A job not so welldone
They came, this is Reece and Sam on the 7th October 2026 to fit their door that was going to replace a tilt-up retractable door. The lads did a good job, I paid them by visa, they took pictures and went away. It was later on that day that I realised that the electrical down cut-out was achieved only by the door only making contact at both extreme ends and not onto the concrete floor as it should have done, in other words this kind of door wasn't suitable as a replacement to my old tilt-up retractable door that made a seal with the outside end of the concrete floor, and therefore the only remedial was to extend the length of the concrete floor by at least 45mm, but to ensure a permanent fix to the old concrete it was decided to increase it to 65mm.
Because here no builders are prepared to take a job less than £1000+, I eventually got a friend of mine who lives minutes away to do the job for £450 cash in hand (of course) where the job was satisfactorily completed last Saturday 17th October.
This aggravating problem only resulted because the surveyor called Jamie was too determined to make a sale instead of telling me the truth that their door is not suitable for the length of my concrete floor.
I have contacted both their sales department and also Jamie with photos to prove the much needed alteration to the concrete floor if the door is to make a seal with the floor. I also requested that if they are a reputable company they should at least refund me 2/3 of the £450 (£300) ASAP. This was done yesterday 18th October, but still no reply from them. As soon as I have an update I will keep everyone informed.
This afternoon 22nd October I received a reply from their customer service and here is my reply:
Thanks for your reply that's full of BS as an excuse to put the blame on me. I know what I'm talking about to be correct, you don't.
I never said to Jamie that I was going to increase the length of the concrete floor, as for you saying 'the groundsworks was clearly underway' proves nothing at all. All I said to Jamie was that I was going to replace the left-hand side timber that had rotted away after the fitters have removed the old garage door, that's all.
The removal of parts of the slabs in front of the concrete floor was only to replace the bits of slabs with a more tidy raised concrete slope to the base and not as you say to extend the concrete floor. If I knew I had to increase the length of the concrete base to accomode your door, I would have never gone ahead with it.
Well, now we all know what you are about.
From: A very displeased customer.
