Fast, smooth, and hassle-free experience. Highly recommended!

I was very upset with the entire process. I had reserved my car over Expedia and I also bought insurance through a third party. However, when I arrived at 6am on June 22nd, the offices were not open. Employees passed me by and completely ignored me, even when I tried to talk with them. Other customers had gathered in the office, and no one informed us why we were not being helped. After more than 30 minutes from my scheduled pick up time, when someone did finally speak with me, I was informed I needed to purchase Drivo's insurance, which raised my fees to nearly double what they were quoted for. I was not given the opportunity to prove I had already purchased insurance. When I called the corporate offices, I was told there was nothing I could do. The representative was very rude on the phone and would not help me. When I returned the car early on June 28th, I was informed that the drop off office had been closed (even though it looked open) and was told to drive to the other office. The customer service was terrible, and I feel like I was ripped off. I was nickeled-and-dimed for dozens of fees which ended up raising my full rental even more. I would not recommend this company.
Updated - the company sent out several emails to me after I left this review. I was given the run-around for two weeks. A Carter L. from their customer care team left me on read several times in emails, and ultimately told me there was nothing they could do. I find it disingenuous that on this PUBLIC platform they responded to my message saying they "want to help" and yet when in private, they gave me nothing but indifference and shrugged shoulders. Do not rent from this company, they will nickel and dime you into nearly double what you were quoted.
I would like to tell my experience with Drivo rental cars always very smooth and reliable. They always attentive for each details , they accommodate my all demand size , color , brand of the vehicle. I will highly recommend to all locals and visitors. you will be happy

These people are the worst in the car rental business!
I rented on June 15, 2025 from LaGuardia. The wait in line was like forever. They then force their insurance on you, even though I gave them my car insurance plus extra insurance that I purchased from Expedia. Gave some bull about it not covering everything. They are SCAMMERS!
There is a $200 hold as security which I had no problem with as all rentals do, but upon return of the vehicle I was told it would take 2 weeks to return my money!! Those 2 weeks went by and still no return of my $200. I called and was told it takes 4 WEEKS!! I could not believe this as others return your money as you return their vehicle.
I then saw tolls fees and now I'm seeing another charge on my card for July 4th! I returned this vehicle from June 20, 2025 where is this charge coming from? THEY are a set of THIEVES!!!
Guys you are warned to NOT EVER use this #DrivoRentACar @Drive.rentacar place. They can't be trusted.
I rented from Payless, Hertz & Enterprise and never encountered this kind of unprofessional behavior.

Not enough staff available to help. Had to stay in line for over 30 minutes. They will do anything to force you to buy insurance from them and double the price of online. Plus they are not in the same place as other rental cars and you have to get an shuttle to get there.
Worst rental car company.
They do over charge customers, they make you buy coverage even if you are already insured.
