Unethical company - Avoid!
I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience with WellnessLiving has been extremely disappointing.
We signed up as a small business believing we would be able to use the platform fully, including merchant processing functionality. Unfortunately, despite extensive efforts over more than a year, we were never able to properly implement merchant processing due to our location, meaning we could not use a key part of the system we were paying for.
Over the course of the year, our monthly costs increased significantly to over £400 per month, despite the platform never properly meeting our business needs. We also found the booking and purchasing experience difficult for our clients, which negatively impacted our business rather than helping it grow.
After deciding to move to a different system, we attempted on multiple occasions to cancel our subscription. We emailed, contacted support, used live chat, spoke to staff members, and repeatedly requested off-boarding assistance. Each time we were told our request had been forwarded, that someone would contact us, or that a member of Customer Success would be in touch.
What nobody told us at the time was that WellnessLiving would later claim we had already been automatically renewed into another 12-month contract.
We spent weeks chasing responses and trying to close the account, only to eventually be told that our only options were to remain in another year-long contract or pay to buy ourselves out of it.
The most frustrating part is that at no point during our repeated cancellation requests did anyone clearly explain that WellnessLiving considered the contract renewed and that cancellation would not be accepted. Instead, we were continually directed through cancellation and off-boarding processes, giving us every reason to believe our request was being handled.
As a small business, we found this approach both unreasonable and unethical. A company confident in its service should not rely on customers being caught by an automatic renewal clause without any reminder, particularly when those customers have repeatedly communicated their intention to leave.
We honoured and paid for the full year we originally signed up for. We did not continue using the system after moving to another provider and made our intentions clear throughout. Despite this, WellnessLiving's position remains that we are tied into a further year of payments.
Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this company. Small businesses should read the contract very carefully, keep records of all communications, and be aware that attempting to cancel after renewal may result in being told you are committed for another full year regardless of the circumstances.
Very disappointing experience and not a company we would choose to work with again.
