not recommended

I would not recommend to use Amigo Autos at all.

You will not get all of your deposit back.

You will never get through to customer service and will be charged 55 pence per minute to hang on the phone for eternity.

First of all pushy sales guys convincing me I have to take additional insurance on top of that one I already had from Doyouspain.com. We have returned the car with some damages to it, for which I have paid excess of 750 euros and 60 euros admin cost - which is genuine as car indeed had some damage to it. So paid it on the day of return, gentleman that was dealing with us (nice Romanian guy, don't remember the name) said all of deposit will be returned as we returned the car day early, with full tank of petrol.
Unfortunately out of 147 euros deposit, only 70 have been repaid into my credit card account. There is no customer service from Amigo Autos at all, as they don't reply to emails,(one form filled on the website, then sent separate email)- no reply for over a week now. When trying to phone the customer service number , you wait, there is no automated message to say how much longer you will have to wait, have waited over 10 minutes, which cost me additional 5 pounds, as the will bill you 55 pence per minute.

Also i need damage report that wasn't given to me, to claim for excess i paid with insurance i had, however can't get through to them

Absolute disgrace, i never leave bad reviews, but just hoping they will reply to my review with some details on why i haven't been repaid my deposit.

Good car at a great price

I was very dubious when I read the reviews re Amigo autos but I was pleasantly surprised by the entire procedure. Picked up at Malaga airport by a very pleasant driver and taken to the collection office. Smooth procedure at the office. I had to put a deposit on my debit card which was refunded two days after the rental ended. Very good car at an excellent price.

Rogues!!

With regards to last post if it’s a full/empty management handling fee and I return the car full please enlighten me on what handling you had to do to justify €29 just proves what rogues you are and by the looks of your ratings on here I am certainly not the only disgruntled customer. I also find it disgusting that you charged me an extra £100 out of hours fees. Like I said it will be your loss, I travel out to Majorca on a regular basis and will certainly not use you again and hope my comments on here lose you more business as you are a disgrace. It would have worked out a lot cheaper to go with a more reputable company but I am glad I had this experience as I will share it with all my colleagues!!! Perhaps if you had replied to my email then you might have saved this poor review!!

Took 2 payments, won’t respond to emails

Do not use this company.

Poor service from beginning to end. They have taken two payments for my booking. I have emailed 4 times using 2 different email addresses to sort out their error and I have had no reply. Yesterday I rang and spoke to someone in their reservation office (‘Sandra’) who assured me I would get a response and resolution yesterday, I still have not had either.

Their customer service is non-existent. I used them 18mths ago and had no problems but clearly something has changed significantly. As it stands I have paid twice for a car hire and I have no idea if I will get anything.

I strongly recommend you choose another hire company.

Re-branded OK! Car Rentals. FRAUD AVOID

DO NOT BOOK car hire from Amigo Autos / OK! Rent a car as it has now been rebranded.

On arrival this company is not in the terminal. They are supposed to have a representative to meet you in arrivals but we could not find one, after asking 3 different individuals for help we were directed to a bus stop, where there was no signage to indicate the company would pick up. It must have taken us an hour to get to the car in totality. Good job we were not in a rush!

When you get to the rental place 10 mins drive away, you are offered their insurance. We were quoted €240 - this is twice the amount of our annual car insurance at home which covers a much more expensive car (we hired a fiat 500!). We declined - our home car insurance covers us to drive other cars.

With regards to ‘checking in’, we were simply given a form with a list of damage and told to take photos of the car ourselves. No one accompanies you to do this as is normal with other car hire companies.

We cross referenced the list and took photos of what was listed. What we did NOT realise is we were supposed to carry out this task meticulously of every aspect of the car where no damage was listed.... more on that later.

On returning, the woman highlighted two scratches on the two front wheel rims and a small tear in the tyre on the drivers side. Fortunately one of my photos capturing the pre-mentioned damage highlighted these scratches were already on one wheel, but because I had no picture of the other side, I was told I’d have to pay €460 for the repair!

Two things:
1. I asked to see the car company’s before pictures (they have an iPad with photos on, but the woman, whose name is Beshuiz Rodriguez (first name spelling may be off) refused to show me the company’s photos. She insisted that the fact it wasn’t listed on the piece of paper was fact. Clearly not the case on the other wheel though as our pictures flagged!
2. How can they calculate €460 for such minor damage. It’s fraudulent and not at all indicative of how much this would cost to repair. You have an unqualified clipboard warrior making these assessments and saying there is no recourse for you.

We now face a lengthy appeal process when we get back home from holiday. I shall we reaching out to Expedia and directing them to other people’s awful experiences in the hope they might remove them from the site. Company’s like this have no right to remain in business and should be investigated by whatever consumer watchdog they fall under in their home jurisdictions.

UPDATE: Further to the response from AA below, please note the confirmation from Expedia says a representative meets you in the terminal - this is not the case. They can claim they put a map on there all they want, but the car park is 1 hour plus walk away down a dual carriageway, so it's not much good if they don't tell you where to find the shuttle bus is it? We have contacted them in writing last weekend with our complaint, as further inspection of our photos show their so called schedule of damage was not comprehensive and this is the basis they've charged us €460 on. No response from them as yet (they're quick to refute claims on here though arent they?!) and yet another 1star review has been submitted in the meantime I see! They are sharks, just avoid them. And everyone please encourage Expedia et all to remove them from selling this awful company to others!

In order to pick up a car it is compulsory to block a deposit on a valid credit card or, as an alternative, purchase our Super cover. Our staff will always inspect the car after each use and will mark the damages on the check-out sheet, however, we always ask customers to double check it before leaving our facilities. This way both parties are aware of the existing damages before departing.

On return, if our agents find damages that were not marked, they proceed to investigate and, if it's considered that they occurred during the rental period, the customer will be charged . We always recommend our clients to take out our Super cover for their own safe and tranquillity on the road, but they're completely free to decide about it.

Excellent car hire Ibiza

Used Amigos Autos who out source with Okay Car Rental in Ibiza. Price was cheap for a new 4x4 hybrid. Picked up near the airport and even easier when returning. Nice and simple collection bus you do have to check for damage and petrol yourself then get it signed off. On return very easy and polite. No hidden extras, no additional charges, deposit returned same day. I hired excess cover before going as its always expensive at the hire places. I was worried about the negative reviews but it was awesome. 👍

Hired car on 13/7/19 from Malaga, paid in full when booked In February.
Tried email and phone call however never received €167.18 refund as yet.
Poor service, will never use again

Rude!

Extremely unhelpful and rude customer service - prior damages to car were not communicated to drop-off staff. Shuttle bus drivers constantly on their phones.

Scammers! Watch out- you won’t get your money back

We had very bad experience with this rental car company. A lot of unprofessional personnel, who do simply lie to you (people from who you first rent a car and customer service- which do simply nothing).
Starting our holidays firstly, we had to wait ages on the airport for bus to come and pick us up to the place where we could get our car. Very bad organization- people were almost fighting to get into the bus each time. Too less buses, too many people- no organization.
Furthermore, you reach to the rental place and being “informed about additional costs” like fuel changes, which should be refunded right away, once the car is returned with full tank (it is absurd that they actually take your money instead of blocking). They try to scare you and get extra insurance with them even if you have full coverage from broker- they do say to you that this insurance is nothing and you won’t be covered at all and all cost would be on you.
So..We rented a car in June 23-06 until 02-07 which is quite time ago.We had paid 123 euro for the fuel , we were informed that once we rerun the car with full tank we will receive our 95 EUR back - the other 29 will not be refunded- we were not happy about it at all but now we even more disappointed and angry that we haven’t received our money back. Still after many emails to them or phone calls to customer service (which are not cheap!) and after their promises that our money is have been already refunded - they were promising to send us proof which unfortunately until today didn’t happen ! No money on my account,no email with proof of refund, again waisted money on a call with useless customer service.
Now it is not even about this 95 EUR anymore but about end this scam company. What Amigos is doing is against the law and any policies, therefore we won’t leave this case unsolved and for sure Amigos will face consequences on their scam actions.

Ps. Answer to answer from amigos: I advise you should reread them yourself and teach your staff on how to treat customers.

DONT RENT WITH THEM

DONT RENT WITH THEM : SCAMMERS!!!!!!

Rented in june for 10 days ... called 5 times ,5 emails and always the same we did this we gone send a proof but the never do ! The charge you fuel cost witch they dont block on the visa card but you have to pay separately so the can steal it feom you ! Today again called with ther costumer service and she told us she will sent us a proof of payment back to us ... but like expected nothing ... saying it takes a couple of days .....3 weeks and still nothing. Do t rent out here they thiefs its just criminal.

Don't use them. They keep your deposit

We collected our rental car from Alicante airport on 21/6/19.
A €1200 colllision damage deposit was blocked on my credit card but cancelled when the car was returned in perfect condition.
They took €100 fuel deposit and €20 refuelling charge and the car had a full tank when collected.
We returned the car 28/6/19 WITH A FULL TANK and was told the €100 fuel deposit would be refunded to my card. IT HAS NOT.
Several phone calls to the office and still there's no proof been sent (as promised) of the refund they say they've made. Because it hasn't.
NO emails have been responded to. Terrible service, really tricky company. We certainly won't use or recommend again

We finally got a refund on 20/8/19. This was 7 WEEKS after they said it had been issued. I had to involve my credit card company in the dispute and make more phone calls to Spain before they found that, actually, they" hadn't issued it! "
The €20 refuelling fee ended up as €30 which with the movement in exchange rates is around £30. Plus I'm sure my credit card company will be charging me for 2months credit!
Still, we got something back - but I've no confidence in this company and won't use them again.

Hired a car from them in July 2019 for a week.
The car was only 3/4 full of fuel when we received it. This was highlighted to them via email on the day of uplift, along with a picture.
When we returned we filled it to the same level and again explained the reason why. The person taking receipt of the car said that everything would be fine but they still charged me to fill the tank to the top. I have so far sent several emails to their customer services department and each one has been ignored.
Also make sure you know your pin for your credit card. I do not know mine and have never been asked for it. Their process requires you to input this. Because I didn't and they would not shift on this matter the only way we could take receipt of the car was to purchase the full comp cover for a week. Complete chancers!

I would avoid -Alicante

I would avoid. I had a a good experience when collecting the car in Alicante. They didn’t force me to buy any extras which I was pleased about. I returned the car and all was fine, the deposit was unblocked from my visa and I was told the fuel would be refunded however this has NOT happened. It was almost a full tank I returned and I have received not a single penny back for it. No one is willing to help resolve the issue either!

CON ARTISTS AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

I recently had a rental through your company in Alicante, Spain. The rental was from June 17 to July 16, 2019. The vehicle rental was with Auto Amigos, when we picked up we had no issue the person inspected the vehicle prior to giving me the car and found nothing which was physically visible to the eye. We only used the vehicle around the area we were in for the month we were on vacation, it was parked in a garage and therefore nothing could really physically damage it. Upon our return of the vehicle the person examined it and seemed to not found anything he then went around twice again and still saw no mark, he then went and placed his hand underneath the bumper of the vehicle and said it was damaged even though this was not done at the beginning it also was not a place we could physically see ourselves, as I mentioned he went underneath the car. As soon as this happened we informed him we had not damaged it however he was not listening and was being very rude us and stating he would charge my credit card, which they did in a matter of seconds I was charged 1,200 euros without even providing evidence of said damage. I suffer from a heart condition and was immediately shocked and overwhelmed at the fact that this company could be ripping people off knowing that absolutely nothing was done to the car. i immediately started having palpitations and had to rest and take air as this person had the audacity to do this, he had also done it to another person before us therefore its basically daylight robbery. Unfortunately i had not written prior as my health was slightly down and needed to properly rest. I would like to know what your company is able to do. I need a full written report of what was found to provide my credit card as this was a fraudulent transaction and would like to bring a formal complaint of this company to the European ombudsman of Vehicle rentals.

BRUTAL.. NEVER FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN

BRUTAL! I just rented a car from them, my wife was dropping me off at their place in Malaga. We pulled up to the office, an employee came running over threatening to call the police (why, I am not sure). All I did was get out of the car and the guy was in my face yelling at me. I tried to explain my wife is dropping me off, and she would be gone in less than a minute but he kept yelling.

Then, i had bought extra insurance from Doyouspain.com, they wouldn't recognize that (Even though other car rental companies I have used have no problem) Wanted to block 900 € from my credit card, instead I had to buy their insurance for another 300€.

To be fair, the guy at the desk was decent, but I sure didn't appreciate the screaming from the employee outside.0

All in all, a VERY unpleasant experience!!!!!!!!!!

When our customer arrives to our office, we always offer our Super Cover , which covers some of the possible damages that might suffer the vehicle during your rental.

If you're not interested in booking an insurance, because you already have one with another company (or you are just sure that your car will not suffer any damages), we offer you the possibility of leaving a deposit of 950€ or more with a credit card (depending on the group your car belongs) to cover the franchise if something went wrong.

You explained that you had an insurance with a private company, which is totally acceptable. However, what this insurance does, is covering the 950€ (or more) that you leave as a franchise when arriving to our office.

That's the reason why you had to choose one of the alternatives we offered you.

All this is specified on our Terms & Conditions.

Not worth even 1 star

Not worth even 1 star. Will never use ever again and wish I had researched them before booking as I would not have used them for sure. The whole experience was the worst I have ever had when using a hire car ( have used many over the years).
Firstly pick up at the airport was poorly organised and took over an hour to get on the bus to go to the office. Then had to take a ticket to gain a place in the queue ( with a chance to pay €18 to go in the ‘fast’ queue - what a nerve!! ) when finally seen the guy was not friendly or apologetic for the long wait and immediately told us we needed to leave €250 deposit to ensure car was returned full of fuel. The he used scare tactics to try and get a further €175 from us telling us that if there was any damage at all to the car we would be liable for the full cost. He produced a long list of potential extortionate costs and said if we didn’t pay €175 now we would be required to leave a deposit of €1250 which would be held on our card. As we were then going to have €1500 held on our credit card and increasing concerns about the validity of this company started to come to mind, we reluctantly agreed to pay €175. However when we went over all the documentation from our original booking it seems we would never have been liable for more than €1250 anyway even if there had been more damage than covered by that amount, as our insurance would have covered anything over that amount. The amigo autos representative had categorically told us that as we hadn’t booked directly with them ( we booked via holiday autos ) this was not covered. This is totally incorrect we now discover. So they have deceived us and tried to scare us in order to get more money....despicable behaviour . So we have now discovered we have paid €175 totally unnecessarily . Just as we completed our transaction he said to us that we needed to inspect the inside of the car as that was not covered by the €175 !!! On going out to collect the car there was damage both inside and out and therefore I had to go back in to make doubly sure that this was recorded as I had every reason to think that this would be picked up and charged to us had I not done so . On returning the car it was inspected by no less than three people desperate to find something to charge us for. As they obviously realised we had paid €175 -so there was no need for them to find any damaged on the outside as they wouldn’t be able to charge us for that -they picked up on a small mark on the upholstery on the seat which had been there prior to us collecting the car . After we got extremely annoyed with them (and brushing the insignificant mark on the seat away
)they finally got us to sign highlighting that they were saying there was no damage . We are taking this up further as it is very clear that we were mis sold the extra cover and this is not acceptable.

On the issue you described, please let us explain our clients have two options of coverage. Both appear clearly detailed during the booking process, in FAQ section of our website and in Terms and Conditions of the contract you accepted.

First of all, you can choose a basic rental. With this rate it is needed to leave a deposit that remains blocked in your credit card until the day you return the car. If, unfortunately, the car has any damage, amount of repair costs will be deducted from the excess fee initially blocked.

On the other hand you have our Super Cover, plus a security deposit.

We always recommend our clients to take out the Super Cover for their own safe and tranquility on the road, but they're completely free to decide about it.

Aunque con algún tiempo de retraso

Aunque con algún tiempo de retraso, finalmente me fue restituida la fianza que reclamaba. Todos cometemos errores pero con el dinero ajeno hay que ser más respetuosos. En cualquier caso agradezco a AmigoAutos la atención a mi reclamación y la solución al problema. Gracias.

very dissapointed

I was very pleased with the rental. Transfer from the airport and the procedure of registration and return were easy. The car was also beyond praise. But now I have a problem.
I bought full insurance, but I was still forced to pay 150 Euros as a Security Deposit. Ok, I do not mind. More than 7 weeks have passed, but my money has not been returned to me. And they did not block money on the card, but withdrew it from the account. Endless correspondence leads nowhere. They say we have already unlocked the money. But my bank clearly assures me, and I see it in my balance sheet, that no money was returned to me.
I will protest my payment through the bank if I do not receive my money in the coming days. I was very happy at start, but now I"m very dissapointed

Note that if you booked one of our coverage you will also have to leave a security deposit from 150€ as stated in our terms and conditions.

Dont use these scammers

Dont use these scammers - totally overcharging as we picked up our car. Prepayed all, but where charged 350 euro extra. Robbery!!!!
