As for now a bad experience. Had to pay €8 to pick up the vanilla beans, after already paying a hefty, €8 for sending an envelope from UK to Germany. Until now no reply from the customer service 😔

I keep on receiving emails about Ugandan Vanilla. I have written to the company expressing concern about promoting Ugandan Vanilla from a country where the Uganda President, Yoweri Museveni, has signed a bill criminalizing same sex conduct, including potentially the death penalty for those convicted of “aggravated homosexuality,” into law. The Anti-Homosexuality Act of 2023 violates multiple fundamental rights guaranteed under Uganda’s constitution and breaks commitments made by the government as a signatory to a number of international human rights agreements. How then can a company purchase Ugandan products and sell them to UK nationals when they know what the government in Uganda is doing. LGBT bakers deserve better and deserve a voice. It has now been over two weeks since I wrote to Vanilla Mart expressing this concern and they have not even bothered to reply. I can only assume that they think silence is the best way forward for profit. Shame on you Vanilla Mart! There are plenty of other Vanillas to purchase!!

Furthermore, the response from VanillaMart below falls short of what is expected of a professionally operated organisation. If you take the stance of the farmers have no control over the government then you do endorse the regime. Memories are short however if you look back at apartheid and South Africa it was the South Africans themselves that endorsed the sanctions of the South African Government at the time. Simply put unless you do something nothing changes. Small steps by many people will and can change the world despite this this company stocking Ugandan products knowing full well that LGBT people in Uganda are being persecuted for their sexuality and giving unknowing LGBT people and supporters abroad the opportunity to endorse the Ugandan Government and their draconian LGBT laws.

Vote with your £££ and choose another product. VanillaMart - remove all Ugandan products from sale….please!!
