I am very disappointed with my recent experience at Martin Gear Jewellers.

I previously had my necklace repaired and paid €20, but unfortunately it was still broken. I emailed the store on August 2 and was kindly told that I was a priority and that I should come back to the store.

When I returned, however, I felt that my explanation was not listened to and that I was not believed. The staff member repeatedly insisted that she had returned the necklace to me after the repair, while I was trying to explain that another member of staff had actually handed it back to me. There were other customers in the store at the time, which made the situation extremely uncomfortable and embarrassing for me.

I found the manner of both the owner and the lady staff member to be rude and dismissive. The owner offered to repair the necklace again but told me not to come back afterwards. Because of the way the situation was handled, I decided not to proceed with the repair.

What makes this particularly disappointing is that we had previously trusted this business. My husband purchased my engagement ring here when he asked me to marry him, and he has also purchased a necklace from the store.

I left feeling extremely upset, embarrassed and humiliated. I was so emotional afterwards. I have never experienced this kind of treatment in a jeweller’s before.

I am sharing this review simply because I believe customers should be treated with respect and given an opportunity to explain their side of a situation. Unfortunately, after this experience, I no longer feel comfortable returning to the store.

I cannot speak highly enough of Martin Gear Jewellers. They recently reset some stones into a pair of stud earrings for me and the result is absolutely fabulous — they completely exceeded my expectations. The workmanship is outstanding and the finished earrings are exactly what I had hoped for.

What impressed me even more was the price: their quote was less than half of another jeweller’s quote for the same work.

I also purchased a pair of earrings there yesterday and was delighted with the selection, quality and very competitive prices. The staff are lovely, friendly and extremely helpful.

If you’re in Mary Street, do yourself a favour and pop in. Highly recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Recently had a couple of repairs Done here, the staff were lovely and my rings were ready the following week.They did a Great job on them,like new,one was my mothers and was quiet old. It’s so nice to be able to wear it now 🥰they texted to let me know they were ready ,would highly recommend them.

Martin Gear Jewellers provides a fantastic customer experience. Got a fabulous diamond ring recently. Martin and his father made our beautiful engraved pendants for both our children 25 and 17 years ago. Beautiful pieces and memories to cherish. I decided to update my engagement ring in January 2025. There was only one place for me to go. Martin Gear Jewellers at 5 Mary St.
I've bought quite a few bits a pieces over the last few years. A necklace, a bracelet, some earrings. I've had rings resized also.
I went for a trilogy and I love it so much. I went back two weeks later to get a matching band.
I'm planning on getting a new eternity ring this year, so I'll be popping in to see them soon. Martin and Suzanne are both a pleasure to deal with. I really wouldn't go anywhere else 💍
