We booked this trip over 12 months ago Italy on a train for my 60th Birthday/ Anniversary. It was a dream come true and the organisation and support from the team of Marvellous Escapes was exceptional.
When my paperwork came there was so much it overwhelmed me but when I called they went through everything with me and reassured me.
I couldn’t check in my return flights and after several attempts I called up again and they were downloaded and sent to me.
I had concerns over the trains and connections but true to there word, the trains were like catching buses and so easy and all your connections were displayed on the trains before you got off the one you were on.

Contacted Great Escapes after feeling somewhat overwhelmed with the myriad of Swiss rail holidays on offer. Gave Hayley an idea of some of the towns we wanted to see as well as the Bernina line. With 24 hours Hayley had put together a 12 night detailed itinerary including, flights, well positioned hotels, several scenic rail journeys plus extra excursions.
Hayley had clearly listened to my requests and factored them all in. Fantastic service and a great holiday to look forward to.

From my initial contact to booking our holiday, I have been so very impressed with Laurie and her team. She worked very hard to organise our perfect holiday and stayed late to complete our booking. Can’t wait for the holiday to start as our itinerary to Switzerland seems perfect!

Just booked Norway in a nutshell 8 day tour with the help of Hayley, at first contact she listened to what we wanted from our trip and made suggestions to guide our choice. She has planned our itinerary, sorted local flights, found best deals for accommodation and sorted travel to explore country, and short sightseeing tours to get the most out of our trip.

We started with a very friendly and attentive booking process. Hayley was so kind and enthusiastic. As we got closer to our holiday we received timely and clear updates with reasons for changes that needed to be made to our holiday plans due to changes in the train schedules. This was all handled on our behalf and upgrades to our travel arrangements were made at no increase in cost as compensation, a very nice touch. The location and quality of hotels chosen met or exceeded our expectations. The locations were ideal for walking to local attractions, restaurants and transport links. The tours/trips prearranged on our behalf were well organised and tour guides were experienced and informative. When we had our only hiccup of the holiday, our train to Milan had to terminate at an earlier station due to an incident on the line, Hayley was immediately available via WhatsApp and directly via telephone to ‘hold our hand’ through the process of getting another train and an alternative onward connection as well. It didn’t spoil the holiday, just added to the experience. I would have no hesitation to recommend Marvellous Escapes and intend to use them again. You do pay a premium for the service but we felt it was well worth it for the personalised service, experience and professionalism, great holiday !

We had a great experience with Marvellous Escapes. From our first contact they listened to what we wanted, made changes to the itinerary accordingly, kept us fully in the picture and provided an excellent holiday for us at the right price. During our holiday there was a National rail strike and Marvellous Escapes were outstanding in sorting things out and keeping us on track. A special thanks to Hayley, who was excellent. Both Paul and Danielle were genuinely enthusiastic in helping us plan our holiday, taking into account our hopes rather than simply telling us what they had planned for others. The hotels and add on experiences were great and it was good to know they were available 24/7 had the need arisen.

Recently booked a 5 day trip to Zermatt/St Moritz including the Glacier Express Excellence Class. Olivia provided quick answers to any queries I had and was happy to make changes as we went through the quote. They were able to secure guaranteed seats in excellence class well ahead of travel allowing to look forward to my trip without having to worry about anything. I would highly recommend.

I told Hayley what wanted we from a holiday in Switzerland and what our budget was. She sorted everything and added some delightful extras within budget. Thank you Hayley for sorting our holiday. It was truly amazing. Everything fell into place and it was lovely not to have any concerns. Getting everything both in the post and electronically was also extremely helpful.

The hotel in Zermatt had a free Spa which was a lovely bonus.

We loved the Hotel Laudinella in St. Moritz. Terrific breakfast and very helpful staff. Free shuttle from the station was also really helpful. The free 2 day pass for bus and cable car travel was also a lovely surprise and meant we went up to Pis Nair which was .beautiful.

Great service from Paul and the team. During our rail tour holiday there was a rail strike. We didn't realise this but Paul let us know the evening before and already had plans in place to get us to our next destination. A driver was quickly booked for us. It was such a relief to have the support and we would definitely book again. Thank you.

From the very first phone call to the follow up call in our return, Marvellous Escapes were an absolute pleasure to deal with. Having booked a lot of holidays, the personal touch from travel agents has sadly lessened, but you certainly get a personal, tailored experience with Marvellous Escapes. We have just returned from a 10 day trip around Switzerland visiting Zurich, St Moritz, Zermatt, Montreux and Interlaken, enjoying the magnificent Bernina Express, Glacier Express, Gornergrat Railway, Goldenpass Express and Jungfraujoch. A once in a lifetime experience that we’ll never forget. I can’t recommend ME enough and we’ll definitely be booking with them again when we do a similar trip around Italy. Five stars all round!

Spectacular 11 night trip visiting Zurich Chur Zermatt Montreux Interlaken and finally Lucerne before returning back to Zurich all organised to perfection by Marvellous Escapes! Every hotel was superb and within easy walk of the train stations so no need to use any other means of transportation. Both the Glacier Express and GoldenPass Express fabulous rail journeys with outstanding scenery on both. One of the many advantages of the Swiss Pass is being able to jump onto one of the boats on the lakes for a free cruise which we did on both Lake Zurich to visit the Lindt Home of Chocolate and Lake Geneva to see Chateau de Chillon. SBB mobile app so easy and useful in identifying the correct platform your train departs from and how busy each carriage is expected to be. Looking forward to planning our next visit to this fabulous country with the help of Marvellous Escapes in the very near future!!
