I've seen a few poor reviews but my experience was quite the opposite. Bayer was one of the best car purchase experiences I've had. The whole process was well managed with no pressure sales.
A thank you to Lloyd for a very professional sale.
£8,000 in Repairs
I expected to buy a reliable, high-quality vehicle from a professional dealership. Unfortunately, my experience has been completely different.
Just a few months after purchase, the vehicle developed serious faults and repeatedly failed to start. An authorised Volvo dealership kept the car for several weeks carrying out extensive diagnostics but was initially unable to identify the cause of the problem. The vehicle was returned to me, only for the same faults to return a few months later, resulting in major hybrid system repairs.
I have now spent almost £8,000 !! on repairs.
Despite independent evidence from Volvo, the dealership refused to accept any responsibility or offer any meaningful support.
My advice to anyone considering buying from this dealership is to check reviews on other independent platforms as well, rather than relying solely on Google. Based on my own observations, negative Google reviews seem to disappear very quickly, making it difficult to get a balanced picture of customers’ experiences.
The vehicles may look immaculate in the photos, but appearances can be very misleading. My experience after the purchase was completely different from the image presented online.
Everything I have written is supported by Volvo diagnostic reports and repair invoices, which I am happy to share with anyone interested.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this dealership.

Got conned into paying a deposit with the promise the car would be ready in 2 days. Three weeks later and no car!! Elliot the manager wouldn’t call back or email back.
Constant promises of call backs, no update on the car, nightmare!!
Only plus side was that Lloyd communicated better and refunded my deposit but customer service completely put me off, they don’t care.

Fantastic experience at Bayer
Fantastic experience at Bayer, turned up without an appointment. Was show around the car I was interested in and also made an effort to show me around the show room. Lloyd was great and provided all the info I needed. I then showed up to see the car again and was left to it with 0 pressure. Didn’t end up buying the car but have nothing but good things to say about the lads there!

What a shame, I paid £1000 deposit on a car. I then had a change of heart regarding the purchase after only 5 days, before even seeing the car. I appericate its frustrating when people change there mind I was sorry to cancel. However these things happen. The company refused to refund my deposit. Please be careful with this company. Disappointing really as i hoped I would be treated better.
Just don't be pushed into handing over a money in advance poor practice from this company.
Absolute cowboys
ABSOLUTE COWBOYS!! Avoid at all costs. Should be zero stars!
I wish I'd paid more attention to the negative reviews before purchasing my Range Rover SVR. Unfortunately, everything people warned about turned out to be true.
From the outset, I was repeatedly assured that the vehicle would be fully prepared and all issues identified before collection would be rectified (by both Shaun the salesman and Elliot the owner) The dealership was given three weeks to address these concerns, yet five days after the agreed collection date the work still had not been completed. Despite this, I was continually told the vehicle was ready, the repairs had been done, or would be completed imminently. None of these assurances proved accurate.
The reality appears to be that faults were simply cleared rather than properly diagnosed and repaired.
The level of incompetence throughout the collection process was staggering. After finally arranging a collection date, I was already two hours into my journey when I received a call telling me the vehicle was not ready and was actually at an independent garage and I’d need to collect another day! This was despite me having confirmed the previous day that everything was complete and ready for collection.
I was then told to go and get lunch or a coffee while they sorted things out. Two hours later I returned only to discover the vehicle wasn't even on site. What followed was another four-hour wait while staff appeared unable to explain where the vehicle was, what work had been carried out, or when it would be available.
Throughout the day I watched staff repeatedly taking the vehicle out, claiming it was for additional work, preparation and to put petrol in (4 miles in the tank when I eventually drove it away, but waited so long I was too tired to argue!). Given the faults that have subsequently appeared, it now seems far more likely that diagnostic faults were simply being cleared rather than underlying issues being fixed.
Since purchase, the vehicle has suffered numerous faults including:• Intelligent Emergency Braking (IEB) warnings and failures.• Screens randomly switching off.• Deployable side steps operating intermittently.• Ongoing electrical faults that appear and disappear without explanation.
To make matters worse, I paid extra for a premium independent pre-purchase inspection. The vehicle had clearly been prepared in a way that prevented many of these issues from being identified at the time.
The warranty provided has been equally disappointing and, in my experience, offers zero meaningful protection when problems arise.
The sales staff are friendly enough when taking your money, but once the deal is done the promises, communication and customer service disappear. This dealership talks a good game, but my experience was one of delays, excuses, misinformation and unresolved faults.
Buying a Range Rover SVR should have been an exciting experience. Instead, it became a frustrating, time-consuming and expensive lesson.
I would not buy another vehicle from this dealership and would strongly recommend that anyone considering doing so reads the negative reviews very carefully before parting with their money.
Great Experience at Bayer Car Sales
I want to thank Bayer Car Sales for their outstanding professionalism. A special thank you to Lloyd, who made the entire process smooth, fast, and stress‑free from start to finish. His communication, honesty, and efficiency were exceptional.
The vehicles at Bayer Car Sales are in great condition, exactly as described, and the whole team is brilliant, friendly, helpful, and genuinely committed to good customer service.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable car and a trustworthy dealership.
Dissappointing - be VERY careful.
I purchased a Range Rover from Bayer Motors and was very dissappointed in the service provided. Verbal understandings were reneged on, (a promised service became an oil and filter change), the vehicle was supplied with aircon not working (might have been picked up with a more detailed service) and the warranty commitments are unclear. I believe that the warranty page to their website is misleading. The Autoprotect warranty was not mentioned at any time during my conversations with Shaun, nor has any written warranty agreement been provided. The stock list is very attractive and if you are fortunate in the vehicle you buy, I am sure you will be very pleased. If the vehicle has issues then I found that Bayer Cars turn a deaf ear. Not the experience I have had before from prestige pre-owned vehicle dealers and I cannot recommend them as a company. The Google reviews are glowing, however I wish I had looked here before commiting to buy.
Avoid out side the area
If you live outside the area avoid any dealings with this company, Great first contact but after that they didn't help in the best way for the customer at all but after weeks of emails I stopped emailing the dealer to only deal with Motonovo, thanks to the fabulous people at Motonovo finance I got my expenses back. I would not recommend or use this dealer again.
Lloyd amazing car salesman! Top quality cars!!
My name is Alex and I am so happy with the costumer service and experience of Lloyd which facilitated my purchase of a vehicle. From the time we arrived at the garage Lloyd was very helpful with our enquiries about the car, finances, warranty. We can see parked at this garage at least 80 amazing cars in very good condition. All in all in two hours we see the car we made the paperwork and we left with the car.
Smooth, pleasant and fast thanks to Lloyd and quality of the cars.
Thank you!!!
One star as 0 stars isn’t an option
One star as 0 stars isn’t an option. Once the 500 pounds was taken the interest and communication was non existent. Faults on car were never fixed and Bayer originally said car would be ready in 2 days time. A week later no car and still stuck in the infamous k2 garage. Alarm bells were ringing a few days after we paid deposit when we enquired where the charging lead was and the question was ignored meaning we needed to go in to the place to chase and we got eagerly pushed out with a muttering of there is probably one laying around somewhere.
We then saw the reviews mostly all were a mirror of exactly our experience and when the car was 100 percent going to be ready third time lucky - guess what it hadn’t moved from the same spot in the garage. We have made it very clear that they broke the contract by not supplying us with the car and we are very much entitled to our money to be fully reimbursed. Of course and much like most of the other reviews no response has been received and small claims will be the way to go. Terrible terrible and we came off lightly compared to others. Absolute chancers who seemingly make a lot of money from people by taking their money with no intention of supplying a roadworthy car. Don’t believe what I’m saying ? Check the many many other reviews.
Goodluck to anyone who has the misfortune of dealing with anyone from Bayer. Elliot is the elusive guy who is even harder to track down than Shaun who insists you are not buying from Bayer but from him !!!
Even more of a mystery and I am very happy to see what Portsmouth news feels about a local company fleecing people
£1,000 reservation fee kept after we found undisclosed damage and missing services.
We paid Bayer a £1,000 reservation fee on a 2021 Ford Transit Custom in April 2026. Perhaps not a lot of money for some, but a lot of money for us, especially right now, and we paid it in good faith based on what we'd been told in the showroom and what was written in the advert.
The advert described the van as having one owner from new and "offering excellent provenance," and the dealership as preferring to be "completely transparent." We took both at face value, the rookie error we'll know not to make again.
After we got home, we ran an independent carVertical provenance report and went through the Ford service invoices we'd been given properly. Three things stood out, and none of them had been mentioned to us at the dealership:
1. carVertical showed the van had a damage assessment recorded in November 2023, in the UK, on the front bumper and lighting, with a past repair cost estimate of £1,501–£3,000. There were no repair invoices to match this in the paperwork, and nothing had been said about it before we paid.
2. The Ford invoices showed the 50,000-mile service was done at 75,807 miles. That's around 25,800 miles overdue against Ford's own published service schedule and there was a 45,000-mile gap between the first and second services on what is a wet belt engine. Anyone familiar with the 2.0 EcoBlue will know how significant that is.
3. Two invoices dated eleven months apart both record the same odometer reading: 75,807. The van wasn't driven for almost a year, and we were given no paperwork covering that period which also overlaps with the November 2023 damage event.
Once we'd seen all this, we decided the van wasn't for us and asked for our deposit back. They refused, and have kept the £1,000.
We would honestly have considered a different vehicle from them, we weren't fundamentally against the dealership at this point. But after how they handled this and how we felt we were treated afterwards, I wouldn't ever consider them again.
If you're thinking of buying here, please do your own checks first. Things we wish we'd done:
- Don't pay by bank transfer use a card or something with recourse.
- Run your own provenance check (carVertical / HPI) BEFORE paying any deposit, not after.
- Get anything you're told about the van's history or condition in writing.
Our advice is to proceed with extreme caution.
Great dealership with many vehicles to…

Purchased from Lloyd who was helpful and knowledgeable. No hard sell and described the vehicle well. I hesitated to review straight away but car is great and still makes me smile 😃
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!
I came across Bayer Car Sales on the Car Guru website, A Jaguar F Pace 2lt Petrol Portfolio was being advertised.
I liked the car so decided to go and look at it after talking to Shaun who told me it was in tip top condition, when I got there things went smoothly and I purchased the car on finance. On the way home driving from Portsmouth to Southend On Sea Essex the engine light came on!! I was almost home so I called Bayer Car Sales straight away, they said they only use their garage so I had to bring it back to Portsmouth, I was given details of K2 Garage Services, when I rang I was told i would have to take the car for a diagnostic check, this cost me £60! The diagnostics showed a long list of things but after sending photos of the report it was decided that the problem was the Actuators and they would order the part but the soonest they could fit it in was in 4 weeks, I was told id be ok driving the car in the meantime, even though they had no idea what was really wrong with it.
I took the car to K2 Garage Services and left the car with them for a week so they had time to "Test It" after a week i returned to collect it, I was told they had driven the car but couldn't be certain that the light would stay off, he said "if it comes back on pop it back" Never mind i was paying for petrol for 2 cars to take it 110 miles each way!
After having the car back it was just a week until the engine light came on again!!! At this point I was very worried about the car due to the long list of errors on the diagnostic check, I decided to ask for a replacement car, I was also having issues with the center console screen flickering, id lost all confidence in it.
I then spoke to Lloyd at Bayer Car Sales who is very good at avoiding phone calls, he's always "with a customer" or "Doing a Handover" he never called me back and I had to refuse to get off the phone saying I was happy to hold until he was free in order to speak to him. Then there was the constant waiting for Elliott the "Boss" he's never in before 2pm or Lloyd "forgot to speak to him" basically every delaying tactic possible.
Eventually I was told i could come and exchange the car, the new car was a Jaguar F Pace 2lt petrol R Sport it was more expensive but as im disabled this was the type of car I needed, big enough for my wheelchair and easier to get in and out of. The new car seemed good and I thought my troubles were over But.... on the way home the ABS stopped working showing alarms and stating not to drive!!! I sent Lloyd a video showing this on the dashboard, he said I could bring it back to K2 Garage Services, but as they didn't fix the last car and id have the costs of petrol for 2 cars going back and forth again i asked if I could get it fixed and they cover the costs as its under warranty! He agreed so I got Diagnostic Checks done it showed a faulty sensor on front nearside wheel, I paid £42.24 for this with Halfords who also got the part from Jaguar, they did the work in a day and with my partners discount it only cost £183.84 .
I sent Lloyd at Bayer Car Sales the invoice and requested the refund, this took 5 days of repeated calls, chasing Lloyd and being told they were only going to give me a "Contribution" at this point with all the stress id dealt with from 24th Jan until 16th April my partner rang and firmly told them they were taking advantage of me and that under warranty they had to refund me they finally paid the £183.84, im still down by £100 for 2 Diagnostic tests!! But im just glad to be done with them hopefully.
What was meant to be an enjoyable time buying a new dream car, it was full of stress Bayer Car Sales are happy to talk to you until they have there money, then it's constant chasing and being ignored, terrible customer service, if you have to deal with this Garage make sure you get the car independently tested, they can not be trusted. Also the first car was put up for sale again shortly after id exchanged it, i bet they have just turned the light off and passing on to the next person, I cant see they've done all the work required for it.
You've been warned.
AVOID
Very long story but you should avoid this company at all costs. Put a deposit down in November for a Porche Macan. After a test drive if became clear that it needed repairs done to it. It turns out it needed new engine pistons (massive job). After waiting 3.5 MONTHS for the repairs to be done, and being lied to each week by both the sales team and the garage, we eventually couldn’t afford to wait any longer. So we pulled out of the sale in March 2026 and requested our deposit back (as per our consumer rights) obviously because they couldn’t provide us with a working vehicle. Now they’re ignoring these requests and we’re about to start proceedings with the small claims court. If you have to work with these guys USE A REPUTABLE PRE PURCHASE INSPECTION COMPANY, or AVOID COMPLETELY
Range Rover evoque
Range Rover evoque told me the tax was cheap and it cost me 700 for the year no petrol in it when I picked it up 3 years of missing of service the history then I took the charger lead back faulty then all the trouble stared first the Ev stoped working then new battery two new tyres then I’ve spent more then 4000 pound sorted the car out I payed 22,000 it’s disgusting the warranty was rubbish only covers for 300 pounds never again would I even step foot in this garbage garage
AVOID AVOID!
Phoned up and emailed with a genuine interest in an Audi S5 being advertised. When I asked about the service history and timing chain as this was a higher mileage example the guys tone instantly changed. "I'll have to get back to you with that" was the response I got before the phone cut off. There was never a call back or response to my email.
Avoid this place at all costs unless you want to get fleeced. Taken my money elsewhere
Absolutely appalling AVOID at any cost
Absolutely appalling AVOID at any cost. I bought a car from Bayer Car Sales Ltd and informed them of faults the very next day. They ignored me until I went back to the dealership and tried to return the car. They wouldn’t accept it so wasted another 150 mile journey. I emailed back and forth and they have fraudulently fixed the some of the issues and said it was not broken at time of sale. I have camera footage and app data from the car showing them changing parts and test driving the car. I am currently in the process of taking them to court to get my money back plus compensation. They are literally the nicest people until you hand your money over. They won’t take cards so you can’t claim it back. Avoid avoid avoid.
Wish I had seen the reviews before I…
Wish I had seen the reviews before I bought my car. Had issues the moment I drove away on the motor way. Of course Bayer ignored emails for a month then when I started sending recoded post letter they all of a sudden started replying. Crooks! Now they want me to send my car 160 miles to there crooked designated garage for repair. Avoid!
