Caring when hard decisions to make

Sadly today we lost our beloved Harley (cat) through cancer. We had taken him in with a damaged paw but some other very recent red flags in our minds. Rowe had to review him and conduct ultrasound and x-rays and other tests over a 48 hour period. We were regularly contacted with updates including when some positive news became devastating. They called us in to share final moments with him. All members of staff including Leah, Daisy and Emma and other members of staff were very understanding and supportive. We appreciated the bill had to include emergency charges and we were kept informed of the costs. Rowe had saved Harley's twice before over the last 14 years. Just annoyed that two customers were rude to staff moaning about petty £100 bills this evening next to me after my wife and I had lost our cat.

Dissappointed in Service to "Look After my Dog"

I've accepted that this vet is extremely expensive, but today I've had enough.

Dog was there on Thursday for an appointment to examine his (potential) torn ligament. As from four years ago, made it known that he is imported from South Afica. Nothing was said about it. Booked his X-Rays for today, got medication to calm him (at a hefty price of course). Took him in this morning to be told they are not allowed to do anything as he first needs a blood test for Brucella. £140 later, blood is drawn, cannot rebook the X-Rays until they get the results. My dog goes to this vet every six months, this has never been highlighted to us. Vet said this has been under their radar for the last six month. Per the government website this is nothing new.

Zero Rating

Zero Rating, avoid this place, all they care about is money, I am so thankful I have had dogs for 25 years so I know what I am talking about.

Went to the out of hours surgery yesterday as my dog had an infected paw and it was very sore. We saw Kelly Vourou, well she obviously didn't want to be there, didn't say hello to us or our dog, was downright rude.

She hacked off my dogs foot fur with clippers and she screamed in pain, bare in mind her paw was infected, didn't even try and calm her down, then squeezed her poor paw and she was crying in pain, before this she hadn't cried once and I had been bathing it at home.

Well this is when the lies and money making start, she tried to say her foot could be broken I told her no as can walk on it, then said would needs a CT scan 🤣 a xray under general anesthetic, also swabs, then that I should not bath it to keep it clean as can do worse damage!! that her nails were too long, interesting cut them 3 days ago, also told shouldn't walk her and the lies went on and on.

In the end left with her just having an anti-inflammartory jab, they would not give antibiotics until all other tests done 😡

So today we went to the lovely Victoria Vets on Staple Hill, what a breath of fresh air. The vet listened I said she had cut her foot, he told me I was correct bathing it and bandaging it for walks, she is fine to walk as not in pain. Agreed it was infected so gave me foot wash, antibiotics and anti-inflammatorys. She did not cry once as he was so gentle.

SO AVOID ROWE

My £105 bill from today could have been in the £1,000 if Rowe had their way.

I was also charged £52 to have a little bit of fur shaved off her paw as I already done most of it prior to the appointment at Rowe.

Avoid and find a caring vet practice…

Avoid and find a caring vet practice that don’t enter fictitious notes in your pets’ medical records. I’ve moved to an independent practice now but whilst at Rowe they included a note to state a serious medical condition was known to be pre existing (it wasn’t). Whilst they eventually fixed the note, they wouldn’t fix it just by me providing evidence from my pet’s passport (which is what the fake note referenced) but they also insisted on phoning the Cypriot vet my girl was with prior to her being adopted. A very stressful situation. In addition to this they put a note in one of my cat’s medical records that she needed a stage 1 dental but did not tell me. I queried the condition of my other cat’s teeth twice to be told no action was necessary (which didn’t reflect the note they left on her medical record)and then when she did need a dental Rowe booked me in for a stage 2 and then changed it to a stage 1 without advising me, which would have led to a further dental treatment within a month. I also had the incorrect medication dispensed for my dog and an incorrect prescription issued. Whilst I appreciate my dog had complex needs the whole team just felt incredibly disjointed and the fact that the medical notes do not match what I was told verbally is now leaving me out of pocket on insurance claims.

I had my beautiful two stray kittens spayed today, totally different individuals, conducted their selves magnificently at every opportunity involving injections, examinations, weight, however regarding my choice of names, the discharge nurse, expressed she had a favourite, I would suggest, both of my kittens are doing magnificently, one has a stronger personality, and when frightened the other one lashed out, thank you all for your fabulous care, HRH and Madeleine are fabulous and very grateful,💋

Angry client

Starting to lose my patience with this practice! My dog is registered with both the general practice and the eye clinic. My 15 year old (rescue) staffie needs an appointment to have his eyes checked, but because his last treatment was in 2019 I have to book an appointment with the general practice for them to 'refer' him again. So now I have to pay 50.00 (consultation fee) to the vet, who is downstairs in the same building, to formally pick up the phone and confirm the referral. Not only that, I had an appointment a few days ago for a check up and blood test (180.00 plus) following a blood test 6 weeks ago (also 180.00 plus). The first bloodtest printout gave me all the information I needed. The second bloodtest printout only gave me half the information but cost the same. I've had several problems with various vets, including one who told me that my dog's prognosis, following mast cell tumour removal, was two MONTHS but one of the options was chemotherapy which I refused. Another vet phoned me later to tell me that what I was told was incorrect. Three years later he is alive and well albeit his age related issues slowing him down. I'm feeling angry,I'm thinking of changing vet practice, if my dog was younger I would. Rant over.

Vultures Preying on distressed and vulnerable pet owners who love their animals!

Unfortunately, I was so concerned about my cat I didn't check out these reviews before taking her to Rowe's Yate, because she was lethargic and refusing to eat. The vet quickly established that she had a small abscess on her neck and they admitted her for treatment, BEWARE they asked me if I wanted her revived it she went into cardiac arrest and therefore required me to sign a form agreeing to pay up to £1000 for treatment. They lanced the abscess which didn't even require stitches and when I collected her they charged me £670.32 as they had also carried out a plethora of totally unnecessary and unwarranted checks and treatments. They are absolute swindlers to be AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS!

Absolutely love this vets

Absolutely love this vets, we don't even use it for our cat (yet) as they're a bit far out for us, but whenever we have a lost pet or injured/abandoned wildlife emergency they are always there and lovely. Their service is amazing and you can tell they all really care about all animals great and small, and are passionate about their work. Might have to transfer over to them!

Save yourself heartache

I can only strongly advise anyone to "look up" on the internet any tests that Rowe Vets want to or do carry-out and question fully if they are relevant to your pets symptoms. My Dog was under their care for three weeks, he received test after test at an approximate cost of £2,000. On the last conversation I had with them they advised that I either "FULLY COMMIT" to a range of Tests under a specialist (no-doubt Rowe Referrals) at an expected cost of between £7,000-£10,000 or I should consider euthanasia. This fact (referral costs) has since been denied by Rowes. Within 24hrs of changing Vets my dog is running around like an 8 year old puppy although mainly due to medication whilst we wait for a CT Scan.

It is worth noting that Rowe (like many vets in our area) are members of one of the largest groups in Europe Independant Vetcare Limited with a massive turnover and no doubt operational costs. In my opinion as with many other opinions on vets in general they are happy to order tests at your expense which appear questionable as to your pets condition.

I will firstly admit that my dogs condition may very well be complexed and I have refused to have some of the tests that they wanted to do, whilst this fact is included in my dogs clinical record they do not include the fact that the vet had said things like "I don't think it is this but lets rule it out" and "you could wait until we have results from a previous test". On one occasion within his report it claims that we refused to hospitalise my dog overnight but it doesn't include the vet saying "we may" put him on an IV but he will be here for his ultrasound in the morning, and that after questioning the vet about staying in we were told that he (my dog) should be fine if we took him home and that we just saved ourselves about £500 costs. We were perfectly able and did take him back in the morning for his ultrasound. At no time did we refuse any Tests that we were told was necessary, other than one whilst we waited for the results of a previous one which was also done following those results.

Towards the end of our three weeks at Rowes we were told (after a specific test) "Good news, we have a diagnosis" and that it was Cushings and he was subsequently treated with Vetoryl and I even obtained a Three Month Prescription. This has now proved to not be Cushings and following a complaint all reference to me being told it was Cushings has been denied and in fact it is now claimed that I was told that it probably isn't Cushings, which is a blatant Lie!! It is now also claimed that the prescribed Vetoryl was only a Trial!! I fully dispute this and certainly do not see a Three Month Prescription as being a Trial, my dog is/was so ill he would not have survived possibly another week and absolutely no chance of Three Months!! He had virtually not eaten at this point for over Two weeks and had lost over 8 kilo, whilst his clinical notes do include notes on his weight loss, this fact appeared to be generally ignored as did a swelling on his nose and even after a specific appointment for this issue in a hope to obtain some antibiotics Rowe's refused to treat this and told me to make a further appointment the following day.

My complaint was investigated by Rowe's own Clinical Lead and as expected I received a total denial to all my claims. If I totally believed that Clinical Lead remained unbiased then I would understand how he came to this conclusion if he had just went by my dogs records. The fact that my dogs records are not totally accurate and that the specific conversation between myself and the vet referring to being diagnosed with Cushings is not recorded either by confirming or denying it, seems oddly strange as every other conversation is included. My dog is now under a different vet whereby tests have now been carried out specific to his issues. Cushings was ruled out within five minutes and following going on a drip for two hours and treated with a steroid my dog is running around as though nothing is wrong. Sadly it is believed that he may have some form of Cancer and the subsequent CT Scan will hopefully give some definitive answers. I believe that we have wasted three weeks in obtaining a diagnosis and can only assume of the damage caused by this and whilst I don't begrudge him the money we do not have insurance and yes money is tight but the wasted £2,000 certainly doesn't help. If there is one thing that I'm certain about it's that my dog would not be alive today if I stayed at Rowe Vets.

Took my frenchie there for tight…

Took my frenchie there for tight nostrils they told us he needed a boas op cost us £4,000 neglected to tell us he was being given antibiotics to recover he was perfect health. He was 8 months old when he had the op ever the antibiotics ruined his immune system and he suffered from allergies which rippedhis skin apart we have spent thousands of pounds trying to get his health back steroids where then given to him by another vet new diet it’s 2years later and we had to put him to sleep he couldn’t take no more medication. I’m heartbroken I will never be the same again if I could turn the clock back I would never go near these vets or any other vet. I feel like it’s my fault they knew giving him antibiotics would put him and us on a downward spiral I’m thinking of taking them to court. Bit of advice don’t take your dog to the vets try natural remedies first they just want your money sorry but I’m heartbroken

Very good care and service of my chihuahua from start to finish

My chihuahua was referred to Rowe eye specialist by my vet after discovering that he had extra lashes growing inside his eyelids. We received an appointment and he was examined by Magda, vet. She explained every little detail of what could be done and the whole process and the options available to us. Amico was booked in for his surgery the following week. A veterinary ruse collected Amico from us and again explained the procedure to us. She brought out the forms for us to sign and explained that the cost of surgery would be around £4000 and whilst they could not guarantee the correct amount until the procedure was completed, it should not exceed £4000. She confirmed that the vet would telephone me after surgery.
I received a telephone call from Magda around 3.30p.m. And she explained in detail what the operation entailed. We also discussed the time for collecting Amico. We collected him and everything went smoothly. We were given medication and explanation given as to when and what to give Amico. Appointment for his check up in a weeks time was made the following day and advised that they are available 24/7 on the telephone if any advice required. Also there is a vet available 24/7 too.
Can’t see what more could be done.

Took my very ill dog there out of hours…

Took my very ill dog there out of hours to be euthanised, was not allowed in when they prepared her, when I did get in she was boiling hot clearly distressed, calmed her down and she passed away, vet then asked if I wanted to put her in car first, clearly talking about settling the bill, on the way out of surgery mentioned the bill again, don't think you will get anywhere near a caring service from them, focus is on money not owner or pet care

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE , they care about more what they are charging rather than giving competent care , our pet had a life threatening blockage and they missed it and released him back to us following day and said he was fine with only pain killers and worming medication and was charged £1000, we rang to discuss with the vet that it was missed and she was very defensive and twisting what was actually said , she had the neck to say “your dog was ok and happy when he left, how do I know he didn’t get that blockage after he left” (can’t believe she even said that, what sort of attitude is that, he was sedated and was out of it and still vomiting after his medication they gave him wore off , our pet is part of our family and to think he could have died because of her incompetence and arrogance of how argumentative she was , she used out of hours as an excuse , please be aware , it is nothing but a money making machine , with no care about the outcome of your pets . She just left it that “put in a complaint if your not happy “, that’s the attitude your dealing with from this company.

ROWE BRADLEY STOKE are a absolute…

ROWE BRADLEY STOKE are a absolute disaster!!! do not take your pet there... as they are more worried about how much you have on your insurance cover than your pets welfare! not only can i ad when i went to collect my pet after being sedated they tried to give me the wrong dog back!!! i was livid... how incompetent can you be!! rowe! but then to be given my dog back after sedation with no discharge notes and when i asked the nurse what should we do with him now.. she said i dont know!! Rowe are an absolute joke!!!!! again i paid upfront for all of the treatment to my pet , but to continue with there incompetence when i clearly had paid them and they sent there side of the insurance claim form off they told the insurance to pay them! not me so they got paid twice!! and now after chasing for 4 weeks still haven't refunded me the money paid! that is fraudulent claiming for treatment already paid Rowe!

Dont be ripped off.

I asked for a consultation on a Friday, was told not until following Wednesday, or i could pay £160 + fees and go 7pm that evening, it seems Rowe vets think more about the charges than your pet, money doesnt matter to me when my dog is ill.
i found another vet who helped us in our time of need,
thanks for nothing Rowe vets.

ROWE vet hospital

ROWE vet hospital - Bradley stoke.
ROWE VET hospital, bradley stoke. Awful inconsistent care for our very ill pet, total chaos trying to contact by phone, no help in an emergency, more interested in whether we could pay and our credit rating than the health of our pet. Disgusted. Sent our pet home when he was clearly still ill and not eating. Strongly advise against using them. We’d booked a teleconference with them they knew nothing about. Told us to go away and speak to our own vets. Would never use again in, use Langford. When they did hand back our very ill pet he'd soiled himself before getting in his carrier and no one had made any effort to clean him or give him some dignity.
