I got this as a present for my sister and her husband, and although enjoyable, the experience was an hour less than described and they were very disappointed with the food. They had a very small bowl of pasta (supermarket bought) each which wasn't handed out by the instructor but a serve yourself case. The 'dessert' was some fruit and crumbled bought biscuits. For an experience centred around foraged food, I think this was very overpriced and a cheap way to finish the day and they were left hungry and deflated.

The full day course in groombridge was run by Al, an extremely knowledgeable, likeable guide, for whom no question was left unanswered. It was very hot on the day and following the draught maybe not as much to forage as I would have liked, there was plenty for a meal though.

My husband got me a voucher for Christmas and it was easy to book on for a course (allow plenty of time in advance though as options do get booked up - by the very nature of this they can’t offer many days and have to vary the venues). I was expecting to enjoy it but not as much as I did! Our guide, Beth, was amazing - so knowledgeable and interesting but really understood our level so we learnt so much. Even though it had been hot and dry for weeks we were able to find lots of food for lunch (and in a genuine setting too not the fake set up environment I thought it might be!). It was then great fun preparing lunch all together and it was truly delicious with plenty to go round. Can’t recommend highly enough - in fact we have told everyone we know to come and give this a go! It’s really changed the way we think about food. Thank you so much 😊

This is for people with a deep interest in plants. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable. And that was the problem. I spent ages just standing whilst the guide talked and talked. I was so bored. I know some of the other group members just wanted to sit down but body language seemed to pass our guide by.

(Hint for future. If your audience is showing more interest in seagulls, fishermen, local golfers or playing dogs, then speed up and lighten the cognitive load).

The cooking section was again slow and boring. An hour standing round a picnic table whilst some pasta was boiled with the foraged plants. Guide continually rabbiting on. I didnt bother with the meal in the end.

Very impressed by the knowledge and professionalism of Jasper who led our foraging walk in Portwrinkle. The morning flew by and we all learned a lot. The booking process was fairly lengthy, our first booking was cancelled (with reasonable notice) and it took a while to find a suitable alternative date. I recommend booking early if like me you receive a voucher as a present.

I purchased Totally Wild's Foraging and Cookery Course in March 2025 for £105 as a special 60th birthday gift for my mum.

The original course was booked for August 2025 but was cancelled by Totally Wild just two days before the event. Given that this was at the end of the season, I asked whether I could be given priority booking for the following spring due to the cancellation. I was told this was not possible and was simply advised to "keep an eye on the website" and wait for future dates to be released.

I monitored their website closely and eventually managed to rebook for March 2026. Unfortunately, Totally Wild cancelled this booking as well, this time just one day before the event. By this point, the original purpose of the gift had been completely lost, as my mum's 60th birthday had long passed.

Following the second cancellation, I requested a full refund. Totally Wild agreed, but instructed me to contact Virgin Experience Days and effectively coordinate the refund process myself. I found this disappointing, as the cancellations were entirely on their side and I did not feel it should be my responsibility to manage the administration.

To help move matters forward, I created an email thread including both Totally Wild and Virgin Experience Days. Since then, communication from Totally Wild has been extremely poor. I chased updates on multiple occasions (26 March, 9 April, 21 May and 28 May) and ultimately had to submit a formal complaint in June after more than two months of silence.

At the time of writing, my £105 remains outstanding despite Totally Wild agreeing that a refund should be issued. The only action they have taken has been to send a foraging book as a goodwill gesture, which does little to address the fact that they cancelled the experience twice and have failed to resolve the refund in a timely manner.

I appreciate that cancellations can happen. However, cancelling the same booking twice, offering no meaningful priority for rebooking, leaving the customer to coordinate the refund process, and then failing to communicate for months is simply not acceptable.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Totally Wild in any way shape or form, for their entire lack of customer service and terrible treatment of paying customers.

Received a Virgin gift voucher for a foraging and cooking experience, and I decided to go to Horsenden Hill. It turned out to be one of the best days I’ve had. The whole experience was well-paced and thoughtfully planned.

Our guide, Mo, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about foraging. Cooking together outdoors at the end, chatting, and sharing the meal was such a lovely part of the experience too.

Highly recommend, an excellent experience from start to finish. I’ll definitely join again.

We received a gift for 4 tickets for Totally Wild. On trying to book the tickets we realised all the events are fully booked. I have emailed and called but had no response, and indeed the mobile on the website states "mailbox full" so I am doubtful they have picked up our previous message. I would have like to understand when the next trench of dates would be live on the website. Super disappointing to have had no response. I am hoping that Virgin Experiences will allow us to book something else.

Mo, who hosted our private foraging event on our farm, was outstanding.

Her knowledge, passion and ability to talior make the course was truly excellent.

This is a great event, be it for family, friends or corportate days.

Was given a voucher for Totally Wild Uk as a Christmas present! When we went on the website to book it there were very few locations or dates available in the North East! We found a date coming up in the next few weeks and booked it hastily as there were very few options we could make.
Afterwards it turned out we had double booked ourselves in our haste. I contacted the company asking to rearrange and was told this was not an option and we would have to “pass our tickets onto someone else”.
Not enough courses available and questionable customer service!

Right from the initial introduction our foraging guide - Kelly, was pleasant friendly and made you feel welcomed.
We were all made to feel involved and part of a very informative experience.
I don’t think that you’ll find another forager so enthusiastic.
At no point were we made to feel like we were in a classroom. It was an experience, I think, that we should all participate in.
Well done Kelly, for making us enjoy our day and for helping us understand that there is more to life than just supermarkets.

Aaron our guide (in Norfolk) was exceptional, really knowledgeable, engaging and funny, we learnt so much and will definitely be checking out future foraging courses at different times of year/in different locations, with the company. Surpassed our expectations and we have subsequently enjoyed experimenting with the cooking of our foraged wild garlic

I am extremly disspointed by this company, I ordered two books for my wifes birthday; they took three weeks to then decide to send them out second class and now we're into week 5 and nothing has arrived.

Spent the day foraging and cooking with Al at Buckland Lake Park, Surrey. It was a really fun, interesting experience, with Al clearly demonstrating his knowledge and passion. (Although his language was more 'colourful' than perhaps it needed to be!) The day followed the timetable given in an email before, and if you get peckish around midday, useful to take a snack to nibble in the break, as the cooking isn't until 3pm. We gathered plenty of fungi and a variety of leaves, before cooking up a delicious mushroom and garlic risotto, and windfall apple crumble. It was all quite inspirational.

Kris was amazing, so full of information and so enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge. Within about 10 yards of starting our foraging adventure we were already gathering plants. By the end the baskets were overflowing with produce. The history about medicinal uses was absolutely fascinating and at the end we enjoyed a huge meal of pasta (not foraged. :-D ) green leaves and mushrooms. A fantastic adventure and very recommended. Thanks Kris for a great day.

The foraging and cookery course experience at Stour Head with Totally Wild was absolutely excellent, we loved it! Beth was thoroughly knowledgeable and friendly and we would definitely do another one. Would highly recommend, thanks so much! Victoria and Jonathan

Unreliable.. my daughter and I booked a day of foraging and the course was CANCELLED on morning of the experience.. we had both taken day off work which my daughter doesn't get paid.. I had paid for doggy day care which was also an additional expense.. above all the weather would have been perfect and we are both left very disappointed.. although they had reported difficulties with a car issue taxis are freely available.. I don't think they quite understand that people have very busy lives and look forward to such events and arrange their day around it.. quite a poor excuse if you ask me..
