I recently used DMH Stallard for both the sale of my property and the purchase of my new home, and I was extremely pleased with the service I received from Julia and Joanna throughout the process.

They were always quick, efficient, and prompt in responding to any queries I had. Moving home can feel quite overwhelming, particularly when buying and selling at the same time, but they explained everything clearly and made the whole process feel far more manageable.

Both Julia and Joanna were friendly, positive, professional, and approachable throughout, and I always felt supported and kept informed. Any questions I had were answered promptly and clearly, which gave me a great deal of reassurance during what can be a stressful time.

I’m very pleased that I chose DMH Stallard and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a professional legal service with a genuine human touch.

In all my years’ experience dealing with errant professionals, this is the worst firm I have ever come across.
Our complaint centred on their poor handling of 2 family trusts for which they were trustees. This included unexplained losses on the funds held, excessive fees which tripled overnight without explanation, persuading a beneficiary with mental health issues to approve the appointment of a second partner in their firm to avoid outside scrutiny, a number of errors in dealing with the administration and taxation of the trusts and failing to keep the beneficiaries informed.
Throughout the complaints process they maintained their position that they had no duty of care towards us as we were beneficiaries and not direct clients of their business so refused to take responsibility for their actions. They did not follow their own complaints procedure and, instead, tried to obscure the issues raised even spurning any request to meet with them to discuss the issued that had arisen or explain their point of view. At one point I even had the phone put down on me for no reason – there was no aggression from our side.
As a result of their refusal to communicate we had to escalate our complaint to the Ombudsman who felt they were unable to help because trust laws are written to protect trustees even when they fail to adhere to proper or accepted standards.
Senior management and the chairman of the business were contacted to ask them to use their integrity to reach a fair and reasonable settlement, but we were summarily dismissed without them even taking the trouble to review the paperwork.
Although the family received a small reduction in the fees charged (just over £7,000), this was nowhere near the money lost to the family (which was more like £50,000) and we remain aggrieved.

They represented my ex wife and the family business which I’m a shareholder. They were aware of this conflict of interest and just carried on!!!!

Amber Matheson was very understanding and helpful and provided me with absolute clarity on the next steps for my divorce and associated costs. There was no cost for the first call to run through what I would need to do and Amber is very easy to talk to.

In my personal experience, what you will get with DMH Stallard is a solicitor utterly bereft of legal knowledge; talented only in sending out bills.

It's your money, and you can use any firm you like. But my VERY strong advice is to stay MILES away from these clowns.

This firm of solicitors are poor at best.Please do not go with them they are totally incompetent from start to finish.They have cost us as a family around £70000 of inheritance through bad advice ,and this is without their costs what may be £10/£15000.so please go to someone who knows will writing and probate as this firm dose NOT !!!!!

I have had a fantastic, flawless experience with DMH Stallard. From the moment they picked up my case to the end of Trial last week, I can honestly say I have no complaints what so ever. I worked with Gemma from their Horsham office and she is exceptional. Their Brighton team also assited me, nothing was too much trouble and they were all fantastic. DMH Stallard are the reason I am still standing, and thanks to them I have a settlement which gives my children and I a future. I cannot thank DMH Stallard enough for their time, expertise and care. 5 Star review and I will recommend them to everyone I know.

Because of Phil Morton’s “advice” I ended up involved in a criminal case against a woman I have never met. This was as a result of manipulation with non molestation orders made against her by my partner. The targeted people get persecuted by the police, even though they are fully innocent. Morton himself does not make any secret of what kind of service he offers to a client. Read his ad on the DHM Stallard site closely. Under the title “How we've helped”, he provides details of his “help”: “ We were successful in obtaining an order forbidding the former partner from contacting our client, his family or associates. We subsequently worked with the police to enforce a power of arrest... The former partner was subsequently arrested and charged in the Criminal Courts”. It is clear that the “help” consists in making the targeted person “arrested and charged in Criminal Courts”.
My partner apparently had some old problem with his ex that I didn't know about at all. Morton advised him to apply for non molestation order against her. He convinced my partner that it was lawful and everybody does it. I did not know they put my name in the text of the order as “associate”. I did not know that this was illegal. The insertion of third party’s name in the order could be done through manipulation. To make my name listed in the order lawfully I needed to make an application and witness statement as a victim of domestic violence. By emphasising “we were successful” in obtaining an order that includes third party references (“family and associates”) Morton alleges he knows how to manipulate court.
As the result of all this absurd case it turned out that legally I am a “victim of domestic violence” of the person I have never heard of. And she was also arrested and prosecuted on the ground of her “breach” of the order.
I did not understand anything about non molestation orders. What is lawful and what is not. It is only when my law student daughter went into details of the case with her professors and I was told where the fraud lies.
Morton misled my partner by stating he does not run any risk, that all he did was an usual practice.
It is absurd and illegal how a person can be charged with “domestic violence” against another with whom they never had contact with. Such practice must come to an end sooner rather than later.
I work in school and I am afraid that if something happens this case will tarnish my reputation.
I would like to make some kind of declaration that I am not involved in the case, but I am afraid of doing so as well. My partner, I and my daughter leave in horror.

This firm should be avoided at all costs. Initially I thought my ex had found a smart but aggressive firm so I was worried. They cost my ex (& ultimately me) a fortune and gained nothing, which meant my ex (& ultimately me) ended up with less than going to mediation. Obviously some of the fault will lie with my ex for not trying mediation, however the lack of solid advice from DMHS, despite the first Judge stating a settlement needing to be done quickly led to a drawn out fight. I'm pretty certain that during the process they contravened the professional code of conduct. They wanted to fight all the time and were not interested in keeping their clients costs down. Their strategy was to threaten me, then do nothing whilst all the time costing their client more money with each letter.
Incompetent was an understatement. Lots of mistakes in questions and statements throughout the whole process. If they were my lawyers I would be reporting them.
Avoid at all costs.

All my opponent had to do to win my case was just ignoring DMH's communication. From our point of view as customers, their level of incompetence is beyond any degree of basic knowledge of the legal field and beyond any degree of acceptability from the customer point of view.

Until I decided to give up, we went through the first tier, appeal, consultation with external councilor (I still don't quite get why we needed a consultation)... and on the other side, they had to do nothing but doing nothing at all. Probably following wiser legal advice.

DMH said that my case was very plain. It is an evident violation of the covenant contract. I should have dumped them the first time we lost.

What left us flabbergasted (including DMH's litigator apparently) was that there wasn't even any need to fight back. We kept losing in court, losing time and losing money.

They offered a discount on the last invoice of £130 as a way "bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion for all parties concerned" I decided to pay the full amount and write this review to make my experience public.
The whole procedure cost me thousands by the way.

Atrocious! Please Avoid them completely!
Unheard of levels of incompetency and unprofessionalism.

The solicitor didn’t have my phone number when the barrister asked him to contact me to tell me she wasn’t going to attend. 1. He charged me for asking for my number 2. Charged me again for passing it on to her ( and these are all big figures ) 3. Claimed that he did not even know what she wanted my number for .
Honestly he thinks he should charge me for his incompetency and lack of understanding !

This firm charged me over 3000 pounds for incorrect advice and didn't even draft the letter I needed. I went to a new lawyer and she charged 600 pounds for correct advice and the drafting of the letter I needed.

I was obliged to deal with this company in reviewing a deed of covenant recently.

Was charged over £1000 for reviewing one covenant.

I had 3 deeds fully drawn up by a different solicitor from another company as part of the same transaction for less than £800

Avoid any dealings with these absolute crooks!
