I have used turbo tax to complete my taxes for at least the last ten years. I have been happy with how easy it is and how you can work on them when you have time. This year I used the credit karma option to get my refund faster than having it sent to my checking account. To be fully transparent I did not fully understand what this would mean for my return nor did I do any investigating to understand it either. I take full responsibility for that. I will say if I did take the time to understand it, I would never let CK take control of return. When my return was processed and sent to my CK account I logged on to see what it took to get access to my return. They sent out a debit card and had a digital card option that could be used for purchases. Since I needed cash I was not interested in either option. That's when I found out they limit transfers to external accounts to 1000.00 a day. There is also a standard 2-3 day wait on all transfers. That is typical for most EFTs and I fully expected that. There was a second transfer option that will charge a 1.75% fee to transfer instantly (within 30 minutes). That in itself is a joke... a fee to move money??? So I call customer service and ask to close my accounts. That's a hard no because I have money in my accounts. They can't change my transfer limit, so I get to transfer 1000.00 a day until it's all transferred. The accounts are not like a normal bank account; they restrict what you can do with your money and that's the frustrating part. They claim the transfer limit is a security feature. How does it make my account more secure when they verify all my personal info before talking to me? That's no different than calling my normal bank and making the same request which they would do.

On a side note, the website/app seem to promote credit card usage and payday loans. Both are tools that can be used to help in a pinch but can get out of control very easily and is very hard to dig your way out of. It can turn into a cycle of borrow and repay and the lender and CK are financial benefitting from this with large fees and interest rates or advertising money. I would call this very predatory especially since the website is supposed to be about being responsible with your money. I didn't use these services, but had to rant a little about the website.

I hope this helps people make a more informed decision. Just because I can't recommend this service doesn't mean it can't work for others.

Credit Karma reports who knows what for your bureau scores. In September 2025 they reported my score dropping 89 points, after building the score back up (??? making payments on credit cards - not using them) the have again reported my score dropping 59 points. This is crap and a way to sell high rate credit cards with annual fees of $75 to $149 annually. That is all they are - a way to sell credit crap to people who are looking for help.

I just contacted Discover customer service rep through "CrediKrama" I asked then if it would be better to apply for a Discover Card through their website, as opposed to creditkrama, and was told that it would be better through credit karma, but after reviewing trust pilot and reading all the reviews, I realized that this is a scam and I would probably wind up losing money and destroying my credit. So this is just an eye opener for anyone willing to trust credit karma. Don't do it , don't get suckered in to believing it will help your credit score because it won't like the saying goes, if it sounds too good to be true it's because it's a SCAM!!!

Real scammers. Never talk or have any business with them. They just use your info to screw your credit and to get money from you!!!

I am trying to change my log in credentials since I closed my old email account and telephone number I had on file wirh creditkarma. They use Mitek to verify identity. They accepted the front of my DL but could not read the bar code on the back of my DL. I'm in the process of changing my address on my DL and the DMV lined out the bar code. They then asked for a resident permit which I have no idea what this is. Mitek sent me a picture of a woman's DL who lives in Munich, Germany. So much for the integrity and security of credit karma's systems. I have gotten nowhere with this company for the last 3 hours or more.

Credit Karma is a scam and they give their customers false information to encourage them to open a Spend account with them. None of the perks they promised came true and I will be closing all my Credit Karma accounts. Don’t make the same mistakes I did.

If I could give this a zero star review I would. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT use this service. Never in my life have I had such a hard time accessing my money, or had to pay such astronomical fees just to access my money. I'm trying to reach out to customer service is pointless! All they do is tell you over and over again that you have the wrong department and they have to transfer you to the right place only to re-explain yourself to be told the same thing over and over and over again until you get disconnected or there's no resolution. I will NEVER use this service again and I hope you take my advice and don't use it as well

Do NOT send your tax refund to a Credit Karma account.
Unless you enjoy jumping through flaming hoops to access your own money while they “verify” it’s you.

Credit karma straight trash

First time using the card for tax refund. Luckily I transferred a good portion out. I go to a few stores in the mall and shop and my last purchase is declined for security. I'm told to wait a few hours and try again by support. I already answered the question if I was making the purchase but I still have to wait longer? So we're given a max on daily spending, but I only spend $200 in 2 stores and that's where they decide to cap me?? Had security running after me and everything! Can't even enjoy a little time out shopping to unwind. Needles to say I will be shredding this card and closing my account. How unfortunate. Horrible company. It's tax time they should know people are gonna spend money.

TurboTax has this card positioned to make you think you’ll get benefits like your tax refund faster but all you’ll get is MAD! Doesn’t work work with Zelle anymore. I’ve tried 8 times in different ways to pay my rent via getting money ordered. DECLINED DECLINED DECLINED - called and called - hassles- app - inconsistent - DO NOT EVEN GET THIS CRAPPY CARD worthless

Don't trust credit carma said if I applied for a credit card on their site no ding on my credit score. When I applied put a hard inquiry on my record and dropped my score. When I reached out to credit Karma they wouldn't respond.

Stay away and never use their Savings account! You will have long delays getting your money out. They entice you with a short-term high interest rate, but when it ends and you want your money out there are significant delays!

I can't even begin to explain just how terrible CK is. A disastrous show of a company. They've wronged me on multiple occasions. Whatever you do - ABSOLUTELY DO NOT fall for opening a CK spend/save/builder account with them. I did, simply because it said it would raise my score. I set up auto payments of $20 for each time I got paid to go into that account. They took $20 four times, and NOTHING ever showed in my CK account. It was still sitting at $0. My score never increased (obviously), and I had to dispute charges with my bank, who confirmed the discrepancies and was able to refund me my money. I still have no idea where that money ever went because CK couldn't supply me with an actual answer. Fast forward several months later now, and I'm receiving notifications that I have CK builder/save account payments due. It flagged as late and has now dropped my score 40 points even though there is NO account any longer to make payments to. It's been closed. I have a case closure number and all. I tried chatting with someone about it on the CK help center - they unprofessionally ended the chat mid-conversation after I expressed my frustration and concern with how it affected my score and how poorly they're conducting business. To say I'm angry is an understatement. These people are awful.

I have not been able to log into my account for over a half a year. All I have changed was my phone number the software they use to verify my identity does not work properly two months I’ve been trying to log into my account. I have eliminated all variables on my end. I got a brand new phone brand new device brand new phone number ID Took pictures of my ID outside inside manually auto capture everything they’ve told me for the past two months and it still rejects my identity I was able to no problem. Use TurboTax and log into the IRS with my new device. You cannot contact anybody by phone. It’s all through Chatbot and a chat text And they give you cookie cutter answers with complex situations. It’s been a horrible experience. I still can’t log into my account I’ve done everything above and beyond my end to eliminate any type of variable it’s not an operator error on this. It is a software issue and they have nobody to talk to horrible experience. Stay away stay away

Filled taxes way before the deadline and have waited longer than anyone else in the world and still haven’t got them… credit karma delays the process, do not in any way use them unless you want to wait forever.

Straight up liars. They gave literally everyone in America their refund early and somehow because I was a customer for like 10 years and got an advance the option wasn't given to me. CK is only alive because of all the early this and early that and let me tell you from direct deposit to to taxes their absolute liars. Draining this account after my deposits like Trump drains a swamp and using Chime from here on out. Hope holding that refund until the 7:30 PM of the day on my transcript was worth it.

Horrific customer service juat to help me login. I am done with this stupid service. It is notnworth the hassle.

Terrible company. No customer support number. Request more personal information than a secret security background check, and still could not create an account. I am convinced they are phishing for personal data.

One star is too many. Credit Karma is a scam. I went to get a refund advance which I might add, I truly didn’t even need… they just guaranteed approval. Then they told me that I was denied, because I didn’t “finish the application” which was nothing except “it needed to be approved first” which it WAS approved. They also said 5 days early, which is a crock of crap. IRS website says my deposit date is 2/25. It’s 2/23, I paid my fees up front, no advance and STILL don’t have my deposit. If I had used my bank account I would have had my money on Saturday. Please do not fall for their scams. I’ve always used TT and never any issue but CK is a scam and I’ll have to pay them to move it to my bank. They basically are out here scamming people, telling lies to get people to use them just so they can get your money. I will absolutely never use them.

AGAIN, I want to clarify that Turbo tax is incredible, never any issue with them. The issue is with CREDIT KARMA. They are a scam. Just don’t!
