⭐ Awful experience
⭐ Very poor experience – faulty unit and terrible after-sales service
I bought an air-conditioning unit from this company in April 2025. When I first tried to use it in July 2025, it didn’t cool the room at all – it actually made it hotter.
I contacted the company on 2 July 2025 and was told I needed to install an exhaust through the wall/window. I was also told that the unit was not under warranty.
It took me around a year to get permission from my landlord to drill the large hole required and install the exhaust exactly as advised. I finally had this done on 7 August 2026, only to discover that the unit still doesn’t work and still just heats the building up.
I contacted the company again on 11 August and was then told that, when I originally reported the fault in July 2025, the unit actually WAS under warranty. Had I been given the correct information at the time, this could have been dealt with over a year ago without all the unnecessary hassle and expense.
A new case was raised and I was told it would be looked into. It has now been nine days and I have heard absolutely nothing back.
The unit has never worked properly from the first time I used it, I was apparently given incorrect warranty information when I first reported the problem, and now the company isn’t responding to the complaint.
Extremely disappointing product and after-sales service. I would certainly think twice before buying from this company.

After speaking with the team, they lied about the warranty to me on the phone the first time saying It had run out but it had not. Now it is out of warranty they tell me they will not do anything. Appalling.

BE VERY CAREFUL. THE CALLS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE WITH NO WARNING AS THE CALL ANSWERS THAT THEY ARE CHARGING YOU FOR THE CALL. MY PHONE BILL WAS THROUGH THE ROOF. Disgraceful. I was trying to buy an aircon unit for a disabled family member. THEY SHOULD ALERT CALLERS TO THEIR PHONE CHARGES.

What tells a company apart from another is often its post sales customer suuport/service. Not so this company. The quantity and quality of communication before and after sales support is 1st class. Buy from them with confidence. This quality richly deserves to be rewarded with your custom.

Disappointing Service
In May, I bought the ElectriQ EcoPlus 10,000 BTU portable air conditioner. I purchased it just before the first heatwave and before the summer demand meant that all of the air conditioning units went up in price. I paid £399.97. By the end of June, the. Same unit was £799.97. I also paid extra for the extended warranty.
For the first couple of weeks, the unit worked fine. Then all of a sudden, it stopped working. It wouldn’t turn on and just made a clicking noise when plugged in.
I jumped through all of the hoops to return it to Aircon Direct. I explained that I either wanted it repaired or replaced. They don’t offer repairs, I was told, so it would have to be a replacement. I was then told that I would have to pay the additional £400 to have the same unit replaced. I explained that this was wrong and that it should just be replaced at no additional cost. I was told they had units in stock. I asked for one to be reserved for me while they “tested” my broken one. I was told it wasn’t possible.
When they eventually agreed that my unit was broken, they had sold out of my unit. They offered me several other units - but I had to pay the difference between what I paid and the summer prices. They wanted an additional £400+ from me for units that were not as good as the one I had returned. They had offered me the same brand unit but a spec up. I offered to pay the difference between what they were selling mine at and what they were selling the higher spec unit now - about £100. I was told no. I had to pay an additional £500.
I refused all of this and said how poor the service had been. They were still advertising my unit on their website for delivery after 5th August. It was explained to me that they were waiting for more stock to come in and that I could have one of those units when they arrived. It would take two days normally and someone would contact me to arrange delivery.
In the meantime, the unit had gone out of stock again on their website. However, they were now advertising the same unit as a “pristine” refurbished model.
On 7th August, I contacted Aircon Direct to arrange delivery. I was told that the shipment hadn’t come in and it was now going to be November. In other words, they had sold all of the units for the higher price and didn’t have any to give to me. I wasn’t offered the refurbished unit, which was probably my original unit they had repaired.
I have used the Buy It Direct chain several times in the past for furniture, tablets, headphones, etc. I appreciate a business needs to make a profit, but there was no customer service here at all.
Trying to get me to pay the inflated summer price after I bought it at the usual price is ridiculous. I wonder if someone who pays the higher summer price who needs a replacement in winter when the prices go back to normal again would be given a partial refund? I doubt it.

Avoid this company with all costs
Avoid this company with all costs. I Bought a split pre-gassed unit that didn’t work. I contacted them for a refund, to which they have made me jump through hopes with regards to providing evidence it was faulty. No where does it state on their website, that I need to provide any form of evidence. According to their 14 month warranty I should be covered. It looks like other people have suffered the same fate. This company sells faulty products and should be thoroughly investigated. They also had the audacity, to try and get me to pay an additional £350 for one of their engineers to come and confirm that the unit was faulty. I have been battling for months with the most arrogant customer service advisor. Avoid this company at all costs.

Fast delivery, does the job
