We are trying to raise funds via equity release, and wasted five months with a couple of providers who rejected our application due to its non-standard construction. Our property is relatively new, eco-friendly and sustainable, we had future-proofed our home. After two rejections we were put on to Richard Wylder via Unbiased.co.uk, who was prompt in contacting us following our initial enquiry. Richard was able to access all the equity release providers, and, not knowing much about our building construction, found out all he needed to from us, and asked for photos for include with his enquiry, aiming to be as comprehensive as possible to prospective lenders. He was open and upfront, professional, and did not 'beat about the bush', advising that we were not likely to be successful. He explained why he felt this, so not raising any unrealistic expectations. He forwarded all the responses, promptly. Unfortunately he was right and we have been unsuccessful. Richard has however been able to offer an alternative that we hadn't considered. We are currently re-thinking our plans. He also explained that, from his perspective, he felt he had gained knowledge about non-standard construction so be in a better position to advise others in the future who may be experiencing the same difficulties as us. We would happily contact Richard again should we require financial advice in any area.

As a first time buyer things in the housing market are not always as clear as you'd like. A True Five Star Company

Having contacted several companies dealing in Equity Release without success, I was greatly encouraged by Richard Wylder’s helpful approach at Mortgage And Equity.

Part of the first floor of our property is situated over a Design & Lifestyle Shop and when Equity Release involves a retail unit, this usually proves a non-starter for most financial institutions. Richard however, thought he may know of a company who might fulfil our requirements and said he’d get back to us within 24 hours.

True to his word he called me with the news that he had found two companies willing to look at our property. Both were household names so we were pleased it wasn’t some Russian company with a name like ‘Trust me’!

Tom Evans later contacted me and arranged for a solicitor, at a very competitive rate, to meet my wife and myself and complete legalities for the proposed lender’s solicitor. The interest rate Tom negotiated was very acceptable considering the fact that there were only two companies competing for the business and they were both willing to proceed.

During the six weeks it took to bring our finical request to fruition I found Tom and Richard to be totally professional. They showed great tenacity and provided updates when they said they would. They addressed potential obstacles which they viewed as challenges and maintained a positive, purposeful attitude and retained a great sense of humour throughout.

I started the process of equity release last year in order to raise funds to repair and improve my very tired house. Unfortunately the parts of my home that needed the most work were the parts that prevented me from obtain the funds.

When I first found Richard Wylder as a mortgage broker, I'd had a lot of problems, mostly due to a local authority's computer systems being hacked, and was on the point of losing both my sale and purchase. But Richard came up with a scheme, and although I was wary at first, he went to a huge amount of trouble to help me, and did get me the deal I wanted.
