I bought a shed from MCD back in 2019 and dealt with Martin Blacksell. 3 years later and I am just as happy with the shed as when I bought it, and got in touch with Martin for the best way to deconstruct and rebuild it as I plan to move and want to take it with me. He responded very quickly with very helpful instructions and advice. Very good aftersales service.

What a fantastic company, professional from start to finish, I had just had a really bad experience with a different company and to be honest I was a little apprehensive with starting again. Absolutely no need to worry Joanne and her colleagues were brilliant, best customer service I’ve had in a long time thank you MCD.

Cannot praise this company enough, from deciding which summer house was suitable to the installation.
Staff worked so hard to build my summer house, no breaks , just got on with it.

I bought an 8x6 shed from MCD and also added their timber EZbase. I'm glad we did as my husband had laid a concrete base but it was not as level as we thought it was.
The shed itself is very good quality and the best we've seen... believe me we've been to what feels like every shed company in the North of England. The fitters were lovely and friendly and left no mess. The office team are so helpful and very knowledgeable. Thank you MCD, we have already recommended you to friends and family!

Delighted with our new garden chalet which was installed today by Steve & Connor. A very professional service from placing the order to the chalet being delivered - thank you Martin & crew, highly recommended.

Our garden room is exactly what we wanted. The build quality and the materials are excellent.
The installers were efficient and very friendly and the made sure we were happy at every stage. e.g. carefully marking where we wanted the lights, plug sockets etc.
We previously had a cycle shed from MCD. This is also a high quality product and gave us the confidence to buy the garden room.
As an addendum: when the bike shed was installed we were not at home. When we first saw it we noticed the roof was creased.(probably the securing straps on the van had been overtightened) we rang MCD, sent a picture and they came the following day with a new roof. It's not mistakes that define a company. It's what they do to put things right!

Firstly, we purchased our shed and summerhouse from MCD on the basis of the numerous positive reviews on Trustpilot. And I can see that lots of people have had good experiences. However, if you happen to be one of the unfortunate people, where things do not go to plan, MCD seem unable, or unwilling, to repair the fault.

Having immediately alerted MCD at the time of fitting that the shed door was warped, we were told to wait and see if it straightened out. Once warped, wood Never straightens out and usually gets much worse over time. However the fitters screwed the door to the frame and left us to 'see how it goes'. Inevitably it was still warped several weeks later.
We wrote to MCD who wrote back saying it was 'within a tolerable limit'?
I cant think that any door which doesnt shut properly is tolerable. Surely that defies the whole purpose of a door?

So we then sent the letter below.

Dear Martin,

We received your email to our correspondence regarding the warped shed door on our recent purchase.

Having followed all your instructions and sent the video and photos we are very disappointed to receive your reply which does not actually address the problem. As far as we are aware there is no such term as ‘within the tolerance for external timber’ on any of the information we have received. Indeed, if this had been a part of your sales information we would not have purchased the item from you.

No door should be warped as it compromises the strength and main function, which is security and weather-proofing. And at no point were we told that it might not fit properly.

We purchased and paid for two new sheds which we expected to arrive and be fitted in new condition. The door to the large shed is warped. It arrived in this condition. It is therefore faulty. We told this to the fitters who wrote this on the paperwork. You asked us to immediately tell you of any discrepancies, which we did.

As we said in our letter :
‘In our experience, we are concerned that the warp will only get worse over time and so want to rectify the situation before that happens’.


In the spirit of goodwill we did not complain about the surly attitude of one of the fitters, or complain about the dreadful dirty state that they left the summer house floor in. We also provided you with a way of getting the door to us, and, at our own time and expense of fitting it.

Having paid your company over £7692 we request that you act honourably, within the terms of the purchase and replace the faulty door.

We didn't receive a reply. Six weeks later the struts started to ease away from the frame on the door. We again wrote to let them know about the problem and received this bizarre reply.

'We're glad to see that as we advised there has been no more movement of the door and that you have followed our advice regarding the weatherproofing'.

This twisting of the truth seemed very strange, but I guess they just didn't want to repair the damage and so sought to manipulate the facts.

They then sent various documents on how to maintain the wood.

MCD do provide a good product. But, should something go wrong their after sales service, firstly blames the customer and secondly doesn't get fixed.

I am aware that Martin and MCD may reply to this - and I'm sure, as I can see from other reviews, they will find a way to blame us.
However we only wanted what we paid for, and that was for them to replace the warped door. They found every excuse possible and refused to do so. It's not a good way to treat customers.

It is a great shame as they have a decent product.

UPDATE:
As I mentioned, the reply below is entirely predictable, takes no responsibilty, and blames the customer.

No business provides a flawless service all the time, and it is the sign of a grown up business that can accept its mistakes, correct them and move on. If only MCD had spent the same amount of effort correcting the problem as it has denying the probelm existed.

They state:
'Your door does shut properly, it did after it was installed, and the last time you contacted us, it still did. Your photos proved this'.

This is not true. The original receipt, of which I have a copy, clearly states at the point of delivery that the door is warped and thats why the fitters screwed it in to the frame to try and straighten it. I also have a photo of this.

Neither Martin, nor anyone else has been to inspect the door so it is disingenuous to say there isnt a problem.

You can't truthfully bend 'facts' anymore that you can make a warped door straight.

We simply wanted what we had paid for and asked MCD to replace the faulty door. Their response is to deny a problem exists and hide behind clauses and paperwork.

If you are one of the lucky ones, and all goes well, then great. If, as is always going to be the case, there is a difficulty or something needs resolving, dont expect MCD to sort it out or take any responsibility.

We ordered a Combo Summer House & Shed from MCD in the middle of April. They were extremely helpful all the way for a visit to their showroom to the point at which we placed our our. This included a couple of changes we need to our requirements along the way. Great service and support from Joanne and the team throughout. The unit was delivered on the arranged day and the two man installation team were very efficient and got it installed really quickly. They kept checking with us for location of everything, from the base to the internal fittings. An excellent job all round and we very are pleased with out new Garden feature.

I ordered the shed and was given an approximate time for delivery. This was met and I was informed when the shed was due to arrive. The shed and installers turned up on time. They were professional, efficient and hard working. They must have had a long day, having driven to Glasgow before arriving at ours, North West Cumbria.
The shed was erected speedily and competently. I was VERY PLEASED when I inspected it. The materials are much stronger than many sheds advertised. I was impressed by the use of breather membranes on all the interior surfaces and the strength and appearance of the shed. I must compliment the installers for their work ethic and work. Well done to them.
The whole process from ordering to delivery was easy and effortless.
I would recommend MCD (and have) to anyone who requires a shed.

Had my shed delivered and erected yesterday.The service I have received from MCD has been excellent from coming to the showroom to choose the one that I wanted to the delivery and fitting.
Everything was on time and I was kept informed all through the process.

I've just had my cottage style shed delivered and assembled ,can't say how pleased I am with the whole process from start to finish ,the lady on the phone kept me informed and put back the delivery whilst I waited for my drive to be completed .The guys who assembled really fast and friendly and the quality is amazing , definitely recommend ,I researched prices too before my purchase and they were the best ! Great purchase highly recommend!!!

Very happy with my 12 x 8 cottage garden shed installed 2 weeks ago in Rush Co Dublin. Mark was very helpful on my initial visit to the on site office as was Derek on day of delivery and construction which took 2 hours. Quality product.

Would highly recommend this company! Best on the market that we saw by far! We looked at many other companies summerhouses but these were the nicest quality by a mile! Worth every penny and the entire process was effortless! Our neighbour is planning to get one too!

Started off fine and when fitted, the fitters messed up on the doors causing warping. Several attempts later, still not corrected properly and dozens of contact and photos and over a year plus later, now been told to get stuffed and they don't intend fixing their errors in fitting and will not entertain any further contact from me.
That email was a disgrace putting blame on me for their mistakes. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour and don't go anywhere near this lot.
Following a reply from the company it only reiterates my feedback as I understand what they say but ultimately if I spend several thousands of pounds on a product, I expect it to be perfect and when fitted wrong causing issues then I expect it to be sorted. Yes they have come to try and rectify but not satisfactorily. Turned up with warped replacement Doors and latest replacement creates a constant rattle of the door which can't be right even in the slightest of winds.
They say it is correct and I disagree. I hold to my original feedback as no resolution seems possible.

From start to finish, great service. Design was easy and made to our requirements. Guys on site were prompt, courteous and worked so hard. Product is great. Great quality. We are really pleased and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Our shed was delivered and installed a few months ago very pleased a couple of issues were sorted straight away. Wish we had room for a larger model.

We are really, really pleased with both the service and the product that we have received from MCD Garden Sheds and would recommend them onwards without reservation. The product was handled with care during the fitting process and, we were amazed at how tidy the fitters were and how seamlessly they worked together as a team, each knowing what the other was doing and when. Although we have had sheds built in the past by other people, we were flabbergasted at how quickly it was erected and how little mess was created and then cleared before the property was vacated. It is a rarity to receive the sort of workmanship and service that we have received from the team from the outset via sales administration and fitting well done to all of you.

MCD Home & Garden UK are the best in the business. Fabulous products and brilliant customer service. Nothing is too much trouble, both before and after sales.

Yesterday I received my 8x8 ft garden chalet....I am really pleased with it. This is my second building from MCD Home & Garden and each time I have had excellent service. The fitters were brilliant...on time, tidy work, polite, efficient and friendly.
