They were very helpful and polite

They were very helpful and actioned all my requirements while on the phone. Although, if the companies website allowed customers to transfer funds for all their accounts in the first place, it wouldn't need to call them in the first place.

Really pleased with the building…

Really pleased with the building society, was able to easily open my online account and get set up on the app! The staff have been so helpful helping me with this.

Took far too long to open new cash ISA Savings

Took far too long to open new Cash ISA Savings accounts....their system application process is complex /inefficient......whereas a competitor had our accounts open for funding/up and running within 24 hours, so we went with them.
The service phone line was good but everything after that was abysmal....hope they can bring the systems up to date and customer friendly as first contact was good [with a human]

I have been trying to open an online account but Saffron don't want my money.

I have been trying to open an online only savings account. All fine with the application until I get to the create password and memorable answer page. I stuck very strictly to Saffron's guidelines on creating passwords and a memorable answer. I have lost count of the number of times I have been told that I had done everything wrong and then booted off the page while trying to create an acceptable password. I telephoned the helpline and was told to try using more special characters! They seemed unaware of this problem that other Trustpilot reviewers have recently reported. I will be going elsewhere to a building society that has a functional IT system.

Unable to set password

Like many other reviewers, I was unable to set password online, despite following all the protocols. I contacted the Saffron BS, but they too could not get a password to work . Eventually I did the ISA application on paper. The staff member I spoke to was helpful, but seemed unaware that many customers were experiencing the same issue.

I've been a member a few years and had…

I've been a member a few years and had no problems until now - but multiple issues this time.
Opened an ISA online, sent a secure message, all looked OK, but no acknowledgement or responses.
Sent an email - no response, but then got the secure message response which did nor answer the question.
Sent me a link - not live, no use.

Online application system that needs sorting out

I have just failed to open an ISA with Saffron. Repeated hurdles presented by their password setting and memorable question requirements. Compliant password rejected. Then found myself timed out very rapidly and unable to get back into the application as I had no account and password... Rang Saffron. Swift and pleasant customer assistance on phone (hence couple of stars) but was told there was nothing to do but start a new application from scratch. All they could do was close off my half finished application and either go through a new application with me on the phone or send me a form. Their online application system password section needs sorting out.

I tried to open an online savings…

I tried to open an online savings account today, but was unable to. There were no issues until I had to enter a password and memorable word. I double checked I was following the instructions for creating a password correctly and was only using the special characters that are allowed. I changed my password in case there was something in the original that was causing the issue, but I still could not complete the application. I started the application again in a different browser, but still hit the same brick wall! In both browsers I was unable to view the password I had entered, which is not helpful. Another issue with the webpage is the instructions for the length of your favourite word are incorrect. You are only able to enter up to 16 characters, not 30. The issue with the password has already been reported on TrustPilot, but nothing is being done about it. Does Saffron Building Society not want new customers?

What's wrong with Saffron's onboarding…

What's wrong with Saffron's onboarding savings account process.... everything is relatively easy UNTIL you get to the bit about creating a password and memorable question,I've tried 5 times and it highlights everything in red saying my password etc doesn't meet requirements (it does!!) I follow the instructions TO THE LETTER and do it again and again and again,change it again and again & again and still no luck....what the hell is going on?? I literally give up...

Terrible First Impression

My wife tried to open an account with Saffron Building Society and she wasted over 30 minutes battling through a clunky, outdated, and frustrating process. The site is just not user-friendly at all.

If something as basic as opening an account becomes a long, drawn-out experience, and after completing the form the system tells you it’s not possible to process and asks you to call them, it really makes you wonder what the rest of their service is like.

This experience gave us zero confidence in this building society, so we’ve decided to look elsewhere. Definitely not worth the hassle.

Proper, excellent service

We keep reading about the on line Challenger banks getting service awards. Afraid I much prefer to deal with a society like Saffron where you speak to someone who knows what they are talking about (rather than a ‘ chat bot’). When I’ve had a need to speak to them the team has always been helpful pleasant and knowledgeable and they do what they say they will.

Great savings account for our charity

I recently became aware of the new Community Savings range available from the Saffron building Society. We have found it hard historically to locate a suitable account that is available to us. The set up process was very slick and the team at Saffron were there if we had any questions. I highly recommend to any Charities or non-profit organisations.
