Used to be very good, definitely have lost trust in them
I've been attending this practice for years with my animals and rated them highly until earlier this year when I realised they'd detected but not acknowledged the seriousness of a heart condition in two of my cats meaning they didn't get follow-up diagnostic treatment for nearly a year until another vet saw them at their next booster and arranging asap for them to have the test. A couple of other less serious but at the same time noticeable incidents these last six months have also got me concerned so I've moved my other animals elsewhere for treatment for the foreseeable.
Avoid for your pets sake
I joined the vet for my kitten my first cat and I was unsure how to look after her properly. Therefore I joined the vets health plan and all went okay other than overcharging me 4 out of 5 times one of these times I had to wait a week for my money to hit my account after the refund. After learning kittens do better with a play mate I got a second kitten and covered her on her own health plan. Only due to having gone through the process with Luna and my friend asking me about lolas worming did I realise the medication for lola was never given to me. So on friday morning after emailing the clinic i called them when I found the meds covered other much more serious feline problems and my kitten had been left unprotected. After speaking to the reception and understanding things go wrong from time to time I was told the meds will be available later on in the day but to wait until I recieve a text message before setting off so I don't have to wait. As the importance to me was significant I took the afternoon off and waited. No one bothered to contact me I was left waiting. This was the final straw and I replied to the email explaining no one contacted me and I have decided to find another vet therefore want to cancel the health plans. Today monday I receive am e mail threatening me with a surcharge which I will not be paying. If you love your pet stay away from here they really do not care and the service litterally puts your pet att risk
Wonderful team
Was so worried about our Staffie
Rang the vets and got appointment for the afternoon,,
The vet explained everything and was so wonderful,,,
We were given medication however advised we didn't have to buy it from them,,,
We are in a very fortunate position and can afford certain treatments with a cover plan as financial support,,,
I can honestly say the veterinary gave us peace of mind and reduced our stress and anxiety,,,
Absolutely wonderful practice
Disgusting
Disgusting, immoral, truly awful company.
I’ve been a customer for 14 years.
In that time I have spent in excess of £10,000 (waiting for confirmation of how much, but they say their records go back to 2012. Contacted my bank too as I don’t trust them)
On 6/5/2022, I took my dog into their Hyde surgery for a £1000 ultrasound scan.
It took me 5 minutes to get home and I had a missed call. Expensive 5 minute scan.
I called them back to be told by the exceptionally rude woman I left her with, that she had a tumour on her liver and did I want to have her put to sleep.
She said my dog had 3 months maximum and I collected her.
For the next 2 years I was charged ridiculous prices monthly for basic medication (gabapentin and omeprazole).
And £110 for a supplement called samilyn, that is £60 on Amazon.
They also insisted I bring my dog in every 3 months before they would give medication to ease her pain.
Just an excuse for more of their ridiculously priced “consultations”.
Today I called them to say my dog is now at the stage where she should be put to sleep, and that I would prefer that to happen at home.
I was told no one would be available before next week, and that the call out charge alone would be £480, before any injections.
I’m disgusted.
This is why these thieving scammers need regulation.
I’d be more than happy to discuss this face to face in any of your surgeries.
I plan to email every press department that may be interested on post on every pet forum I can find.
This immoral company should not be allowed to trade.
They are the lowest of the low.
Sent home with wrong medicines lucky I…
Sent home with wrong medicines lucky I noticed. Now they lost my dogs blood sample and denied they even took the blood even though they asked me to come back free of charge. Would definitely not recommend this vet's. Reception staff and nurses too busy laughing and messing about behind counter. Vet surgeon very nice but too many and never see the same one. £1200 later and my dogs eye as bad as day one
Immoral Vets
Tameside Veterinary Clinic was once an independent vets. It is now owned by a huge private equity corporation. It has no interest in animal welfare only profit. Every time I have visited this practice they are always trying to get me to agree to treatment that is completely unnecessary and very expensive.
The last time I visited this practice I only went to get two injections that my cat Alfie had in the past. I told the vet that was what I wanted him give to Alfie. He did exactly what I asked him to do. On leaving I was presented with a bill for £102. £45 was for both injections that Alfie had been given. That, I do not begrudge paying. What I did begrudge was a £57 consultation fee when there was no consultation given. The dictionary definition of consultation is as follows: A meeting with an expert or professional, such as a medical doctor, in order to seek advice. There was no advice sought, I told the vet exactly what I wanted him to do to Alfie and he did.
Tameside Vets have refused to refund the £57 fee for a consultation that never happened.
Unfortunately over 50% of veterinary practices are now owned by private equity corporations. All they are interested in doing is relieving you of as much money as they can. Their motivation isn't animal welfare, it is purely profit. Even the vets there are more like salespeople. They push you to go for every possible treatment even if you probably can't afford it. Independent vets are becoming rarer. They do have animal welfare at heart. Sadly these huge greedy corporations are not there for us and our pets benefit.
Friendly
Our vet, Alex, is really good with our rescue dog, he thinks Alex is the Dogs Bllcks. The receptionists are really nice and Im pleased we changed our vet & went to Tameside Vets.
This is for Tameside vets in Hyde
This is for Tameside vets in Hyde, absolute disgrace. Back in November i rang them because my cat was really poorly and he's never been ill. I rang them and told them how poorly he was and I needed to bring him down to see a vet, they choose to give me the last appointment. Me and my son took him down and the vet lifted the top of the carrier off and said that he's really poorly and we CANT do anything as we are closing, what the hell!!! I had to take him to Ian McConnell's in mossely because they were open 24Hrs. This cost me a lot of money. and a couple of weeks later they had to put him to sleep, I was heartbroken. Tameside vets charged me £50 for them to refuse treatment for my cat. Which I will not pay I'm disgusted what they did. I have now got 2 kittens and they were under the care of Tameside from the place we bought them from. I told them 3 times when I set the pet plan up about my late cat and they didn't listen. so when my new kittens had their first injections and paid for the first payment, I got a text message to say that they will NOT being treating my fur babies as I have an outstanding bill of £50 and now they are hounding me for £250 for the remaining pet plan...... Hang you refused the care of kittens!!!
I AM NOT PAYING SIMPLE. absolute disgrace this vets, avoid at all cost. I wouldn't even give them 1 star !!!!!!!!
I would NEVER recommend any animal to…
I would NEVER recommend any animal to go to tameside veterinary clinic (that included a all clinics)
Their shear incompetence and willingness to cover up wrong doings is dangerous to say the leave.
My dog had a general anesthetic and died and they tried to deny it. I would never trust them with any animal
The vets are all brilliant but one nurse not
All vets are great and I'm happy to recommend the doctors there especially Przemysław Idzikowski brilliant work He done.. Thanh to you for your work.
But the nurse tried to convince me to pay more.
The attitude of one nurse was very bad, she refused to give her name. So I bet you can checked that by name of pet and the date.
well, she was stroking my kitten without gloves and hand sterilization, I asked nicely if she could stop stroking my kitten so hard that her legs were bending or at least put gloves on, the nurse was annoyed by this so i explained myself by saying I wasn't rude i just not sure who she had touched before, maybe had fleas or different smell and I don't like that.
Unfortunately, she was offended by the attention and was rude to me asking how she could get the vaccination without touching the cat, so again I politely said I was just asking you to stop petting my cat in that hard and annoying way not touching it and this is a diametrical difference (if I come with a trained German Shepherd, she would never pet him because he is trained only for one owner) and she should know that if she wants to become a doctor without making a funny face at me.
I asked to speak to the veterinarian, she refused and offered to arrange a consultation for me at another time if I wanted to talk to the vet . I said I had already paid £100 for two visits and had the right to speak to the vet, she refused and said that she would not do the second vaccination if I had to go to the vet I had to pay again and do the first vaccination again then do the second so I said I came for a second vaccination and I am asking for it to be done..she was very rude and mean. I understand that she is young in apprenticeship but she should have respect for the client.
I thought I'd write a complaint specifically about what she wrote after that visit. She lied that I was rude and that I was talking to people in the waiting room. The only person i spoke to that day was the receptionist.
I was very disappointed in the lies of this nurse and I will avoid visits with her and advise others because she lies and writes made up things that did not happen.
My cat's name is Nasa i hope you know who i and maybe you will be ashamed of what you wrote about me. Because I've been EXTREMELY patient with you, and I think I'm absolutely right that you should wear gloves when you're vaccinating. I don't think you'd be comforted if a doctor at the hospital took your blood without gloves. I have no problems with any person at the clinic and I am nice to everyone, I have been a client since 2019 and I have never met such a mean person. No one even wrote about me that kind of comment like you.
, I understood I upset you I drew your attention about wearing gloves but you should be a professional if you think you are right we can go to court and then we'll find out who was right and whether you should actually wear gloves.
Great vets…
Great service Alex fabulous vet sorted my puppy out also nicola reception both great needed more treatment so they brought it to my house on there way home my puppy is ell thanks to these two ladys also I must add all the staff an all the vets are fabulous I've been going since the vets have been open an i find they treat me like family lovely people all round wouldn't trust any other vets to treat my animals thankyou to all at tameside vets Ashton branch xx
Incompetent staff, discriminatory and unprofessional service and bullying behaviour.
This review is taking a lot of courage to write but I feel that it absolutely has to be said so that they hopefully realise their errors in judgment and change their ways before they offend and hurt more people. I am not going to write out in detail the issues I have had as I fear the treatment will become much worse if they guess it is me and that is not fair to my pets or to myself.
Some of the vets and nurses at this practice are alright however one is awful and so high up on their horse that they forget the climate us lowlifes are living in and certainly do not care about the fact that people can have disabilities that affect their mobility, dexterity and also ability to wear a mask. This is not a political stance, this is due to my inability to breathe. They did not care and instead told me I’d have to leave the animals for her to deal with and then I can go get them when she’s ready. This would have maybe worked if she actually was willing to listen to me and what the issues actually were with regards to my pets in the first place, instead of presuming and thinking she knows best. Much to their disappointment, they will no doubt learn quickly that they don’t best at all things and some of us actually have a brain and a heart and feelings and disabilities.
This in and of itself is so wrong and needs to be rectified immediately but this is unfortunately not at all the only issue that needs rectifying at this vets.
The staff are all completely inept at running a practice successfully. I felt ridiculed, bullied and harassed by two members of the reception staff, (please note that I am talking about four separate visits in the past month so it is an ongoing theme with them) and the others seem to be just dithering along not updating the system or each other and in doing so have done nothing but harass me along with the bad two over something that they themselves apologised for and owned up to. Of course that lasted all of five minutes because the next one I spoke with (one of the terrible two) went back on the word of her colleagues and doubled down to accuse me AGAIN of purposely not doing what I was rudely told. It’s just absolutely abhorrent and rude, completely unacceptable behaviour, totally unprofessional and needs to be rectified IMMEDIATELY.
She has harassed me in person, multiple times, via phone call, via text, via post AND email and has disregarded everything I have said and done. It’s shameful and it’s NOT okay!
Within this, a disabled person I was not only made to feel bad about myself and disabilities, laughed at and mocked and chastised like a small child multiple times about it too.
If their goal was to knock some down and make them feel small and insignificant then it worked.
All of this teamed with the vet who wouldn’t even acknowledge the fact that I couldn’t wear a mask at that moment in time as I’d just gotten over an asthma attack and was still struggling. I just want to reiterate that I am medically exempt from wearing a mask for a reason and they were so horrid, it left me in tears on the way home.
ALL of this has honestly made me cry on multiple occasions because of the hell they are putting me through. All I want is for my pets to be well cared for and healthy and I just no longer feel that it is possible for me to continue with this practice.
I really hope they look deep and see the mistakes they have made and own them with dignity instead of stripping other people of theirs instead.
They were also absolutely awful in the way they dealt with my small rescue dog who is fear reactive as he was treated like dog bait to the awful people who previously had him so when a Great Dane, 4 times his size strolled in he naturally barks and is inconsolable. To anyone with eyes and ears they could see he was in distress and was scared and that was why he was reacting this way yet the reception staff very angrily told me to go wait in the car that I don’t even have and wouldn’t allow me to take him into a private room that was actually empty. I had to stand out in the storm with him which was when they accosted my grandmother into their ridiculous treatment of me to her also and continued their harassment on her.
I just want to say that on TWO other occasions they did this to my grandmother as well.
They overall have just been just so horrid and myself and the practice has gone down hill in the six months since we were last there months previously.
So of the four visits to the practice in four weeks time, multiple phone calls, texts, emails and letter they were absolutely, categorically, unprofessionally vile with the me, my grandmother, my pets and god knows how many other patients and customers that they supposedly care for and deal with.
I’m leaving this review with the hope Tameside vets takes a hard look within and actively changes their ways and rises from this with empathy, much kinder and understanding.
This vet practice is a disgrace !!!
This is worst vet I have ever been to, my dog had 5 fatty lumps removed, 10 days after surgery I took him to have stitches out, the nurse asked Me where the stitches were, I told her maybe she should have read notes before seeing my dog needless to say I wasn't impressed with this unprofessional approach, I was told all stitches were removed, 4 days later I discovered stitches growing out of closed wounds, I contacted the vets where I was informed my 12 year old dog would have to have another procedure under sedation, I was not happy at all as putting my beloved dog through another sedation due to their incompetence, I received no apology and vets attitude was disgusting, after this procedure I went to pick my dog up to be told he had chewed through both his harness and lead and was not offered a replacement or apology, 2 weeks go by and I notice more stitches growing from healed wounds, this time I refuse to take him back again no apology or explanation how this has happened...
This vets is a disgrace with no thought to animals suffering due to their incompetence, no apology, and a totally horrible experience for both me and my beloved dog. I strongly suggest you do not use this vet if you care for your animals.....
Disappointed !
Disappointed !! I weighed my dog before his Castration on a professional set of scales
He was 24.8kg offered to weigh him before the procedure in the surgery reception .
The nurse said no need and the cost would be £208 …..
On collection the price had rose to £258 when I queried this they said he was over 25kg
What is more worrying the pain killer they have prescribed says he’s 26kg - obviously he is nowhere near that weight
This is totally unprofessional of a vet to prescribe on an inflated weight to over charge the owner an extra £50
I am absolutely disgusted and the worse thing is I preempted this would happen and wish I had taken heed of these negative comments
First things the friendly staff bad management
First things the front desk staff are friendly and the vets seem lovely. However the management group seem to be only money focus to a point it transcends boundaries of pet care. Our dog had premiere insurance, however seeing one vet put on his record he was lame even when we went back two weeks later and it had gone (obvious pull front muscle), plus a yeast infection in his rear leg. The management team decided we had to pay up front (because of their mistake) anything up to six thousand pounds for a cruciate ligament operation a year later, because that vet had left and so records could not be change, and they didn't want to take a chance even when the insurance was happy, seeing this would be a first claim for this condition. The x-ray alone was going to be £1300. Lucky we found another charity non-management run group to do the procedure using the same specialist surgeon. X-ray was £300! This after the dog was in pain for 2 weeks. If you’re going to use them I would recommend double check everything the vet puts on your animal record, and also have very deep pockets, because they come across as more money oriented then animal care.
Total lack of support
All of a sudden they have decided to stop issuing animal health certificates and we needed one because we were leaving the UK with our dog and we had no choice but to get one. They told us they were sorry and to sort it out ourselves by calling other vets to see if they were willing to do it even if not registered with them (spoiler: most are not). I’ve asked for an exception given we are relocating or wether they had any partner and they said they were sorry as it was a “senior management decision”.
Reason for 1* is I’ve been on the phone…
Reason for 1* is I’ve been on the phone to get my dog in for ear infection since Friday was told no appointments told to ring back Saturday which I have done to be told all appointments have gone to emergencies but was told that 3 appointments are available for Sunday but they can’t book my dog in as I have to ring back Sunday morning to see if 1 appointment might be available I was gobsmacked as to what I was listening to I said to the receptionist I’ve always used this practice for years & for the past few months this place has been poorly run I was told that there is only 1 vet on (really) it’s a practice I said I could understand it if it was a 1 vet practice but it’s not … so fingers crossed he can get an appointment tomorrow (highly unlikely)
Took our very poorly cat Ole tonight
Took our very poorly cat Ole tonight. Not in a carrier but they didn’t tell us off !
Met a lovely dr who had to tell us how poorly our cat was….. as suspected.
We and Ole were treated with much love and compassion. Thank you x
Seemingly money oriented
ive been using this vets for some years for both my cat and dog. it wasn’t until after my dogs first dental operation removing 19 teeth that i realised what a money making empire this actually was. after ‘capping’ his operation at £500 i received an invoice adding up to over £800 with each individual item noted on the invoice. naively at this time i assumed they’d done me a favour. 18 months later and his remaining teeth were again painful and decaying i complained to the vets that aside from having to pay yet again so soon for something they should’ve done right to begin with, i was having to traumatise my old dog by putting him through another operation. they agreed to ‘cap’ the operation at £400. how generous right?
i took him for a second opinion at the animal trust who offered to do the same operation for £185 as all the teeth should’ve been removed the first time. obviously i couldn’t refuse this price and when i told tameside vets they said they couldn’t match the price. i never assumed they could, so i booked him in with the animal trust. 2 hours later i had tameside vets on the phone again saying they COULD match the price of £185!!! how much money is this vets making if they can justify a payment of £185 for what appeared to be an £800 procedure??
this is just the tip of the iceberg unfortunately. my dog suffered a vestibular episode in 2019, which i googled and researched and then took him to the vet for a check up. they didn’t even check in his ears which is the first thing that could cause the nystagmus and dizziness he’d experienced. instead they charged me £180 for a blood test and told me he was going to have a seizure which naturally alarmed me. no mention of old dog vestibular disease that i had found myself with a bloody google search! i worried of course, he’s my best mate, but it comes to something when the layman is educating the vet on matters of dog health!
i wouldn’t be writing this post now if i hadn’t just tried to obtain a prescription of advocate for my cat that they have been providing for years with nothing more than a weight, to be told that they won’t do the prescription until they’ve seen her. they have not only increased their prescription charges but reduced the amount of advocate i can obtain with the prescription from 12 months to 6.
i simply cannot justify paying for a consultation that i don’t need (my cat is healthy and well) and then paying for the inflated prescription for a mere 6 months of flea treatment.
i feel like they because they haven’t seen me for a while and spent my money with them that maybe they should add on a few extras to get some money in. i have now removed both of my pets from this practice. i never see the same vet twice and all they seem to want is my money, they could care less about my pets.
Hyde & Ashton branches
Hyde & Ashton branches.
My dog attends the Hyde surgery usually. They have always been attentive and lovely, and look after my dog amazingly. Appointments are never a problem, and they are always willing to accommodate my time slots. The service this time however, was exceptional. Vet surgeon Shareen Akhtar and her advice was literally life saving for my dog. I trusted her entirely, and the post surgery conversations and treatment with Dr Akhtar has been overwhelming to say the least. I honestly cannot thank her enough.
