Idiots who can’t unlock accounts
Just to unlock your account and update a contact information, it’s taken me 4 days, waiting hours in the phone and my issue is still not resolved. The last representative told us she is hanging up on us because I was dialed into the call and not calling myself. The representatives are rude and complete idiots. They have no idea how to complete such mediocre tasks. The company needs to clean house and hire people who can do their jobs. I am not contributing to this company anymore.

SCAMERS!!!! 0 is not an option for review. I have $800 I've been trying to get sent to me after closing my account. After the 4th time trying to get a check sent to me I found out today that they are working from the Philippines.
Cant verify my address for the check to be sent to and they say I must read it to them first... Every time I call they say oh I'll cancel the check and send a new one. started this process in September 2024... Still no check!

Worst company I've ever dealt with
Worst company I've ever dealt with. My retirement health savings account was started years ago by my school corporation. I have $16,000 in my account that I cannot use. Why? Each time you use the debit card to pay for legit healthcare, they require you to produce a receipt with five pieces of information. No other HSA requires this. While they make it a pain to gather all the information, I have done it multiple times to have it rejected. Why? Wait for this! It's because the pages weren't numbered consecutively. What? They admitted they had the information they needed, but I could be putting together two claims. This makes no sense. Why would I screw myself by only getting reimbursement for one claim by combining two? What a load! None of the three doctors have a system that allows a printed receipt plus all the other info they require. They claim this is for tax purposes, yet no other HSA requires this. After multiple times of submitting the same claim (five times for one), I called to see how to roll over my account to another bank. I was told I cannot because it was started by my school corporation. If I died tomorrow, all my money would roll back to the corporation, so both Optum and my corporation have incentive to see me never given this money and to see me die. When one calls to complain, you are connected to someone from/in India with heavy accents who you cannot understand. This is every single time. I cannot tell you how angry I am, how my blood pressure goes up, and how my frustration leads to me find every place possible to write a review and educate people on what is wrong with this company. There is absolutely NOTHING right about them. Here's a fabulous piece of information: The parent company to Optum is United Health Care. Yep, this is the company that is so rotten it's CEO was murdered. Hum. I wonder why. People are sick of this crap. Optum's CEO's are presently still listed online, but it's my guess they will soon be removed once everyone realizes their connection to the ever horrible, evil, criminal United Health Care. (The date below is a guess as I tried multiple days, weeks, and months dealing with them.)

This is the worst FSA account I have ever had. 3 of my previous accounts with more reputable banks allowed use of debit card for the full term plus a grace period. This one I was only able to use the debit card for less than 4 months (even at optums OWN FSA store. after that they want you to pay out of pocket then invoice the FSA account why? Well so they can deny and keep the money of course. Smells like racketeering to me. well that was a $2500 lesson learned. Criminal enterprise if you ask me. I've never seen an FSA account so complicated with so much personal legwork to do. Good luck to anyone else that gets wrapped up in this ridiculous three card monte scheme.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. They removed eyeglass money from my transit account and will not reimburse. And my Optum Card does not work anymore. They say terminals are down in NYC and DC. Every review that is bad has great merit. I highly advise against using them. I cannot get my money at this point.
They inappropriately closed my account…
They inappropriately closed my account when I rolled over my balance to an external account, even though contributions were still being sent to my OPTUM account. Apparently it's "impossible" to re-open the account, and they can't say what's happening to the contributions being deducted from my paycheck.
Support apparently ignored my request to cancel the transfer (they responded no transfer had ever been requested before promptly doing the transfer and closing my account, which again, I never asked for or expected). They were also rude. A chat bot would have been more personable and at as least helpful (roughly not at all).

They suck!!!!! They will not let me change the address that they put in because it has not been a year. They put the address in wrong. Can't get the hsa card and the app doesn't work to pay bills
Go with another provider if you have a choice
App is horrible, customer service is abysmal, and claim reviewing is never consistent. I usually have to submit my claims multiple times to get items that are obviously covered approved because whoever reviews the claims can't be bothered to know better or look at my documentation.

Hope you don’t need to change your address. You change it with one person to be told a card was sent. Lie.
You call and they “re update” your address and express a card to be there in 2-3 business days. Lie.
Third person says your address was JUST updated and you must wait 7-10 business days.
It’s NOT process and procedure to issue a new card when the old one expires which caused this whole thing to start
Can’t pay providers on their site because none show up, so I was advised to just make a payment and reimburse myself. Wow so that gets lost in the mail too? What’s the point of an HSA if I can’t use my money to pay my providers?
Absolutely done contributing to my HSA and pulling every dime from my account. Reporting it to my HR as well since they selected them.
Had a Optum MSA thru Lasso Health
Had a Optum MSA thru Lasso Health. Ended Lasso Health 1 Jan 2023 and sent a provided form in to close MSA. Fast forward to March 2024 and I received a email from Optum band telling me that I was overdrawn by $2.75. I had to load an app to find out it was an acct. Maint fee. Nowhere in the app is a method to close the acct. So I had to call their Help line and speak with a heavily accented person to get this cancelled. If you are considering doing bizness with Optum Bank, Don't!!!!

Unable to access funds in OptumBank HSA account. Customer support is useless despite multiple attempts to get help resolving the issue. I just closed my account and sent OptumBank the following message:

I have spent enough time by this point to come to the understanding that I will not receive any meaningful support for this issue. I do not wish to spend one more second out of my life waiting on some clueless customer support rep in Malaysia who has no power and from what I can tell, nobody to escalate the issue to, to help me resolve the issue.
I have been an account holder with OptumBank for more than a decade and feel fortunate that I have never previously been forced to spend any time in the hell that is your customer support help line.
As a result of what I now consider in the 65th year of my life to be the all-time worst customer support experience I have ever had, I will be seeking a suitable trophy to have made and will forward if you can please supply the name of the executive with OptumBank who is responsible for the asinine policies manifested by the company's blatant contempt for its customers.

Sub-optimal
Service has declined markedly. I used to like OptumBank for hassle-free HSA transactions. With their switch to new debit cards, I've been on the phone with their customer center 9 times, their secure message portal twice, and the health care provider multiple times, but Optum has still not paid the provider. More frustratingly, the money has been removed from my available balance. Where is my money? Optum promises me each time they will "escalate" my case, and I'll receive a callback from a supervisor. It's been five business days, and not a single word back from Optum.

Terrible customer service that suffer from amnesia, a complete lack of accountability, repeated failure to do what they say they will, and a propensity for either fraud or incompetence.
