Myself & my wife went to shirley branch of direct specs yesterday. Served by the very knowledgeable Gary who fitted my wifes new glasses & helped me order two pairs of sunglasses. All round great service....

We have just been to the Shirley Branch with our brand new prescriptions, and were served by Gary who impressed with his friendly thoroughness. We got our new reasonably priced glasses ordered and all details taken with no messing around, exactly what you want.

Great service Matt & Gary did what they said they would do
Visiting family in Shirley, called into have a look at Specs, found suitable pair but not colour. Many thanks to Matt who phoned around. Three days later just before returning back to Cornwall there was four pairs to choose from in varying colours. Great service and did what they said. Fantastic. Gary sorted my Prescription / order. Contacted few days later to say specs were ready. Picked up at next visit- Specs Vari-focals are great. Spot on great service

We went into the shop this morning and we were greeted by Gary for the third time in the last 12 months. The service we both received was impeccable and was a pleasure to recieve such help from Gary. We would highly recommend him to anyone. He is very kind, helpful and gives a professional service.

Great experience
I went to the Shirley Solihull branch this morning. Gary who works at the store gave excellent customer service above and beyond what I was expecting adjusting the arms on another pair of my glasses to stop them slipping down. I would highly recommend this shop and was so impressed ordered a pair of prescription reading glasses.

Broken frames
I have just taken my glasses into store as the frame had broken. As I have only had them a couple of months Gary told me they would be repaired free of charge within a couple of days.

I visited Saturday afternoon to look at some prescription sunglasses. Jennifer was extremely thorough & professional not only in advising me of the types of frames that suited me but also the various different tints that were available. She made me fell welcome, relaxed & advised me of all my options at every step of the way.

I have used Direct Specs in Shirley on a couple of occasions now and always had excellent service from Gary. The choice of frames are a great mix and the prices are brilliant. Will be going again .

Disappointed - poor communication between staff
08/04/24 - My initial visit to the store was OK. I was after two pairs of glasses both varifocal, thinning & one pair tinted to use as sunglasses - Gary was very helpful & went through all the options and prices. Glasses ordered.
A couple of days later I received a phone call from Gary re an issue with lens supply, he said he would come back to me with possible options - heard nothing & assumed all was OK.
19/04/24 - text received to let me know glasses ready for collection.
20/04/24 - I visited the store to pick up my glasses. Not Gary this time. The lady who served me had issues finding the glasses, found one pair & to my horror the lens were far to thick despite paying for the premium option. I had explained to Gary originally that the lens should be no thicker than my existing glasses. The second pair had not been made - a waste of a journey. The lady who served me was not particularly polite stating it was not her fault & hadn't been told about the situation with the glasses. This is not my issue & I told her so. She then stated "I should be retired & not working" - poor attitude.
I insisted she rang Gary who then communicated the situation to her. I then left the shop for them to sort my order. In fairness I was given a pair of sunglass clip on lens to use as I was due to drive on holiday that day.
24/04/24 - received call from Gary that they were unable to supply the thinner lenses with the frame I ordered & asked if there would be another frame I liked?
I requested a refund - I'd had enough of waiting for my glasses. I was asked to pop into the shop when back off holiday to sign a form & process refund.
29/04/24 - visited the shop to collect my prescription card which was with the order & to sort refund. Gary served me & told me he could not do refund as he didn't know how to & that his colleague would be back on Wednesday. I insisted that he made a phone call so that someone could talk him through the refund process...ridiculous.
I eventually received my refund, my prescription & left.
Would I use Direct Specs or recommend them to anyone? Not in a million years.
Poor service, poor communication between staff, poor attitude.
Shame as I actually liked the frames I had chosen.
Disappointing.

Really happy with the service from the. Halesowen branch. I had lost my glasses and I ordered at 9.30 and they were ready by 10 am. Highly recommend and price is very reasonable based on what you want.
