I started going to Shuhari self defence classes to try something new, very quickly got into it and with the help of the instructors learnt a lot about technique’s and how to execute them perfectly.
The family environment at Shuhari is fantastic and with the flexible times they offer makes it very easy to do at least 1 class a week.

So glad I came across Shuhari self defence classes. One of the few martial art and self defence clubs that focus heavily on physical training as well as the spiritual side to boost your general wellbeing in every aspect, happy to be part of the Shuhari family, couldn't recommend them more highly!

Techniques taught are practical, effective and realistic. I learned a lot of values. Grit and timing are most important in anything you do if you want to succeed. Shuhari had given me better confidence. Tuition rates are most reasonable in this dojo. The students and instructors are most friendly though there had been intense practice at times. It is still a happy place.

Sensei Olgun is a fantastic mentor to both children and adults alike.
We orginally signed our 7 year old son up to Shuhari as a confidence and discipline boost.
The classes were so inspirational we all ended up joining 2x adults and 2x children. It is a wonderful class for the whole family who want to keep their fitness levels and flexibility.

I have been training with shuhari Self defense for 6 years and can say without doubt that it has been the best experience ever. I train alongside my son who started at age 7 and at age 12 is now a senior student. The club is incredibly welcoming and friendly (it's like a second family). The head instructor has a phenomenal depth of practical knowledge and has the skill to implement this and teach. The team of instructors are also highly skilled and receive regular tuition from the head instructor.
The style taught is a pragmatic mix of martial arts and its practical application. If you are looking for a martial art that will really make you or your children feel (and be) safer, then this is the club for you.
I have trained many styles in the past and this club is unsurpassed for practical self defence - everything that is taught has a practical real world application that has been tried and tested.

Practical karate
Classes teach mixed martial arts techniques like elbows, knees, punches, kicks, sweeps, take downs, throws, ground work. And not just physical technique of MMA, but also the psychological and legal side of self defence is covered as well.

The martial arts training offered here is great for reducing stress and anxiety. Hitting the pads helps you relax. It is very enjoyable.

I am an instructor for a different club but attended sessions online during lock down with Shuhari self defence and some in person. The passion and dedication Sensei Olgun has put in to building his club as a community is so evident in every detail. From the comprehensive and robust training and grading syllabus, equipment, celebrations and recognition to online content and communication. I would highly recommend this club to anyone wanting to start out with a great supportive community and to those advanced students wanting to dig in and excel to their best ability.

Have been training with this club for a good few years now and my honest opinion is that you won’t really find another club like this. Their practical and detailed approach to karate is amazing and every student is focused on. The instructions are all very caring and make sure that all students are trained in the way they can make them the best versions of themselves. This club for me has personally improved my confidence and I have a new found love for martial arts. The brilliant striking that is practical mixed with the grappling and other techniques this club taught me is nothing anyone else I know can perform who also does martial arts. Overall a very unique and amazing club and would 100 percent recommend to anyone and not just people who want to learn martial arts but anyone as it brings a lot of good things to your everyday life.

If you are looking for martial arts classeses in Bracknell, this one is recommended. They do sparring, pad work, scenario based self defence and anti bullying training. Really useful and enjoyable stuff.

This karate club in slough is more than a club, its a family.
Everyone has a great sense of pride in what they achieve. I love that there are many different classes at different times of the day so if life gets in the way, as it often does, classes can still be attended. I have two boys of different ages ( 8 and 11) they both love the classes and get so much from the instructors and environment created in the dojo.

As a long standing martial artist I've been fortunate enough to have travelled the country and been a part of multiple martial arts clubs over the years.
Based in Berkshire, Shuhari Self Defence stands out from amongst the crowd as a special club; not only because of the talent and passion shown by its chief instructor Olgun, but also by the dedicated instructor team and students who follow. Everyone engages fully, respect their fellows, and honours the traditions of this well-established club of 13 years.
The standards are high - Shuhari will challenge you both mentally and physically, push you to know your limits and teach you to go beyond. Yet, the instructors are warm and friendly and will guide you through your journey every step of the way. The defence syllabus has been chosen to be pragmatic – teaching you how to quickly apply the basics of self-defence without all the complications of redundant techniques. I took part in a ten week self defence course, with one session per week given by the chief instructor of Shuhari Self Defence at my employer’s offices. This was the first in a series of increasingly advanced courses and covered the basics of self defence, including how to avoid being targeted by opportunistic criminals on the street (e.g. muggers), being aware of one’s surroundings and how best to react in case something does go wrong. In terms of physical techniques the course covered distance management, basic unarmed strikes, grab/hold/choke escapes and a first simplified version of sparring. Overall it was a nice overview of a lot of aspects of self defence. I also found the instructor to be very approachable and excellent at his job, due to his obviously high level of experience in the practical application of martial arts to real life situations. His teaching style was straightforward and to the point, while encouraging interactivity and questions. Overall a very enjoyable learning experience. I have already signed up for the next course and I expect I will continue as long as the courses keep coming.

I have trained with Shuhari in Maidenhead, Bracknell and Slough over a number of years now and have always found the environment to be inclusive and non-threatening. The emphasis is on building self-confidence through the ability to defend yourself. I've found its instructors to be patient and professional.
Shuhari is a great club for all ages and experience levels and offers a bunch of membership plans to match how often one wants to train. The club also offers one on one instruction which I found to be very useful.

The best martial art classes i have ever attend! Great Sensei teachers and students, many good locations like the one in Slough!

Over the course of the few years, I have been taught a lot of things, such as hard work, dedication, a you can do it attitude, and lots more. Shuhari and the Sensei’s makes my life so much more observant, more focused and fun! Yes there are times where we have to be serious but Shuhari and the people within makes me feel as if we’re a part of a family. Sensei’s push you to strive for the best, learn the techniques right and take your time.

Great knowledge, very patient teachers and a great family atmosphere. Would recommend to family and friends
