It was a great experience for me

It was a great experience for me, I met so many amazing people and learnt a lot and the venue was amazing! I had a lot of fun and everyday was so different from the previous one, I wished the information was better organized before each event and I would rather having the commute included in the price and not having all the stress before hand but the experience was overall great!

Doing angloville was one of the best decisions of my life! It was such an amazing experience with extremely lovely people, our coordinators Ellie and Louis were great and made me feel so comfortable on my first week! I made some amazing friends on the programme and particularly enjoyed the speaking sessions with the polish participants who were eager to learn and it was so rewarding to see their confidence grow throughout the week! 100% Recommend

I did a week in Poland with the Children's program. I had so much fun. The hours were certainly long, but I arrived not expecting to be on a leisuring vacation. We were given breaks every day, and I napped every day during my break. I did share a room, but I had a positive experience, as the volunteer who shared a room with me was from a different culture with different life experiences and that was really cool.

The kids were all really nice. Not all the kids were perfectly behaved nor always wanted to speak in English, but the program immediately addressed this. The volunteers were of different races and I never once noticed any racism during the week I volunteered.

I would 100% recommend this experience. I wasn't paid in cash and already had a TEFL, but the memories I left with were great and it was a great addition to a resume/CV. If my lifestyle was different I would certainly do this program repeatedly.

Don't believe the review bombers who had one bad experience. This program is what you make it!

Angloville is a exploitative company

Angloville is a deeply exploitative company that preys on the goodwill of volunteers. I witnessed racism, verbal abuse, and shocking behavior from Polish staff, with zero accountability. Volunteers are overworked, disrespected, and forced to cover their own flights, transportation, even towels—just to serve a program where teens gain nothing educationally. These so-called “Eurotrips” are a scam: poorly managed, unsafe, and completely devoid of the English-learning mission they advertise. This is not cultural exchange—it’s free labor masked as volunteering. Avoid at all costs. I will take legal actions on this company and against their behavior.

Update : So, I’m only raising my concern now—how convenient, right? On 20/08/2024, I received an email from Vincent and the AngloTEAM offering me a 30-hour TEFL Pro specialization module called “Teaching Young Learners,” like some certificate is going to fix the money wasted, the time lost, the blatant racism, and the horrible treatment I endured from the Polish staff.

Antwort von Angloville

We regret to read that this is how you feel about your experience with Angloville in 2024. We take such allegations very seriously. However, we note that you attended a programme last year, and we are surprised that you are only raising these concerns with us now.

Regarding the points raised:

1) All volunteers are informed of the programme format, inclusions, and exclusions before they confirm participation, as per our Terms & Conditions, which are agreed to in writing.

2) Transport, flights, and certain personal items are not covered by Angloville, and this is made clear during the application process, the phone interview and all documents and guide you have received.

3) All our programmes are monitored and accredited by the Polish Ministry of Education. Our programmes are designed to provide intensive English-language immersion for our local participants, offering over 70 hours of speaking practice and interactive activities. Feedback from both participants and mentors consistently confirms the educational value.

UPDATE: We are sorry that our gesture did not fully meet your expectations. While you felt the TEFL Pro specialisation module “Teaching Young Learners” could not compensate for the difficulties you experienced, our intention was to turn this situation into an opportunity – offering you a qualification that strengthens your teaching profile and enriches your professional journey. As you did not reject the offer, we hope you may still find value in it as you pursue your path as an educator.

Angloville is great

I loved angloville and would definitely go back. There are so many pluses to doing this programme. I went as an ESL mentor which is a little different from an IP. I had a few more responsibilities and for this you are paid.
I had a wonderful time and gained experience working with children. We played a lot of fun games and at night there was different group activities. My favourite is the fashion show.
It can be a lot of work some days but the coordinators try their best to accommodate you and make sure everyone gets time off.
There are some rules, which make sense seeing as it involves kids who can be as young as 5/6. The rules I can remember are: no drinking during the programme duration, no getting social media details from any of the kids, no giving the kids food you have brought and no going to the kids rooms or having them come to your room. All of these rules I thought were reasonable. They make sense.
Something to keep in mind is that the locations can be in the middle of nowhere, so if you are a picky eater maybe bring some snack as there is no guarantee of shops nearby.
The other participants can become your close friends. Two of my fellow participants from my programmes are still close and meet up whenever and wherever we can.
This is not for everyone so consider it carefully before applying. Lots of people drop out which always impacts the programme for everyone.
I did three weeks in Poland and two weeks in Malta. Loved them all.
Thank you Angloville!

It is wonderful that working as an ESL mentor gave you the chance to take on more responsibility, gain experience with children, and enjoy so many fun activities, from games to your favourite fashion show. We appreciate you recognising the coordinators’ efforts to ensure everyone has time to rest and that the rules in place are there to keep the kids safe.

Your tips about the remote locations and snacks are very helpful for future participants. We are delighted that you made close friends and enjoyed all five weeks across Poland and Malta.

Thank you for being such a valued part of the Angloville community and we hope to see you again soon.

The Angloville Poland Adult Mentoring…

The Angloville Poland Adult Mentoring Camp is an experience i would thoroughly recommend for anyone who loves travelling and meeting new people. I've travelled a lot but not to Poland. The people were great, mentors, staff and the Polish participants.

The conversation sessions weren't demanding, as there were handouts provided and the participants were very enthusiastic.

The schedule was divided into classes, games and outdoor activities, with plenty of rest breaks. The staff at Angloville and the hotel were very helpful and professional.

As a teacher, I felt that we could have pushed some of the advanced students a little more. There was a big gap between the highest and lowest level. However, this is 'fine tuning' and overall the program, I felt, got the balance right between work and fun.

At the end we all exchanged phone numbers and some people even met up in Warsaw separately. For me, that was the measure of how well we all got on. I would happily do another Angloville program.

A excellent opportunity to meet Polish people

The opportunity to meet and become friends with the wonderful Polish participants. I have been on many programs and they have always been wonderful. I do take exception to the negative feedback given by the so called Doctor. I was on that program, he was negative and insulting. A lady did get a mosquito bite and her eye was swollen. But the hotel was not bug infested. The food was adequate as were the rooms. His negativity was annoying and not helpful to participants or volunteers.

Positive experience in a beautiful country.

I enjoyed my time in the programme in Poland. The students and volunteers were a friendly, mixed group and we got along well. I think the days are too long for the students. The study day should finish at dinner time. As volunteers,we had some down time but the Polish people had none. It would have been nice to have an outing built into the programme. This could still be a learning opportunity but would serve to break the routine and slight sense of cabin fever! The hotel was lovely and the food excellent.
Angloville staff were friendly and helpful.
Overall, I really enjoyed the experience but the hours are long and the sessions a little, repetitious.

Free Labor, Stolen Time & the Illusion of Benefits

I participated in 2 of 3 weeks of the adult programs before being unceremoniously black listed for reasons that still were not made clear to me.
From what I was told and understood, the volunteers and allegedly, the participants made complaints. None of which was directly discussed to with me. Other volunteers seemed to know a whole lot more than I did about the 'allegations'.
When I contested their decision, that seems to have been a unilateral decision by one person, I was met with no communication from them. Weeks later after contacting my recruiter, he said that he was told that I was black listed but he didn't know why. They refused to refund me and I had to contest it with Paypal, sending it into the Resolution center for them to take over the negotiations. Angloville claimed that contacted me through email and phone to discuss the situation. I had to prove to Paypal that no call was ever received and no email was sent despite them claiming they did and I did not qualify for a refund because I breached their policies. In the end, Paypal sided me, and refunded me in full. I do not believe they would have done that had the company shown proof of their claims as I did. I put in extra effort in their program to make sure the participants, the ones who pay to attend, got the most value out of the program. I even hosted an activity that everyone seemed to enjoy to introduce a fun way of learning idioms. I was the only volunteer to do so. I brought books and games to help, going above and beyond. I believe that because some of the volunteers did not like me was the reason. I do not regret doing the program, but I also strongly believe participants are not getting the benefits for which they pay. Volunteers essentially work 10-12 hour days. Most volunteers are travellers who use the program as a way to save dollars for a week since food and accommodation are included. They do not truly care whether participants truly learn and grow. I've heard people say things like this. A majority of participants are working professionals such as lawyers, doctors, CEOs, engineers, and the like. They come to improve English for the workplace. They need business English. Instead of doing photo challenges, they should be practicing things like interviewing skills, corporate email writing and the like. Instead, it's random conversations with different people who, for the most part, aren't qualified to teach anything, much less specifically business English. I've heard participants say they get very confused when they're being told different things because we, the volunteers, come from different parts of the world. It's just one big meetup that gives a false sense of growth. There's a big focus on being "nice" & "friendships". Participants are not paying to make friends, they're paying to improve their linguistic skills, more often than not, for work. They do not get that.
Volunteers share rooms. Although food is provided, there isn't any real choice. Venues are generally secluded so there's no just running to the store. Your time is not your own for the week. Volunteers are encouraged to participate under the umbrella of "free" vacation. But it's not really a vacation when you're pretty much stuck at a location that's often difficult to just leave, and all you do is talk about random things 10-12 hours a day with people you sometimes have nothing in common with.
What' s more, volunteers are required to write a whole report for their "mentee" at the end of the week. Volunteers themselves get no guidance as to how to better help the participants as far as what works, what doesn't, how the company feel it's best to guide conversations; nothing. There is also no performance feedback to understand your strengths and weaknesses so far as the requirements of the position. There are no performance metrics. They don't care so long as you're palatable to the majority.
I don't think it's possible to put 20 something adult strangers in a space for a week and expect everyone to like each other and get along. That's the false sense of "friendship" that pushed. Less in this program that another I've done in Germany but still. Participants would get more out such programs is they were properly tailored to their actual needs. But for that, they would have to hire and pay instructors which would cut deep into their bottom line. This company has shown me they care little for those who actually make the programs most possible, the volunteers.
I was less than pleased with how things turned out, true. However I did find enjoyment in helping others gaining a little more confidence and feeling better about their English skills because I genuinely care. Language teaching/coaching is my passion.
All that being said, I would not recommend especially if you're someone qualified to teach.

Dear Adrian Kelly,

We would like to take a moment to clarify the situation and provide some context regarding the decision made during the Chojnik programme.

You were withdrawn from the programme following repeated and serious accusations and threats made against fellow participants, which created a challenging and unsafe atmosphere for the group. Your continued public accusations and outbursts raised significant concerns among our staff regarding the safety and well-being of participants, students, and team members

This decision was not taken lightly and was based on multiple accounts from those directly involved. All incidents have been documented in the programme log.

We understand from our conversations that you may have experienced a difficult and traumatic past. While Angloville is a cultural and social programme, it can also be mentally and emotionally demanding. This is why, during the interview stage, we ask all applicants whether they are currently managing any physical or mental health conditions, to ensure the programme is a good fit and does not risk anyone’s well-being.

Throughout the programme, our team made several efforts to accommodate your needs and support your comfort, while also maintaining the safety of the wider group. Despite our best intentions, the programme environment may not have been the most suitable place for you at this time.

The decision to end your participation was communicated to you with sensitivity, and we chose not to publicly detail the situation out of respect for your privacy and dignity. We regret that our efforts to make this transition as smooth and discreet as possible may not have been fully recognised.

Please understand that we cannot allow a return to future programmes at this stage. Our primary responsibility is to ensure a safe and positive experience for all participants, staff, and students.

We sincerely wish you all the best moving forward and hope you find opportunities better aligned with your personal journey.

Felt Exploited – Not Worth a TEFL

I want to share my honest experience with Angloville as an International Participant (IP). The program was significantly more demanding than I expected, with very long days—often around 12 hours—and minimal free time. Although it’s advertised as a cultural exchange, the workload felt comparable to that of a full-time teacher, despite being an unpaid volunteer. Additionally, there was no support for visa costs.

Before joining, I specifically asked my recruiter about the possibility of paid work and was told it wasn’t an option. However, during the program, I met other participants doing the same IP role who were receiving payment. This inconsistency was disappointing and left me feeling misled.

The structure of the program could benefit from serious revision. While the coordinators were kind and the locations were fine, the experience overall was exhausting and left me feeling undervalued. Volunteers should not be expected to work such intense schedules without proper compensation or sufficient rest.

I also had to leave the scheduled programs earlier than planned, and was informed that I would lose my full €149 deposit. It’s difficult to understand why unpaid volunteers are penalised in this way, especially given the level of commitment already required.

The TEFL certificate offered is not worth completing 120 hours on top of three weeks of unpaid work—especially when there are better programs that offer paid positions, or you could simply pay for the course yourself and earn money through paid teaching work elsewhere.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend Angloville.

Antwort von Angloville

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience with Angloville did not meet your expectations. Please allow us to clarify a few important points:

Angloville is not a traditional teaching job, but a cultural exchange programme, clearly described on our website and in all official communications. The goal is to provide a unique English immersion environment for local students, and over the years, thousands of international participants have appreciated and understood the spirit of this exchange.

While days can indeed be active, as with most immersive experiences, our activities (conversation sessions, games, workshops, tours) are designed to be conversational, engaging, and mutually enriching. Participants are never required to deliver formal lessons or perform administrative duties. Daily breaks are scheduled (1.5 hours in the afternoon, meals, entertainment time, etc.), and our coordinators are trained to ensure all participants wellbeing.

Regarding compensation: Angloville operates a sponsorship model. In exchange for volunteering, participants receive full board, accommodation, local transport, excursions, and access to an accredited TEFL course (worth €399). The only payment requested is a refundable security deposit, which confirms your attendance. As stated in our terms and conditions, and reiterated during the interview, in the documents you received, and in your training, the deposit is refunded upon successful completion of the programme. If a participant cancels or leaves early, the deposit is forfeited.

As for paid roles, such as ESL mentors or coordinators: these are separate staff positions with specific recruitment criteria, including prior Angloville experience and training. We are sorry if your profile was not eligible for these roles. Since your review is anonymous, we are unable to check your exact case in our system.

Finally, the TEFL course included with Angloville is internationally accredited and has helped many past participants begin successful teaching careers.

We appreciate all constructive feedback and continuously strive to improve. We sincerely wish you all the best on your teaching journey.
The Angloville Team
