AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!
I came across Bayer Car Sales on the Car Guru website, A Jaguar F Pace 2lt Petrol Portfolio was being advertised.
I liked the car so decided to go and look at it after talking to Shaun who told me it was in tip top condition, when I got there things went smoothly and I purchased the car on finance. On the way home driving from Portsmouth to Southend On Sea Essex the engine light came on!! I was almost home so I called Bayer Car Sales straight away, they said they only use their garage so I had to bring it back to Portsmouth, I was given details of K2 Garage Services, when I rang I was told i would have to take the car for a diagnostic check, this cost me £60! The diagnostics showed a long list of things but after sending photos of the report it was decided that the problem was the Actuators and they would order the part but the soonest they could fit it in was in 4 weeks, I was told id be ok driving the car in the meantime, even though they had no idea what was really wrong with it.
I took the car to K2 Garage Services and left the car with them for a week so they had time to "Test It" after a week i returned to collect it, I was told they had driven the car but couldn't be certain that the light would stay off, he said "if it comes back on pop it back" Never mind i was paying for petrol for 2 cars to take it 110 miles each way!
After having the car back it was just a week until the engine light came on again!!! At this point I was very worried about the car due to the long list of errors on the diagnostic check, I decided to ask for a replacement car, I was also having issues with the center console screen flickering, id lost all confidence in it.
I then spoke to Lloyd at Bayer Car Sales who is very good at avoiding phone calls, he's always "with a customer" or "Doing a Handover" he never called me back and I had to refuse to get off the phone saying I was happy to hold until he was free in order to speak to him. Then there was the constant waiting for Elliott the "Boss" he's never in before 2pm or Lloyd "forgot to speak to him" basically every delaying tactic possible.
Eventually I was told i could come and exchange the car, the new car was a Jaguar F Pace 2lt petrol R Sport it was more expensive but as im disabled this was the type of car I needed, big enough for my wheelchair and easier to get in and out of. The new car seemed good and I thought my troubles were over But.... on the way home the ABS stopped working showing alarms and stating not to drive!!! I sent Lloyd a video showing this on the dashboard, he said I could bring it back to K2 Garage Services, but as they didn't fix the last car and id have the costs of petrol for 2 cars going back and forth again i asked if I could get it fixed and they cover the costs as its under warranty! He agreed so I got Diagnostic Checks done it showed a faulty sensor on front nearside wheel, I paid £42.24 for this with Halfords who also got the part from Jaguar, they did the work in a day and with my partners discount it only cost £183.84 .
I sent Lloyd at Bayer Car Sales the invoice and requested the refund, this took 5 days of repeated calls, chasing Lloyd and being told they were only going to give me a "Contribution" at this point with all the stress id dealt with from 24th Jan until 16th April my partner rang and firmly told them they were taking advantage of me and that under warranty they had to refund me they finally paid the £183.84, im still down by £100 for 2 Diagnostic tests!! But im just glad to be done with them hopefully.
What was meant to be an enjoyable time buying a new dream car, it was full of stress Bayer Car Sales are happy to talk to you until they have there money, then it's constant chasing and being ignored, terrible customer service, if you have to deal with this Garage make sure you get the car independently tested, they can not be trusted. Also the first car was put up for sale again shortly after id exchanged it, i bet they have just turned the light off and passing on to the next person, I cant see they've done all the work required for it.
You've been warned.
AVOID
Very long story but you should avoid this company at all costs. Put a deposit down in November for a Porche Macan. After a test drive if became clear that it needed repairs done to it. It turns out it needed new engine pistons (massive job). After waiting 3.5 MONTHS for the repairs to be done, and being lied to each week by both the sales team and the garage, we eventually couldn’t afford to wait any longer. So we pulled out of the sale in March 2026 and requested our deposit back (as per our consumer rights) obviously because they couldn’t provide us with a working vehicle. Now they’re ignoring these requests and we’re about to start proceedings with the small claims court. If you have to work with these guys USE A REPUTABLE PRE PURCHASE INSPECTION COMPANY, or AVOID COMPLETELY
Range Rover evoque
Range Rover evoque told me the tax was cheap and it cost me 700 for the year no petrol in it when I picked it up 3 years of missing of service the history then I took the charger lead back faulty then all the trouble stared first the Ev stoped working then new battery two new tyres then I’ve spent more then 4000 pound sorted the car out I payed 22,000 it’s disgusting the warranty was rubbish only covers for 300 pounds never again would I even step foot in this garbage garage
AVOID AVOID!
Phoned up and emailed with a genuine interest in an Audi S5 being advertised. When I asked about the service history and timing chain as this was a higher mileage example the guys tone instantly changed. "I'll have to get back to you with that" was the response I got before the phone cut off. There was never a call back or response to my email.
Avoid this place at all costs unless you want to get fleeced. Taken my money elsewhere
Absolutely appalling AVOID at any cost
Absolutely appalling AVOID at any cost. I bought a car from Bayer Car Sales Ltd and informed them of faults the very next day. They ignored me until I went back to the dealership and tried to return the car. They wouldn’t accept it so wasted another 150 mile journey. I emailed back and forth and they have fraudulently fixed the some of the issues and said it was not broken at time of sale. I have camera footage and app data from the car showing them changing parts and test driving the car. I am currently in the process of taking them to court to get my money back plus compensation. They are literally the nicest people until you hand your money over. They won’t take cards so you can’t claim it back. Avoid avoid avoid.
Wish I had seen the reviews before I…
Wish I had seen the reviews before I bought my car. Had issues the moment I drove away on the motor way. Of course Bayer ignored emails for a month then when I started sending recoded post letter they all of a sudden started replying. Crooks! Now they want me to send my car 160 miles to there crooked designated garage for repair. Avoid!
Poor after sale care
Purchased a Ford Ranger - nice vehicle. Pre sale was great, nice and smooth. Within a few days my key was working intermittently. Took it to their garage, but Bayer refused to replace the key. Basically said, not our problem, not in warranty so you're on your own. Bayer sell a lot of cars, so maybe they just don't have time to check vehicles properly before they go out the door. You may get lucky, but you may not! Proceed with caution.
Should have read the reviews!
I’d rate the salesman Dan 5/5, great bloke and would happily deal with in the future.
However, with the car being the most important part of the review, it’s going to have to be a 1/5.
The issues started within a couple of miles of leaving the showroom, TPMS lights coming in, with what turned out to be a slow puncture, a screw that had clearly been in a while (almost buried in the rubber) and been disguised with a bump of air prior to pick up. By Day two of ownership, I had 3 different warning messages. With the dealership being four hours away, I took to the local JLR, who were brilliant. The only expense I had to foot was the tyre, which I did try to pass on to Bayer, however as per many other reviews people have left, their after sales is exceptionally poor and they couldn’t have been more dismissive.
Avoid at all costs! Terrible company, You might be lucky but risky for sure!
Video & description didn’t show the true likeness of the VW Shuttle. Was in much worse condition and serious damage was hidden. Most importantly, 2 rear tyres were illegal but they argued it’s only the centre that counts. Outside edges were completely bald over & 25% of width so definitely should not have passed MOT. Seatbelt in the back was completely broken with all parts missing, another MOT failure. Bumper wasn’t on straight and one side had been resprayed at some point. They refused to return my £500 deposit and did not care at all about the points I raised. If they comment anything back I will happily add pictures and message screen shots showing my points. Would never go near this company as very clear they would sell any old rubbish and hide things. How anyone would let a customer drive away with a vehicle in that state is beyond me. You have been warned.
They don't tell you the truth about the Vehicle
Avoid this company at all costs. When I collected my vehicle, they provided only one key, which immediately caused problems. Without the second key, I was unable to set myself up as the admin user. Even worse, the car still contained the previous owner’s details—including email addresses and usernames—a clear breach of GDPR.
I contacted the company regarding the missing key, and their response was shocking: they claimed they were not responsible and told me to purchase another key from Polestar/Volvo at my own expense. Since then, they have completely ignored my emails and phone calls.
This level of negligence and lack of accountability is unacceptable. Do yourself a favour and steer clear of this company.

contacted them regarding a Taycan they had in stock, so pushy trying to get a deposit on the car before seeing it I now know why, paid deposit and explained I would not be doing my finance with them it all changed, telling me they would not accept my payment from a 3rd party unless I paid them an extra 2.5% fee £1000 (against the law) but he would try speaking to the owner to overturn that decision. Owner said No!
I then further inspected the cars spec to find the alloy wheels and tyres they claim to be costing £5200 are worth £1200 aftermarket alloys and the lowest budget tyres you can buy… what an absolute joke
I refused to pay the extra 2.5% and requested my deposit back to be told No! Your not getting your deposit back…
The worst experience I have ever had buying a car…. With my solicitors now.
Please do not go near this company read the reviews and run a mile.
NO STAR!
NO STAR!! We spent £30650 buying a 2020 Volvo XC90 from Bayer in June 2025. As explained to Shaun the dealer we needed a reliable SUV as we live in the Highlands. We test drove the car with Shaun to a very local Tesco's garage to get fuel a matter of a mile or two, we were not offered a longer test drive? We thought it a bit strange as the time but stupidly discounted it, all I shall say is probably someone was covering up the fact that error codes and engine management light appear on this vehicle periodically. We paid the deposit and collect the car a few days later. That weekend we were making our mammoth drive back home only to breakdown a few miles into the journey. We managed to limp to a Halfords to diagnosed the fault. It was the DPF. We cancelled out plans to go home and took the car back to Bayer that afternoon and was instructed to go to K2 in Fareham which was their preferred garage to get the car looked at. K2 regenerated the DPF stating the problem had been solved, it was probably soot. That evening we set off again to the Highlands this time getting as far as Birmingham when the vehicle experienced a problem again and the Engine management light came on. The car seemed to drive normally and we were at the point that we had no choice; we had to get back to work. We eventually got home and I booked the vehicle into Inverness Volvo for a health check that week. Volvo Inverness had the car in for a whole day and found lots of faults. The technician at Volvo explained that some dealers just clear fault codes and pass vehicles on to unsuspecting buyers which he said seems to be the norm nowadays unless you purchase a vehicle from an approved dealer. My XC90 had 24 fault codes in total!! The main faults were to do with a cracked DPF pipe and an oil leak from the engine together with many electrical faults. He said the cost to repair would run into the thousands and I should try to get my money back. With this information and written proof from Inverness Volvo I confronted Shaun at Bayer car sales with the findings and said that under the 2015 consumer buyers act as the purchase was still within 30 days, I was rejecting the car and would be returning it for a full refund. He said he would let the owner Elliott Bayer know but in all his time working there not once has Elliott ever agreed to refund a vehicle either broken or not. After trying many times and many phones’ calls later I was simply ignored. Knowing I lived in the Highlands they probably thought I wouldn’t drive it back down to Porchester but that is exactly what I did the following week. I emailed and spoke to both Shaun and Lloyd about returning the car and was told the best they could do was to take the car back to K2 and they would fix it. I felt I had no choice to try to protect the money I had invested in the vehicle. I reported Bayer to Citizens advice and was told that my case against Bayer was a good one and told it has been sent to Hampshire Trading Standards awaiting and outcome. Meanwhile, the Volvo was eventually repaired by K2 costing Elliott Bayer over £4000.00. I drove the vehicle back to the Highlands the following week and again the engine management light illuminated on the journey home. This time it was with fault codes to do with the Turbo's. The following week I drove it back to K2 at Bayer who kept the vehicle for two days and then told me they couldn't find anything wrong with the car except a fault code belonging to a speaker. Again, I tried to get through to Elliott for a refund, this time he answered saying basically he wasn't bothered but agreed to pay for half a warranty!! This has been an horrendous time and expense for me. Countless journeys to Fareham from Scotland. Elliott and his team really couldn't care at all. Please do yourselves a favour and look elsewhere, there are plenty of other honest dealers out there. If you buy from Elliott Bayer, it is true, you might be the lucky one who doesn't have a problem but are you willing to take that risk? Elliott Bayer is hoping you will which is why he is in business.
Dan at Bayer cars sales, Taycan S
Bought a Taycan s from Dan at Bayer car sales, I have to say its been the best used car experience I've had and I've had a lot of cars!!!
I was a little hesitant due to price and review. Dan did a video of the car and pointed out any defect, to be honest they looked much worse in the video than they are. Dan really knows his cars and a all round nice guy. Answered every qustion I had promptly and politely.
4 hour drive back and the car didnt disappoint. I did say that that I'd looked on the reviews and it put doubt in my mind, both the sales guys are new to Bayer so this could make a differance going forward.
Thanks again Dan I will be touch next time I change my car.
Review of Bayer Car Sales Ltd
I purchased an Audi e-tron S (reg OY21 FVH) from Bayer Car Sales in July 2025. I was told in the sales video that it was a "9/10" condition vehicle, with only some cosmetic trim damage.
The reality was very different. Within days I discovered:
Dashboard damage (not mentioned).
A buckled wheel.
No second key (£500 to replace).
Tyres worn down to 2.7mm with severe inner-edge wear – needing immediate replacement.
Undertray and wheel arch protection damaged (confirmed by Audi main dealer).
Droning noise between 70–75mph, likely tyre/drive related.
Auction sheet later revealed it was graded below average – something they never disclosed.
I accepted some cosmetic bodywork issues upfront, but the scale of undisclosed faults was completely unacceptable. When I raised these problems with Bayer Car Sales, their after-sales service was effectively non-existent. They refused to take responsibility or resolve any of the issues, leaving me with no choice but to formally reject the vehicle under my consumer rights.
This experience shows how they overstate condition and underplay faults. Once they have your money, you are on your own. I would strongly advise extreme caution before buying here – don’t rely on their “video walkarounds” or descriptions.
Great
I can only comment on my experience but have to say that the salesman I dealt with Lloyd is the most helpfull car salesman I have ever dealt with not pushy and spent time with myself and especially my wife with the car and is an asset to the company. Left us alone to discuss as it was a big purchase for us ,and when we picked car up it was seamless Lloyd even put my granddaughters car seat in for us .great guy I will be recommending then and returning when I need Another car
Would recommend!
Huge respect for the owner Mr Bayer!
The guy I initially spoke to made a mistake which cost me £100 fuel and a total 12hour drive only to find out the car was not as described. I declined to buy the car and he didn’t return the deposit of £500 as apparently that was their policy. Disappointed I left the place and asked him to speak the owner. He promised to do that but then I am guessing didn’t and stopped replying to my messages.
Day 2 I contacted the business through their website and another person replied who was more than keen to help and not too long had spoken to the Boss and returned my refund.
Anybody looking to buy from Bayer car sales should do so in confidence that the owner is genuine, sometimes staff make mistake and communication can better but that can happen anywhere.
Note: I was not asked by anyone to put up this review, having seen some poor reviews about this business, I just wanted to pass on my genuine feeling.
And thank you Mr Bayer for understanding and returning my deposit!
Long review but I urge you to read in…
Long review but I urge you to read in full before you buy from Bayer
I bought a car from Bayer 20th December 2023.
The car is a Hybrid and developed a fault when driven in hybrid mode on a long journey.
For transparency this was 4 months after buying the car but was the first time the car was driven a long distance in hybrid mode. This led me to believe the car had as fault when buying (I still believe this now).
I sent an email to bayer and was ignored and subsequently followed up, only to be ignored further. It wasn’t until I issued court proceeding that I got a proper response from Elliot Bayer’s solicitor Lawgistics.
This case eventually ended up in court and again for transparency I lost.
The reasons I believe I lost are firstly, I misinterpreted the law and the burden of proof, so if taking Mr Bayer to court ensure you have a full diagnostic.
Secondly, Mr Bayer conveniently told the court he didn’t receive any of my evidence, which was sent signed for. As I was unaware I would have to prove this on the day in court (and couldn’t) 99% of my evidence was dismissed. Elliot did receive my evidence and I believe he lied in court knowing I wouldn’t be given the chance to prove it was signed for. SEND EMAILS to his solicitor and Elliot, not letters if taking Bayer to court.
I urge anyone buying a car from Bayer Car Sales not to, avoid at all cost and then you won’t be subjected to my experience and the experience of many others
Below are his scores on review sites at the time of posting
Bayer car sales has an average score of 3* on trust pilot
They have 2.5* on car dealer reviews, ranked 16 of 17 in Fareham and 9042 0f 9729 in the UK (there is a reason for this)
Bayer have 3.9* on auto trader
Google he has a 4* rating
He is apparently also paying for 5* reviews and pressuring people into giving good reviews before handing over keys (in the last few months)
I urge you to read the reviews and make up your own mind before using Bayer Car Sales.
Regardless of what happened to me it is evident he engages in a pattern of behaviour when the cars he sells have faults.
As a side note, if the car didn’t have a fault at point of sale, it developed one due to the fact the garage Elliot uses (K2 Garages) didn’t do the full and proper checks on the car. If you read the reviews there are many that talk of faults, it’s K2 garage and Carl Coombs responsibility to carry out inspections.

Would you like to be sold an unroadworthy vehicle ?
Would you like that vehicle to have no mot ?
Would you like to continuously phone up and chase for an update to be told youl be called back and you wont ?
In which case Bayer car sales is the right place for you !!
I paid my deposit and was told i could collect my truck within a couple of weeks as they had to mot it and get it ready
I made Many phone calls for an update of when this date would be only to be told il be called back and wasnt .
My second to last call i was told it was at the garage having the mot and work done.
Then i was called back by the sales guy who initially delt with me and i was told it had various bits done but the mot wasnt done as they couldnt find anyone to do it til mid december so bring my trade plates and i can sort it
A quick google search i found a company 1.5 miles away who could mot it within a days notice . I ask can they fetch it over for the mot i have pre booked one ? “ We would need finance pay out prior the vehicle leaving site - we don’t have the man power to drop cars off unfortunately”
Ive now been outsourcing vehicle collections for a month so sod it il take it for the mot myself
Its collection day - of which ive had to close my workshop for the day and travel down an hour and 40 minutes, im greeted by the truck which on the face of things is reasonable condition but not £16ks worth , i take the key and have a look around - First thing i notice the engine management light is on and its slow Rev up , oh dear its in limp mode. I speak to the seller who says “oh it wasnt on before” yeh right . One of the guys plugs the diagnostic computer in which reveals Nox sensor bank 1 sensor 1 and 2 has faults ( dpf/ad blue related - nissan only sensors and cost a fortune )
Im told its probably a wire fault due to not being used and they can reset it . Sorry no clearing fault codes does not repair cars!!!
Not only do i have the mot booked for an hours time of which it will fail due to the management light on being a 2017 vehicle . I have say a 2 hour drive home which as soon as the vehicle completes a drive cycle the management light will come back on and place the vehicle in limp mode .
They try me with well we can send you the parts to repair it ?
Absolutely not !!
Would you buy a broken vehicle with no mot for £16000 ?
I tell them unfortunately i wont be buying the vehicle i need something reliable and fault free i cant afford to be letting my customers down.
A call to motonovo finance to check the application had gone no further also reveals one of my suspicions - they will not pay out on a vehicle which is unroadworthy nor has no mot , so thats absolutely outrageous i was being offered a vehicle that “ must be paid out on before releasing from the premises”
God forbid i had taken it for an mot and it failed - imagine the after sales treatment if the pre sale was possibly the biggest joke ive ever experienced .
Ive been nothing but pleasant and patient with these guys and the illusive mr Bayer who still has not returned my deposit
Motonovo customer services made aware
Trading standards and the financial ombudsman to inform next ,
DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM BAYER CAR SALES
I highly regret not checking the reviews before giving these guys the benefit of the doubt it would of saved me alot of time and money
I will leave my honest review up AS MY DEPOSIT HAS NOT BEEN RETURNED
Deception
Concealed damage on a vehicle, leading to significant cost after sale to rectify. Budget for repairs if you purchase from them.
