Hi Craig,

Sorry to hear you found some closed/finished competitions still "live" on Latest Deals.

As a community platform we rely on our lovely members to share competitions for the benefit of others. This means we have a huge number of great competitions on Latest Deals but does mean they aren't "live" - they're hopefully accurate as at the time a member shares it onto Latest Deals. If the competition host later changes details or ends the competition prematurely it isn't automatically reflected on Latest Deals. We rely on members to report the competition (you can press the three little dots on a competition page to do this) so that our team can look into it and either remove the competition or update its details. We appreciate this takes people time and so we reward members with points for both sharing competitions and reporting any issues with them. The points can then be exchanged for Amazon gift cards :)

I'm sorry to hear the sort of freebies you're after aren't available in the freebie section.

Latest Deals is a community platform which means the majority of our freebies are shared by other members. Our members will typically share what interests them or what's available at the moment.

It may just be there aren't a huge number of freebies around at the moment, or that our membership currently has a preference towards certain types of freebies.

We encourage everyone to share the freebies they find with each other. Just in case you didn't know, we reward members with points for taking the time to share freebies (and deals and vouchers) on Latest Deals. These points can be traded in for Amazon gift cards.

There are also some preferences in your settings where you can choose to hide certain category of deals/freebies. That may help improve your experience too.

Hi,

Sorry to hear an item you wanted to buy was out of stock.

Latest Deals is a community platform where members of the public share deals they find on other retailer's websites. A bit like Facebook for deals and offers.

Whilst this means Latest Deals can be a great place to discover a hidden gem and a fantastic discount, it does mean that unfortunately the prices aren't "live". The price and stock status is what it was when the original person shared the deal.

We do our best to remove deals once they run out of stock or the price changes. We encourage members to report deals as "Expired" so that we can quickly take them down. By way of thanks, we reward members who do this with points that they can then exchange for Amazon vouchers.

I hope that helps explain why we weren't able to let you know the item was out of stock straight away.

Sorry again if you had a frustrating experience.

Thanks for taking the time to leave well considered feedback. It's always really helpful to read different members viewpoints and helps shape how Latest Deals evolves.

Re: pushing deals to the front - we do our very best to help bubble up the best deals to the top of the pile (i.e. the homepage) for members. This is a combination of deal popularity and personalisation (as we've come to realise that what constitutes a deal is often very subjective and one person's best bargain ever is another's would-never-buy!). Whilst we do have a handful of sponsored deals (these are always clearly marked as having worked with a particular brand or retailer) there is no bias on the homepage as to whether or not a deal earns Latest Deals money. If a deal is popular and pays Latest Deals £0, it'll still rise to the top of the page. We recognise that there's sometimes a battle of quantity over quality deals on Latest Deals and it's something we're actively working to improve.

Re: the news section - I believe Aldi just crops up often because it's a popular retailer with our members and the stories are typically popular on the website and social media. There is no sponsored relationship with Aldi (we'd always be transparent and let members know if that was the case). We'd likely be very open to one to help fund other parts of Latest Deals but, regardless, there has, to-date, never been any sponsored incentive for us to share Aldi-related news.

Apologies that your chat topic was removed. Our moderators have a limited set of reasons to remove topics and sometimes it means it isn't always very clear. Having just had a quick look at this, I believe your topic was removed as it was felt Tom (a fellow co-founder of Latest Deals) had responded to a question about the coverage of Aldi in our news section previously. However, I personally feel your chat topic has merit to be discussed separately and so I have put it back live :)

Re: Removing threads that are critical of Amazon - we always encourage our members to provide genuine feedback on all retailers, regardless of our relationship with them. As long as the comments are polite and constructive they should be allowed to stay live. That's one of the main foundations of Latest Deals. If you have any examples where you feel this has happened please do email links in and ask them to be forwarded to me (Kelsey) to have a closer look.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and sorry to hear of your negative view of Latest Deals.

Latest Deals rewards members with points for their contributions to the platform. Our intention is that this is a nice bonus and small thank you for members taking the time to share the deals with the community. It's always a tricky balance getting this right - we don't want to encourage people sharing bad deals just for points but equally we'd like the reward to be meaningful. We're always tweaking the system to try and improve the balance and I'll readily admit that this is likely to be an ongoing process. We're very proud to have given our a huge quantity of gift cards to our members.

The vast majority (95%+) of the deals the LD Team share are because they've been identified as potentially being a good deal - e.g. a certain price drop or potentially the ability to "stack" multiple discounts together. We do work with some retailers more directly on a "sponsored" basis and these posts are always clearly labeled.

Latest Deals is very open and transparent about how it makes money. We provide details on every page of the website. The money generated helps run Latest Deals and allows us to give back to the community with points. We've always allowed deals to be shared on Latest Deals irrelevant of whether or not they generate us money as we ultimately want to help the community find the best deals.

I'm genuinely sorry to hear your view of Latest Deals is very different to our (and my own) views and goals for Latest Deals. I hope I've gone some way above to explain some of the points you raised but I'll certainly take your feedback onboard as we go forwards and introduce new features and tweak existing ones.
