Paid my excess fee and extra to bring premiums up to date. Asked me to jump through loads if obsticales obtaining all sorts for them to decline on basis "i didn't bring my claim within 24 hours" taking it all the way to ombudsman

Please can someone tell the claim team to respond to my last email? I dropped this email on 26 September and I have made a claim 77 days ago.
If I could give zero stars I would. I genuinely feel ripped off right now. Please whatever you do dont touch this company or their partners NOVADIRECT with a barge pole! I have paid premiums for almost 4 years and when I needed them they screwed me over. I dropped my samsung galaxy note 10 and it was badly damaged. I made a claim and I had to provide:
- Confirmation of the Network that the device is on
- Repair estimate and damage report from an authorised repairer
- Details of any finance used to purchase the device
- Proof of purchase
- Proof of usage from your network provider
- Images of the damaged device
Id challenge anyone to be able to fulfill these steps as we all dispose of documentation.
I finally managed it though and at that stage the thieving characters at this company agreed to pay out. Not against market value or against 2nd hand value at reputable shops but against the lowest value they could find on GUMTREE!!! This means my phone is virtually worthless and we all know gumtree is a means for many (not all) to fence stolen goods at knock down prices as fast as possible. Disgusted utterly raging cannot speak to a human and NOVADIRECT wont speak and put the blame on PEX i didnt pay my premiums to PEX i paid them to nova! What a joke a total rip off DO NOT BUY FROM NOVA OR PEX IF YOU DO ON YOUR HEAD BE IT. i expect PEX to respond to this saying i agreed to terms buried somewhere when i signed up. Sure as hell i agreed to a gumtree valuation!!! I also expect them to say they havent had my contact details which would be a lie also. They refuse to accept that gumtree is an unacceptable medium to compare 2nd hand costs with.

Edit - after finally agreeing to payout against gumtree models I was told 7 to 14 days to get payment this is day 16 no payout yet and no responses to emails!!
Absolute scammers. Can’t believe they are in business operating this way. Avoid at all costs. I paid for a motor vehicle breakdown policy. My car lost all coolant on a busy motorway when stuck in traffic. The car overheated and warned me to stop immediately. I called for breakdown assistance. the call handler told me to start the engine and pull forward 1 metre. I explained that I didn’t want to start the engine with no coolant in it as it may damage the engine. The handler said it would be ok to start the car briefly just to check it could be moved. I did as I was asked and was subsequently told that my claim was denied as their definition of a breakdown in the policy wording is that the vehicle is immovable/cannot be moved. How ridiculous, I bought ‘breakdown’ cover. By their definition I could have suspension failure, a front wheel missing and the steering rack broken but because the car can move it’s not a breakdown. I was left stranded on a busy motorway intersection at night. I could have been killed. It took me two and a half hours before I could get the car and myself out of danger!

As a lot of other people here have commentated this company (and the affiliated Nova Direct) has incredibly poor customer service. I’ve been waiting for about 6 weeks for a repaired phone screen and still haven’t got a final response. It’s well worth paying a little more to go with a decent insurance provider.

Would give it no stars!
Appalling service.
Do not use!
This company operates as Nova Direct offering breakdown insurance etc. After cancelling renewal they still proceeded to extract renewal premium form our account and despite all efforts refuse to refund it. They don't like bad reviews and will attempt to block them in any way they can.

I tried to claim against my iPhone XR I’ve never had so much trouble and rude customer service. The lady on the phone was almost disgusted I asked her to look into turn around time for my phone claim and simply replied with “your not are only claim” £50 excess to waste two weeks of pointless emails.
Worst company I have ever dealt with. After 15 emails they have still not processed my legitimate claim after breaking down abroad. They have now ignored the last 5 emails. Close this company down ASAP.
Avoid… after paying out £50 excess then paying off the premiums of £38 this is before any claim has been excepted at all, then I had to pay for my own check a mend certificate at another cost! then you have to wait at least 3 days for them to get back to you as they only deal online. I was told that my claim wouldn’t be excepted as I didn’t validate my policy correctly! As I had sent a screen shot of my IMEI number. So now they won’t pay out will offer me £75 but it’s been 7 days still haven’t received it and still without a phone.. sent two emails no response!!!
DO NOT PURCHASE ANY INSURANCE WITH THIS COMPANY. ABSOLUTE SCAMMERS. Will be taking this further.

Should have read these reviews before dealing with company scam artists yes and in that 6 hours before making a decision you have withdrawn the insurance excess on the 28 also despite having an agreed direct debit you have tried against the direct mandate to withdraw more money and despite having an legal instalment plan you are insisting that all premiums are paid up in advance therefore before my claim is decided !!!!!!! You want to take over £100 for a repair or replacement I always thought insurance was ment to prevent things like this just makes you wonder how you operate car or house insurance this is not insurance please read English Oxford dictionary for the definition of insurance. Now that this company has forced me to not carry on with my claim they are now ignoring my requests for the insurance excess to be refunded as they are not for filling their side of the agreement it is funny how quickly they took the excess (as stated within 6-24 honours of claim) but now they are not even acknowledging my requests for refund very professional I do not think. I have now had register a complaint concerning this company with the FSA they sending a report on this companies unethical business practices also advise anyone who has a problem with this company to contact their CEO a Mr Byron Shepherd.talk about money grabbers they now want a £10 charge to officially cancel their policy that they are in breach of thank God for the FSA they have raised an official complaint and on the evidence I have provided have authorised full refund of all monies thank you to a professional company.

Like all others I can only say avoid. I have an insurance excess claim outstanding since November 2020 and despite too many phone calls to count, supplying duplicate copies of paper work we are now May and still not paid. Worse still they are now "in meetings" when I call so no one to speak to. So I can take it to the financial ombusman which I have done. Do not touch.

Avoid, they will make any excuse not to pay out. I bought a gadget insurance for Samsung Note 10, when the phone fell and the screen got broken, it took over 2 weeks to process the claim, sending at least 6 documents making a mammoth effort to actually comply with their request, only for it to get rejected, saying broken screen is cosmetic damage and is not covered under accidental damage clause. My advice is to avoid this company and go with someone more reputable. Upon my complaint, customer service promised a refund of my policy, however it never materialised. Just another excuse in order for me not to leave bad review.

This company and its partner company nova direct will take any path to not pay out claims then auto renew your policy with out asking and charge you £10 to cancel.
I had gadget cover with them, my phone got damaged, I reported it to the email they provide on the policy and booked an appointment at the apple shop (which took 2 days because of COVID) to confirm the phone was broken and not covered by warranty. After it was confirmed the phone was broken I tried to make a claim. After a month of back and forth asking for documents one at a time. They decided to decline the claim as they say I didn’t get a checkmend form within 24 of the phone breaking. Not taking into account the difficulty in knowing that with apple shop appointments so hard to come by. I have been given no option but to report them to the financial ombudsmen but I urge everybody buying this product to reconsider and go with anybody else. I have never experienced a pair of companies so difficult to deal with and so unsympathetic to their customers.
They also charge you £10 to cancel your policy I assume because so many people do once they realise that they are being scammed.

I am absolutely furious with this company. Taken £150 off me for nothing. I now have a broken phone and no money to buy a new one.
Will be taking further action in this regard. Customer service talk to you like you are scum of the earth when really they are only interested in taking your money and not helping you at all.
This company needs taking down
This company needs taking down - they are complete cowboys and I struggle to see how anyone could give them anything but 1 star in their reviews - they must be fake reviews. They make you jump through hoops - take an extraordinary amount of time to deal with your claim only to find a loophole where they do not have to pay out. I have reported them to the financial ombudsman and I would encourage other dissatisfied customers to do the same, so they can be taken to court. If I could give them zero stars I would
If you go to pex insure you will see the real reviews for this company. Nova is just a cover for the very same company they are the same. As soon as you make a claim this is who deals with it - PEX INSURE - don't do it. Trust the negative reviews and NOT the positive ones as they look suspicious to me as they seem to be done in gluts in certain periods - perhaps they have paid for them? Heed my warning

I purchased Nova Breakdown Cover. Just to compare, every other breakdown service I have used has a 14 day cooldown period where you can cancel and a no claim policy in the first 48 hours. Nova has a no claim period of 30 DAYS. Now I admit I should have read the small print but I didn't expect them to be different from literally everyone else. Unfortunately my car would not start so i called them . I was 16 days into the policy so they refused to come out. I was also too late to cancel. So I paid the money, they are refusing to provide the service and I can't get a refund. Because of this clause you pay for a year but really only get 11 months. To add insult to injury I received an email saying they would not respond to any further call outs unless I had proof from a certified garage that the fault had been repaired. So now they have taken my money and are refusing to provide any service at all.
Do not use this company. Recently damaged my phone and cracked the screen. Tried to make a claim for a screen repair. Had to pay excess up front. It took a further 20days for them to reject the claim. As the phone was still "usable". Terrible customer service, I had to send multiple emails to get a response. Worm there way out of paying out anything.

AVOID AT ANY COST !!!! This company is really scamers. Refusing to acknowledge damage... Broken screen is classified as cosmetics...so no repair. Read review and do not insure with this company... Cheap and not worth it... Unfortunately I didn't read reviews....
